It sounds like you have forked peers stuck in a loop, so they just request the same blocks over, and over, and over. Common problem with coin clients. Are you using a reasonably current version? See if debug.log mentions anything like "leap backwards in height request" or "sync repeatedly leaping backwards to lower height". If not, try upgrading to a newer version which should ban peers that are looping.

Updated Clam Client

To speed things up downloaded the CLAM blockchain - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=623147.7740

Checked btc address at Just-Dice > yes CLAMS waiting

Exported private key from Blockchain.info in WIF format

Put importprivkey xxxxxx into CLAM client console > enter > looks ok, blue icon with cross

No CLAMS

Recheck Clam address at just dice, clams still not dug

If I try Just Dice instead is it ok to use the auto allocated account or would it be advisable to set up a user/pass account?

try the importprivkey bitcoinkey then get clam address and check http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/CLAM/address.php if you have clam coin also check the particular block whereby you are to receive the clam coin then check you wallet to see if you synced up to the particular block to receive your clam

You should set up a user name and password just to be safe.

I highly recommend scanning your .dat with FreeBitcoins after digging fee free at Just-dice... this will insure that you've got all those hidden "change" wallets as well.

https://freebitcoins.com/clamchecker/dig_wallet/  (this feature is now working again!)

Spoke to soon.

Shit is now broke again... will update asap!  Cry

Someone asked a technical question on Reddit... if anyone has time to look at it:

In other news:

CLAM is being added to MoneyPot.com

new to clams here

downloaded wallet, downloaded blockchain, it opened, scanned, only has 2 active connections

is there a peer list that can be added?

Yes.

It should be just a few pages back I believe... someone recently posted a list.

Welcome to the Clammunity

I let it run for about 12 hours, it got upto about 7 peers, but never started to sync.  Something must be wrong with the blockchain I DL'd, or something.  Gonna have to give it another shot.

For the first time got the kind of wallet, synchronise a week, helped only file botstar, but there is one positive point, I again became the owner of my coins. I'm happy, I want to thank the entire community for advice.

If there were any Clams to be gained from a private key, there would be a blank response, and they would show up almost right away in your wallet, 1 transaction per balance-held-at-snapshot key.

The wallet shouldn't be locked then. When I am trying to import now, it just gives me a blank response, does that mean it worked?

importwalletdump multibit.key

Whenever the wallet is locked by passphrase, it can't import keys. IDK why you can't even import a single one that held a balance on the snapshot day.
