Polo should put together an investment Tracker fund people can buy in to which invests in the top ten cryptos by market cap.
Eg the same as when people invest in tracker funds which invest in the Stock Market.
People can then just send $5 per week (for example) and it's automatically invested in their investment fund.
I don't know how security would work, how funds would be weighted and allocated etc, that's Polo's problem   Grin

What are the basics of using the Poloniex API.
I've written a simple BTC price reader, called BTC_Reader, it's on the android app store.

It simply reads the latest Json encoded prices from Blockchain API.

And am about to put a more powerful variant on the appstore which reads Altcoin prices at intervals from Poloniex.

I'd like to have a go at building an app to post trades, get balances etc, this involves Api keys, secrets and nonces which look very confusing.

As I understand it, I need to send a query to https://poloniex.com/tradingApi

I guess I must send something like https://poloniex.com/tradingApi/requestbalances & API Key & Sha256(secret Key) & nonce.
Do both my API Key and my Secret need to be HMAC Sha256 hashed to base 64

One thing I don't understand is what's the purpose of the nonce, is it a security feature, because if everyone uses the current time, as
is often suggested, then all the hacker need do is use the current time at the time of his hack, and it's sure to be a larger
value that the value I used yesterday (for example)

PS I'm using MIT's App Inventor.
I know there's more powerful IDEs but I like AppInventor, and a challenge.

What would a basic string look like, posted to Polo.,so I can have a go at building the trading App. I'm guessing something like the above, eg.

https://poloniex.com/tradingApi/requestbalances & API Key & Sha256(secret Key) & nonce

Does anyone have some idea what the final string should look like so I can have a go at assembling the string to send to Polo's Api.

Thanks.

5 days ago, i made 2 gamecredits withdrawals, that apparently have the same TXID, that shows no records on blockchain and addreses no transactions, they told me the transaction hasn't been broadcasted. It's been 5 days and i want my gamecredits back. What does a failed to broadcast transaction mean?they told me they tried 2 times to broadcast and it failed. Can't they just cancel that @#$%@! transaction and return the gamecredits to my poloniex address?

EDIT:Solved.

Why hasn't komodo been added? It's literally BTCD but better.

Please consider adding Komodo (KMD) to your exchange, thanks!

Hi,
is there any chance that Komodo will be added soon? It officially replaces Bitcoindark and >80% of Btcd has already been swapped for it. The dev team is the same and it's part of the same Supernet project, whose main revenue asset (supernet/unity) is on Polo as well. I think it make sense to add Komodo, especially now that SN has launched and it could bring a lot of volume in the coming months. Technically it's a zcash fork so very similar job for integration.

Poloniex suffered quite a loss of prestige after Pascal.
Everyone knows the money-based system, but this clearly shows that it is a system established for their own pockets. While the coins which had seen high demand in the market were not able to enter the market, they list their coins which were unquestioned and sold their purchases to us.

Hello, Om dev here.

I think I just got scammed, after I submitted to you https://poloniex.com/coinRequest, thinking I was contacted for the adding.

Now they ask more again, it must be false Tristan.

Thank you for helping if you can. Have a nice day, the community.

Thanks for the warning - some people were trying this a while back too, one of the coins I was working with almost got scammed - lucky we tried a community fund raiser and questions were asked.

I suspect the Om coin dev has fallen for the fake pay poloniex to host an ICO scam. He's asking for donations for a 2 Bitcoin fee to get his coin's ICO hosted by poloniex.

Best news of the world!

Poloniex accepted Om for listing and ICO, for a modest 2BTC. The listing cost 1BTC.

Use this address (my main Coinbase one) if you want to help me get Om listed as fast as possible.
14hdr43PTjhqcKMYDjB7DmjL97GvtkLXrN

An Angel investor is needed, for once.
Or a loan, minimum for the ICO, tell me if you can.

Thank you, everyone.

I will keep you updated.

Someone tried to do the same scam to the BipCoin dev team. It's word for word identical. Poloniex doesn't use a gmail address, but the scammer does.

IP

 is in  Ireland, Laois, Portlaoise
is not a proxy. Is sent from a mobile network.

While I'm sure the person at the other end of this email would take my Bitcoin if I responded enthusiastically, I'm sure it would not result in my coin BipCoin being listed on Poloniex Exchange.

First, that's not Tristan's email. I know Tristan's email address because a friend whose coin is on Poloniex gave me an introduction. Tristan's email is not a gmail address.

Second, I doubt anyone at Poloniex Exchange has a gmail address that misspells "Poloniex"!  lol.

Just wanted to give a heads up for any other altcoin devs who recieve the same scammy message. It's not Poloniex. And these people will probably come up with a different email now that spells Poloniex right, like
[email protected]
or something like that.

Poloniex company email addresses are not gmail addresses.

busoni,
can you provide some info about adding a coin in there?
I've some so many stories about Polo:
some say you're asking for a % the coin
others say you're asking for some btc (as bittrex do)
and other say you need crazy volume in the exchange you're in now

looking for busoni answer

scammers dont ask for email dont pm me

Good lord POLO, why add a coin like Pascual Coin when you should be adding top volume coins from bittrex:  waves, nxs, etc.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
Don't mine directly to Polo address if you're solo-miner or using a pool that sends out your share of mining profit automatically. Just use a pool that allows you to initiate withdrawals manually (ie Minergate) after you accumulate some decent amount.

Poloniex can change deposit addresses with very short notice and also (afaik) wouldn't show dust-amounts deposits.

good info, thanks!
