How the Discord is better for updates than a public searchable forum..? Is it a matter of fashion, to move everything to noisy chat platforms?
It's not necessarily better but as an example - this isn't even the correct Bitcointalk thread for Helium yet you're looking here for information.
That is why we create separate subsections such as "Announcements" in Discord and disallow users from posting there.

BTW, you still can leave here a link to the correct place and lock this thread (open just to add info, then lock again) - the same thing you do in Discord, plus get the benefit of having the info public.
Sure, I understand in is beneficial to have your own place dedicated to the project (this also helps to filter out stray trolls, and people not really interested in the project itself). But to attract some new people, or to update the general community, it is useful to have a public place with periodic updates...
