To me the main reason that this coin was delisted from many exchanges, was because the jackpotcoin client is too processor hungry, and takes forever to sync.

And I believe fixing that is what is required before the next dev gets paid.  At least that's what OP said before.

Yeah, most devs are willing to create new coins and take what they can while they can, then don't want to bother with the maintenance, let alone those who create scams deliberately. That's also the reason why noone has been interested in taking over. There's not enough incentive for most competent guys.

Regarding JPC, I think a 2 BTC investment could help revive the coin. The current dev asks for 0.5 BTC to work on a new version. Let's say that's 1 BTC for two new releases along the road.

Add another BTC to get the coin again on a few decent exchanges, and help pay at least a new domain name (I could host the site on a shared host I pay for other stuff, but it wouldn't display the Jackpot value, not a big deal anyway, since it's really low nowadays).
On C-Cex, 0.5 BTC would put the coin on the exchange for sure. ( We have 19 votes so far )
I've seen BTC38 also has a voting page that accepts payment, we are #40 at the moment http://www.btc38.com/trade/vote_for_trade_en.html

However, I think it's useless to get the coin on exchanges before being sure there's a new release.

Well, I'm afraid the coin is dead folks!
Not a single satoshi into donation, website is down and would need a new host.

If someone wants to take over, let me know. I can guarantee the new dev would receive 50M JPC (10M for each new version).
That's all I can do at the moment.

That's a shame.  Wonder if the bigger holders left crypto for a time like I did because of the multiple large scams one after the other.  I'm guessing we'll get a few popping in from time to time wondering what happened.  New dev would be cool.  They already have the coins promised by you and I would send nearly all I have left just to see a good coin get moving again. So another 5-10m on that.

If the dev won't accept donations from the very coin he is supporting, I see that as a conflict. I wouldn't go as far as to say that the issues were implemented by design, however what is the dev to gain by not fully supporting the coin? More future BTC donations? Seems more like paying an outside party to periodically update. Without a caring dev, coin will go nowhere.

The 'Keeper of the Coin' is not a developer. He is contracting someone to do it who will only accept bitcoin as payment.

and nothing happened since then ^^

Because there is currently only 1 or 2 exchanges that not many people use as far as I can tell.  One might even be a scam exchange, I haven't used it.

If he does the hard work of fixing the resource issue and the community and exchanges aren't back onboard, he would get nothing for his efforts.  If anyone cares and the resurrection goes well, I'm pretty sure he'd stick around and make it even better.  If he ends up being the only one doing the heavy lifting, then I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to continue.

So the real question is if the resource issue is resolved, how many people/exchanges would commit to getting it back on it's way to success?

06/19/11 17:51 Bought BTC 259684.77 for 0.0101
This is good to hear!  I've contributed in the past and unfortunately don't have the finances to contribute BTC at the moment, but in the event there is a JPC donation address I'll gladly toss some that way when the CPU issue is handled.  I've had a strong feeling that JPC wasn't completely dead and once the overhead issue is taken care of there is no reason it couldn't bounce back Smiley

I personally handle this donation address. I'm here from the beginning, if people think I'm not trustworthy, well, I don't know what to add...
And the dev won't get any coin until I consider the job done.

Well that's all that really needed to be said  Tongue  If those are the terms then I think everyone will be cool with that.

Hi everyone,

I've talked to the dev and he's now willing to work on the CPU usage issue. Problem is he doesn't want to be paid in JPC and so I've created a BTC donation address (I still have the JPC donated earlier by the way, so they will get used later on for other tasks).

If the dev would still like to remain anonymous, I think people would prefer the donations to use one of the reputable members here that offer escrow for btc.  When the problem is fixed and released, funds are released.

Better late than never I suppose, but I've seen some impressive rebounds of coins before, so I still don't think it's too late or anything.

Pool ?

Not sure, but I think non of the pools are working anymore.
But it's great time for solomining as diff is really low Smiley

Dev, any news on fixing wallet speed?

I also think that the wallet cpu usage issue has top priority. I'm not sure if exchanges would like to spend too many resources on a single wallet...
