My point exactly, F2Pool and there low handed SPV mining tricks, are endangering Bitcoin and its network. Like Netcoin it has POS/POW algo,  mine if you want and also stake at the same time.

And wont have to worry if something happens to that one pool mining huc.

Plus earn HUC while you wait that 120 mins while moving across the screen Tongue

Ever thought of moving HUC from POW to POS mining?  Like Peercoin/Netcoin is?

What would be the benefit?  My personal opinion is that POS is not really a good way to secure a blockchain -- particularly when you can enjoy a high POW hashrate due to merge mining.

I'm not really a fan of PoS either, but in the case of merge-mining, especially in this case, isn't the high hashrate completely dominated by a single pool? Even though there are two algos, doesn't f2pool control more than half the hashrate on both at any time? So, even though there is a high hashrate, isn't Huntercoin completely at the mercy of a single entity?

snailbrain, can you please enlist Huntercoin on Yobit.net?

It would be easier for everyone to trade at any point of time, apart from playing. Smiley

And an online wallet will also be fine for hoarding majority of my funds.

Hi snailbrain,

Have you considered planning about enlisting your coin to any popular exchange sites like YoBit?

Don't worry, we are ready to vouch for you there. Smiley

Also an online wallet would be better to hoard most of my treasuries instead of storing them on my main wallet and worry about getting them stolen by some player! Tongue

Let me know what you think.

would be good to get huntercoin on as many exchanges as possible, please assist with that if you can, although i'll send a mail specifically to that exchange.

The coins you get in game can't be stolen by other players. Once you bank the coins they will be in your wallet like with other coins wallets.

You can also set a reward address so that when you bank coins they will automatically go to another address  - e.g. an address in savings wallet.

Then with the download folder should I just copy everything besides the invisible .ds file and copy it into the applications file on the MAC?

Just replace them?  Even the addr.dat file?

Thanks again, I just wanna get the coins off the exchanges...

not sure what the .ds file is, probably can be ignored.

i'm also not sure where the location of the datadir is on a mac but it probably isn't the same folder as the qt download.
If you have already started an attempt at syncing and now have a folder with those dat files in then that's probably the one so you should be able to overwrite them

let me know Smiley

Hi guys,

would be good for someone to write a full on guide and we can offer a bounty for it.. there are some old ones.

The chain.huntercoin.org download just unzips into your datadir..

on linux this is usually /home//.huntercoin/
on windows this is usually c:\users\\appdata\roaming\huntercoin

then just run the exe (on windows) and you are good to go, let it start syncing.

Once sync'd, if you want to play (and have some coins), you really want to use one of the third party clients.. with these you can check the memory pool for where someone is about to move to, if you don't use this then you are guaranteed dead.

Unity Client (for windows/mac/linux/android)
or
MithrilMan client (windows only but more advanced)
or
you can try Wiggi's "betterQT", although i've had trouble compiling it all the source is available.

the unity and mithrilman client connect to a working daemon or QT (wallets).
They require you to configure your huntercoin.conf file which is in the datadir with a username/password etc

let me know if and where you get stuck

--

as for playing the game -
collect coins on the map and take them to a bank. Banks spawn randomly on the map and only appear for a random amount of blocks. Currently you can only see this information clearly in the 3rd party clients.

Hunters cost 200 hucs each, currently when you destruct (attack in a 1 square radius) it costs you 20 hucs.
If you hit someone, you will kill him and your hunter will be worth 400 hucs. He will drop any coins he has looted on the floor.
If your hunter is worth 400 hucs, it means you can survive one hit by an enemy, but you will then be worth 200 hucs if you are hit..
This is called "life stealing" in other games.

You can bank your hunters value by staying on a bank for 3 blocks, your hunter will disappear from the map if you do so and the coins will appear in your wallet after 120 blocks (iirc)

Combat is not perfect and we'll be working on the mechanics of it after domobs completion of huntercore which should allow pruning the chain to <800mb.

Hey guys. It's been a LONG time since I last messed with HUC. I remember it being hard to really understand and pretty technical. Are there any guides or anything that explain how the game works now? It was a cool concept when I first read about it but just didn't quite get how it all worked.

Any chinesse exchange would help HUC in the long run.

I agree with this.

Also, once I have the bootstrap downloaded is there a link to the instructions about what goes where and what the file names are after being unzipped?

Once this game becomes more accessible by the average person and the wallet and blockchain become easier to work with I think we're are going to see an explosion in popularity.

Good work you guys, it's amazing to put a game like this on the blockchain.

Seems like forum.huntercoin.org truncates passwords after the 9. character, and the login page (forum.huntercoin.org/index.php?action=login)
after the 15. character. (only since today, so anyone with longer pw is locked out)

Good news!

Cryptsy have finaly upgraded their HUC wallet, deposits and withdrawals are now working properly! Cryptsy HUC market is at https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/HUC_BTC

And we are close to 1 million mined blocks, time to celebrate!  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Also an update for the betterQt client:

https://github.com/wiggi/huntercoin
https://mega.nz/#!CB0R1bga!KFw25d1CcSA-x7SvVc0tM_ZmyssCyW-y2jBzJlHjJYY

- Windows build has run ~20 hours via Tor, no problems.

- There is now a readme. Btw, it's dangerous to have names of hunters that are not alive on the map in names.txt (an imposter could sneak up on other hunters without triggering an alarm)

- Most improvements are for the map editor, but it's still trial and error what works and what not.
"Rectangular copy&paste" is basic function for text editors, so it's easy to prettify a small snippet of the (asciiart) map and post it.

Hi,
i'd ignore the warning. It's only saying it's unrecognized not that it's found something.

i have smartscreen turned off on my windows 10.

It's "connecting daemon" because either the daemon is not running or the username/password isn't correct (or the port/IP is incorrect)

check out the guide. (very rough > http://forum.huntercoin.org/index.php/topic,2145.0.html )

the basics are:
You need to have a running daemon/qt.. with a properly configured huntercoin.conf
in the unity client go to overview and settings, then enter the username/password you have set in the huntercoin.conf ..
Enter the IP (or 127.0.0.1 if running the daemon on the same computer).. and the port (default 8399)

then it should connect or at least tell you it's syncing.. note though that when syncing, the unity client doesn't show more than 1 day (need to get this fixed). So it might say 13hours to go, when in fact you are 30 weeks and 13 hours behind.

If you have not got the daemon/qt already synced, then you can download the chain from here http://chain.huntercoin.org

hmm weird, seems to work for me on different computers.

please try installing another browser, firefox or chrome (if that's not what you are using).. i will upload it to mediafire tomorrow anyway

I tried it on Microsoft Edge and the link worked Smiley

But when I was trying to run the ".exe" file, I was constantly shown this!

Is this a false positive?

Also the application is stuck on "Connecting Daemon" for several hours! Is the wallet actually syncing by this?
