E-Currency is Changing

Just a quick message to say that as we have had so many problems with the client etc in the process of getting it into the new block chain we are moveing on with a new incarnation of E-Currency.

Adarian will post a final forum entry soon where he will lock this forum and open up a new Forum for the new E-Currency, which shall keep its name in the form of eCurrency and have the designation changed to ECC from ISO.

Very briefly just to keep everybody informed, do not worry about your current ISO balancese, we are pre-mining the new incarnation of the coin so that we can do a proper coin swap, and unlike "other" coins we have noticed doing this, we are not reducing the amount, THIS WILL BE A 1:1 COIN SWAP..

So Get your old ISO together in one place and watch this space :-)

To quickly recap:

1.    E-Currency is changing to eCurrency
2.    ISO designation will change to ECC
3.    We'll be doing an exchange for your ISO to the new eCurrency as an equal exchange, from the pre-mine (Reason for pre-mine)
4.    Adaryian will post final forum post on this thread and direct all to a new thread with the coin specs and wallets etc...

Sorry for such a long delay in updating you all. and  thank you for your patience...

For Transparency:
I personally have one S3 still mining for ISO, there needs to be at least one miner running for transactions to keep being confirmed, but as miners we all know that. :-)

I am also working on a Block Explorer for both of the incarnations so that it can be seen what is happening with the coin swap.
I'm creating one for ECC and one for ISO.

For more info please wait for Adaryain's last post....

Thank you ncsupanda for letting us know you've never worked on any SHA-256 altcoins before.  Below you shall find a chat log from our Skype conversation that tells an entirely different story.

http://pastebin.com/aK3ZU5f7

So, I'll be removing the positive feedback and placing negative as it seems you have had experience in this, sent crypto a message stating entirely otherwise and trying to wash your hands of it.  On top of that taking a lot of ISO and completely screwing up the code because of "your lack of knowledge".

-Adaryian

Adaryian,

I was unsure about the prefix change on the chain of your altcoin. I pushed a change to a TEST repository (which you did not have yet) and YOU pulled them to your main branch without doing any tests of your own. My messages even state I was unsure how the main blockchain would react to the causes you were asking for. I was still doing my tests when you hurriedly pulled them to Main.
When you came across any issues I pointed someone in this coins direction to view the source and to fix any mistakes I may have caused.
While I may have caused an issue, I did not do so intentionally. It was on a TEST branch for a reason. And beyond that I was on Spring Break for this semester and thus was not as active as I would have hoped to be.

I'm more than willing to return any ISO funds I've received - although I don't know how much that is (I haven't even loaded up the wallet besides the original time to get you an address where we agreed that any payment was optional, and can be found in this thread).

I was not trying to "wash my hands" of the situation. I realized I didn't know how to fix it and thus I stepped aside so someone else could. My message to "cryptcollector" reinforces that idea and I hope you'll agree that doing so was a responsible way of handling the situation.

I was also not trying in any way to harm your altcoin. It would be pointless since I believe in cryptocurrency as a whole.
If you feel negative reputation is necessary on my account, I understand. My positive review for you still stands.

I'm sorry for any trouble I've caused. Feel free to PM me to discuss this although I wish you tried to contact me either here or on Skype before posting this about me. It's also troubling that you've posted my Skype details yet that's a minute detail.

Sincerely,
ncsupanda

EDIT:

In response to this:
adaryian 0: -0 / +0(0)   2015-03-24   1.00000000   Reference   Liar. Performed work for me that actually destroyed the code. Lied about how he didn't know what he was doing. Took currency in exchange for his work. Never responded again.

I never received anything of REAL value for this work. I also didn't "destroy the code." Only a single change caused an issue and it was fixable.
I was not contacted further. The last message I received from you was on Skype:
[3/17/2015 1:12:30 PM] Adaryian Alexander: fresh install on windows even gives a stuck at block #4031

Admins can verify I didn't receive any messages from you.

In the big picture this is just a little pointless drama. Focus on your coin moving forward and I truly hope it is successful!

Hi Adaryian,

ncsupanda sent me the following earlier:

Please convey this to Adaryian:

I performed the changes on E-Currency that led to the fork. I've never worked on a SHA-256 Altcoin before this and was unaware of the harm that a prefix change could cause for the block chain. Any damages caused were not intentional - and I hope that he gets better soon.

I've sent the repo to a number of developers with more skill than myself (including gmaxwell, who I've spoken with in the past) in order to help remedy the situation.

The important thing is that the blockchain is safe - there is a reason there is a checkpoints file in the source.

Thanks.

I replied with this:

I will send your regards and forward your message.

We very much appreciate the work you did in any case, and any other help in resolving this would be appreciated also, thank you for forwarding it.

There was some oddity with the blockchain as you have gathered, but its not your fault.

I suppose it was up to Adariyian and perhaps myself if I had access to the client before distribution to thoroughly test it out beforehand.

These things are sent to try us and we learn in the process :-)

Hope all is well with you...

Regards
Cryptcollector

This will keep us on a happy relationship with him I hope.

NIce of him to send the repo to a few more experienced than himself to take a look mind.

Chat later with you man.

Crypto

Hi guys.
I noticed our ISO wallet not sync after block 30022.
Is there something we need to do?

Let me know. I will temporary stop market.

Please take a moment and read the thread.  Just as I would tell other members.  Just because you're an exchange doesn't pardon or excuse the fact that you should read information related to you as well.

Thanks,

I should be released from the hospital today.  But I highly doubt I'll be ready to work on fixing this for the next few days.  I'll update everyone when I've fixed everything.

Sorry for all the issues, but I/We will get them resolved ASAP.

Just a little update to keep you all informed.[

Adaryian has been taken ill. he has gone into hospital and should be back soon, nothing too serious so dont worry guys!

He is slightly restricted in what he can do right now as he's only got access from his phone.

He has asked me to inform you that the programmer didn't explain a lot of these things to him and that it would change the blockchain. He will revert things back to as far as he can and update based on what has been done so it can be fixed.

I personally am no programmer, so if there is anyone out there willing to help on that side, it would be much appreciated. PM me or Adaryian, I will forward any help offers to Adaryian for access to the code repository.

Please  "DONT PANIC" :-)

This issue will be resolved and everything will be back on track soon, and hopefully we will not see another fork anytime soon afterwards, unless your using one to eat.

Reverted to commit b4 "hardfork" code, reindex looks like: https://gist.github.com/Rav3nPL/b4f46dadedf498685183

I have stopped all the new daemons and I am in the process of reverting back to the old client. Hopefully this will stop the damaged blockchain from propagating from my systems.

Lets, let the blockchain recover then see where to go from there.

Initially when I tested this everything seemed fine.  But once more people connected and started mining the blockchain wouldn't download.  So it looks like the change from the '1' to the 'E' changed the blockchain.
Cool, you just killed all wallets this way.
You can`t change coin prefix this way.
Why you don`t post any info what changes are doing on fork, who decided what changes should and can be made, who tested all stuff???

GJ in killing coin.

edit: You also CAN`T just change static vars on timespan/spacing and expect that old block (witch different spacing) chain will be valid. Reindex will just reject old block chain.

Revert ALL this failed hardfork code from git NOW and allow to chain repair.

edit2: last proper commit is https://github.com/Adaryian/E-Currency/commit/52634926ffbf56ee7c4292b7c0c2dd9978464d75

Guys,

If you have been using Crytpo's Pool I have a problem with the E-Currency pool.
As soon as the following get in touch i'll reset that pool to Zore Defaults.

In fact as nobody is using it at the moment I'll do that now.

Could whoever has these addresses PM me?

I think there is some coin that is refusing to go out because of the wallet change.

I will manually send them when the users get back to me.

that one is mine . i thought it looked familair and opened my wallet and it is mine .

I have temporarily removed ISO fron the Crypto's and Alt40 pools while work is being done to restore the client/wallets to a working order.
Don't like users losing coin and wasting hash....

The Services will be resumed as soon as the wallets have been sorted.

So, new code not tested on testnet and gone wild on main net? :/

Code:
"version" : 90100,
    "protocolversion" : 70002,
    "walletversion" : 60000,

    "blocks" : 29970,
    "timeoffset" : 1,
    "connections" : 4,
    "proxy" : "",
    "difficulty" : 262144.00000000,

What exactly is going on?

Edit:
Lurked in log, getting lots of orphaned blocks in log.
Is there any code that disconnect/ban old nodes that still have 10 min. block?

Okay.  So there was a problem with the check points in the programming.  We have someone who is going to fix it.  The hard fork happens at block 32256.  It will ignore all previous 10 minute blocks.  New clients on nix and windows systems running the client will only get to block number 4 or 5k.  There seems to be a separate "new" blockchain being made.  We're working on fixing this hopefully today. Depends on what all needs to be fixed.

Initially when I tested this everything seemed fine.  But once more people connected and started mining the blockchain wouldn't download.  So it looks like the change from the '1' to the 'E' changed the blockchain.

Again, this was my first hard fork and I figured there was going to be some small issues however I didn't expect major issues.  But we're working to resolve this.  If the programmers want to chime in they can to explain more but all the changes are on Github so you can see what changes were made and why it had caused these problems.

Will update asap.

STOP MINING!

We are experiencing some BlochChain problems.
To be on the safe side for the moment please stop all mining of ISO.

This will be sorted as soon as it is physically possible.

Thanks Cryptocollector for helping me post.  I've updated the first post of the thread.

Links are out for the new download along with alternative downloads for both x32 and x64 containing the blockchain as of moments ago along with a default ECurrency.conf which will include addnodes in there to give you up to 8 connections that are currently active.  Obviously, it will find more.

In addition I added just the Blockchain and a default ECurrency.conf download separately in-case that's all you need.  It's all uploaded on Github so you know it's a safe download.

I'll also post it here below for those who want it more easily. Wink
