While the government of South Korea fights against digital currency, the largest retailer n the country is planning to use Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and other cryptocurrencies as a paymet option.
This concerns the retailer WeMakePrice which is integrating the OneThePay service.
Integrating cryptocurrencies is a part of our initiative to make payments more convenient for our consumers and clients. We consider mobile fintech apps, points, and cryptocurrencies as efficient payment methods,” said WeMakePrice's spokesperson in an interview with HanKyoReh.
The topic of digital currency is particularly acute for South Korea due to a series of declarations by politicians. The South Korean government has demanded that all cryptocurrency traders ensure that their still-anonymous digital accounts now bear their owners' names, in accordance with the AML/KYC legislation. Simultaneously, all exchanges must hand over all information on transactions to the banks.
It is expected that WeMakePrice's decision will enable the further popularization of cryptocurrencies in the country. After all, despite all this, South Korea continues to be the site of a significant amount of cyrptocurrency trading

Another innovative program, Building Blocks, clearly demonstrates how a database's efficiency can tangibly and positively affect the lives of people in a vulnerable position.
In addition to using blockchain, there have been instances in which funds for charities were collected in cryptocurrency. Last year, the Fidelity Charitable company collected over $22 million.

Have you ever conducted any shady transactions? Well, they're visible to everyone. That’s the reason why it was easy for the media to report the number of people who paid for the WannaCry ransomware: they just looked through the transactions in the open public ledger.
What’s more, every legal service working with crypto technology requires verification. So Bitcoin is not so anonymous after all!

A recent soybean shipment from the US to China has become "the first full agricultural commodity transaction using a blockchain platform," according to a consortium of banks and trading businesses involved.The deal involved recent agricultural trading businesses Louis Dreyfus Company and Shandong Bohi Industry.
This shipment was carried out on the Easy Trading Connect blockchain platform developed by the banks (ING, Societe Generale, and ABN Amro), which digitises sales contracts such as documents and letters of credit.
"The next step is to harness the potential for further development through the adoption of common standards, and welcome a truly new era of digital trade flow management on a global level." Louis Dreyfus Company's Martiarena
There are even more news about commodity trading coming from London. Few businesses there have announced successful pilots and early-stage trials of projects using blockchain technology.

Very popular misconception about Bitcoin tha it is a distributed public ledger or something to that effect. In fact, it is not.
Bitcoin is a decentralized replicated public ledger. Decentralized means that it does not live on a centralized server: anybody can in principle add to it. Replicated means that it is copied in full in a lot of places.
Distributed means that parts of it put in different place. There is actually a very big difference. Replication means it is fast to read data for everybody.But it also means that it’s expensive to write data. Distributed means that it is fast to read and write data that is “close to” you, but it takes a long time – might even be impossible – to read/write data that is not. The replicated nature of the blockchain means that it is fast to see how many Bitcoins you (or anybody else) have, but takes forever to spend them.
