We need more to ensure the success of Datacoin, and the success of immutable information for-the-people.

The battle over history is real.
With a healthy blockchain, no one can change history.

Read this article by Nozomi Hayase (@nozomimagine) for inspiration as to what Datacoin can be for we-the-people Smiley

Sounds wise Smiley
I'll put some ideas down - I hope everyone who is reading this is putting ideas down too - we need a big Datacoin group effort here Smiley

And here's a contribution to the datacoininfo.org page Smiley

How I Mine Datacoin:

...........

Thanks! I'll find the best way to display / format this and add this to the site.

So sexy, it hurts.
(edit - just sent 5,000 Datacoin to DAj5jfmktTfmxby6MQ8qUswqWCRpdvZ34c for use as DatacoinInfo.org deems fit - I can send more to that address, or to whomever requests via DM for any project or testing needs Smiley )

Thanks.

We should start to detail a possible development plan, once this is built we can have a development package in place to approach an associate dev with so they can assess it and work on.

I will start to add funds to the development address so we can add this to our development package benefits.

How I Mine Datacoin:

These instructions are for the following specs:
Machine: 64 bit Windows 7, all the .net updates fully updated.
GPU: R9 290, with Catalyst Control Center 15.7.1 installed.
Mining program: eXtremal's 9.4.1 miner.

Steps:
~ Make sure your Windows machine is fully updated, especially the .net updates.

~ Install Catalyst Control Center from their website http://support.amd.com/en-us/download, I'm using 15.7.1. (it has drivers the miner needs).

~ Go to http://dtc.graymines.net and dowload miner version 9.4.1, extract it into a file folder.

~ Open the folder dtcclient_v9.4.1.

~ Open config in notepad.

~ Note that you'll see some references to xpm, don't worry about that.

~ change address "DKl3....." to a Datacoin address you control.

~ change cpuload to zero (unless you want to use your cpu, but if you're gpu mining it isn't much compared to a 290, it's not worth the stress to your cpu UNLESS you are ONLY mining with your CPU, then by all means, let one or two roar away, with today's diff, you should come away with a few Smiley ).

~ My machine is running on all the other defaults.
-Server is set to dtc.graymines.net.
-Target ="9"
-sieveSize="210"
-weaveDepth="40960"
-width="20", etc.
-alter devices if you wish to leave some gpu's idle.

~ Save the config file.

~double click xpmclient to run the miner. (rename it first if it makes you feel better Cheesy )

My cpd on one R9 290 is 185.

Other radeon cards may respond better to the other miner versions, or another catalyst program, and/or altered settings.

Known glitch of this miner:
~ Only "X" the program out, don't ctrl c or ctrl q out, it may crash your machine (not sure why).

http://datacoininfo.org

Hey guys,

Here is the site I have been building to try to get all the Datacoin information into one site, it's still being updated as you will see by the Coming Soon.... sections. Any feedback / content requests are welcome, drop me a PM here.

Donations to the Datacoin address on the site will go towards development (Planned development will be posted here)

Update: Access to the donation address listed on the site will be given to the dedicated members of the Datacoin community, so as to decentralise access to it.

Woohoo!

Fabulous page!

Very exxxcite!

Now we need someone to create a Datacoin faucet for the page, I'll donate some Datacoin-goodness to get it going Smiley

My 4 R9s pointed at Datacoin recently are more than willing to cough up some for the people to experiment with Smiley

Information on immutable ledgers are key to free and open societies.

Datacoin is a great idea I'm willing to support in anyway I can Smiley

Thanks, we will probably add a translation system to the site we have created.

It seems who ever owns http://datacoin.info has decided to make the site live once again.

Does anyone here know who owns datacoin.info?

According to this thread user Maxsolnc owns datacoin.info
Anyone working on a DTC block explorer?

indeed - Maxsolcn says so here Smiley ---> https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5126781

and here's a Datacoin block explorer --> http://www.bytestamp.net/blocks/index
but the more the merrier!

Cheers Atomsea, sent a request to CMC to update explorer

And MarcusDe is running a great Datacoin pool here --> http://dtc.graymines.net
however, this appears to be the only one... we need some diversity! Smiley

Hey Atom,

I dropped Maxsolcn a PM before asking if he still owned it but he replied saying he doesn't.

We definitely need to diversify the services!

I find that most fascinating.

But yeah, interesting Smiley

Well, to whomever is running it, that's awesome, just be sure everything is updated, Datacoin.info-mystery-person Smiley
Ex - Datacoin is now a GPU coin, not just a CPU coin Smiley

Nice to see that DTC is still ticking along

Can you help in anyway, we are hoping to get development started on Datacoin again

We are currently creating a single source of information (A website) for Datacoin

I've just started a chinese thread, its still missing alot of info though so shoot me through a PM if you want anything added/updated

Thanks pineapples !

We will add a 'Help setting up a node' section to the site, I'll credit you on the page!

no worries Smiley
the tricky bit i didnt go through is setting up a tunnel with the vps. so you can chat with it through a terminal interface.

digitalocean offer one through their droplet infos, but i've always had problems using it, probably just bad ping.
windows users need to use putty, but as i'm on OSX i can just open a terminal and just connect Cheesy

I'll drop you a PM of where I am up too with the website

it's pretty easy to setup a basic node on a vps (which is what i'm doing)

this is amusingly the guide i generally follow, https://github.com/coincreator/tutorials/tree/master/tutorials/LinuxDaemonHosting
the important part is installing the correct libraries.
and it uses ubuntu, so the commands below will need to be changed slightly for other flavours of linux

obviously there are a few things to change, such as git address but it's pretty much the same.
edit. i added adding a swap file in, can be useful Cheesy its' down the bottom

here's a basic variation on that link which will be for dtc..
once your vps is started and you've logged in.
1. update the vps OS and install libraries
2. get source code and start compiling
3. edit datacoin.conf -- generally i start the daemon first, then it closes with an error about needing this .conf file.
it will spit out an example rpcuser and rpcpassword details. i just copy/paste these into the conf. also copy/paste addnodes from below
4. start for real.

Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install build-essential libboost-all-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev libdb5.1-dev libdb5.1++-dev make git

## look below at adding swap file, do it here

git clone https://github.com/foo1inge/datacoin.git
cd ~/datacoin/src/
make -f makefile.unix "USE_UPNP=-"

./datacoind &
touch /root/.datacoin/datacoin.conf
nano /root/.datacoin/datacoin.conf

## paste stuff, then to exit
[ctrl-x]
[y]
[enter]

./datacoind &

./datacoind getinfo

hopefully now your daemon will spit out some promising info that it is working, and connected !!

conf content - change username and password to yr whatever
Code:
rpcuser=useretc
rpcpassword=passwordofyourchoice
addnode=107.170.165.126
addnode=108.61.57.85
addnode=125.135.114.73
addnode=162.243.125.211
addnode=198.12.12.83
addnode=46.4.147.38
addnode=144.76.123.194
addnode=80.74.157.31
addnode=104.131.69.82
addnode=graymines.net:4777

adding a 1gb swap file. virtual ram basically, will help with some memory based compiling errors.
you may as well do this early in the procedure

Code:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/swapfile bs=1M count=1024
mkswap /swapfile
swapon /swapfile

## then to make it persistent, ie run on reboot you need to edit fstab

nano /etc/fstab
## then at bottom of file paste
/swapfile  swap      swap    defaults         0 0

[ctrl-x],[y],[enter]

note. lines with ## are not to be entered.
