This is a great project. I hope someone steps forward soon to take over. It would be a total shame for it to just die out. I'd personally love to take it over but I have another project I'm working on now.
Has anyone stepped up yet and offered to help with the takeover?

Nope. Not recently.  This was one of the most fun coins and fairest launches for quite a while.  It's a shame more people were entangled in Darkcoin/Dash and other coin drama back then.  I think JPC probably would have done better if launched now versus then.

It needs to have a working wallet. Right now it is nothing but resource stealing bloatware. The OP is not a programmer and had to rely on others to make it work. That makes it difficult to move forward.

Askcoin is not really supported or staffed, as far as I know...

You can vote for JPC on c-cex: https://c-cex.com/?id=vote

So, you are saying , if we invest 0.5 BTC , dev wil fix / improve speed of wallet ?
If yes, is there somebody who can donate ?
I can if there are more donators.

If we want to get to C-Cex, right now we need just 0.13 BTC . But priority is fix wallet, because now it's taking more than 50% average laptop cpu.

Yeah, most devs are willing to create new coins and take what they can while they can, then don't want to bother with the maintenance, let alone those who create scams deliberately. That's also the reason why noone has been interested in taking over. There's not enough incentive for most competent guys.

Regarding JPC, I think a 2 BTC investment could help revive the coin. The current dev asks for 0.5 BTC to work on a new version. Let's say that's 1 BTC for two new releases along the road.

Add another BTC to get the coin again on a few decent exchanges, and help pay at least a new domain name (I could host the site on a shared host I pay for other stuff, but it wouldn't display the Jackpot value, not a big deal anyway, since it's really low nowadays).
On C-Cex, 0.5 BTC would put the coin on the exchange for sure. ( We have 19 votes so far )
I've seen BTC38 also has a voting page that accepts payment, we are #40 at the moment http://www.btc38.com/trade/vote_for_trade_en.html

However, I think it's useless to get the coin on exchanges before being sure there's a new release.

i don't have enough of any one coin to do anything.
I only have like 60,000 JPC or something too.. not very much (i can't remember)

I tend to just hold coins until they die hahaha

Well we had fun and it got popular for a while but that hack incident was the thing that ruined it.
An RPC exploit was used on some bigger coin holders who had their coins dumped crashing the price hard.
It never recovered after that..
I think it was fishy but bahh what ever.. old news now.

Pretty sure this coin is dead.. it's not on an exchange now.

Make a Jackpot coin #2  Smiley
It's quite easy to make a new coin. But resurrecting an old one is a challenge Wink

Isn't it possible refactor code and then recomplile for faster load / sync wallet ?
I don't know much about QT applications.
If somebody know how to fix it or know somebody, write offer in BTC or JPC .
I still think, that this coin has got still good features.

We need to do something, not just looking.

Just in case, I've updated the thread title. If a new dev is willing to take over, let me know!

Recall:
Quote
If someone wants to take over, let me know. I can guarantee the new dev would receive 50M JPC (10M for each new version).
That's all I can do at the moment.

It would be magic, if someone could resurrect this coin Smiley Perhaps JackpotCoin would become the first coin, that was resurrected from the dead's after such long (in crypto word) time!..  Wink
Dev, maybe someone already contacted you?..

Haha, not the first coin and definitely not the longest.  Corgicoin is in the early stages of being brought back, and poor corgi has been asleep for a long long time.

Hm...so it's a first time I've heard about it Smiley Usually everyone decides that after such period of time coins becomes distributed unfair (someone could mine more coins than the other). And everyone thinks that none will trust the coin anymore Smiley
But as I see, there is a hope Smiley
