Very sad day for KMD. I don't know if it will ever bounce back from this. It was already drifting steadily lower. But time will tell.
Price is the same, not sure what coin you mistook KMD for on the trading list. It may have dropped a penny from the last I looked at it. Look at the USD notation, it is about 8-9 cents. This is about what trading started at around 10 cents. Most of the loss is in liquidity for having ICO funds tied up for so long.
I can't figure out why people care about a Fork. I know Decentralized this and that, but security is first and a Fork means nothing in the end especially when there is new development involved. It is not Forking to save 1 investor who got coins taken or a large exchange theft of some sort. It is a bug that must be addressed or all investors lose their ICO funds to it. So why would people think that all are in agreement that everyone should now just take a loss if Forking is the ultimate shame.
Only thing a Fork would have an effect on is trading for goods and services. The only services that got shorted are the Notary nodes and the supply. Had the coin been sent for goods and they shipped it would be a different story. I consider most alt coins a way to send Bitcoin faster anyways and sometimes you can make money from them after a transfer. So think about that for a while and then realize a Fork to save an Alt is actually good as most people are so dead set against Bitcoin forks. So we have the best of both worlds. Again you can lose by getting into Alts if most people just do exchanges, but this could be cheaper if people just realize they could make a decent percent by facilitating transfers. There could be walls too that allow this to transpire at very low losses. So when you consider that there are X amount of Bitcoin inside of KMD, why the hell would anyone take a loss on any of their KMD when it represents Bitcoin value, which is why there is a marketcap to see how many coins there are vs the value of the ICO and BTCD holdings.
Very simple concepts. Also, can't Cryptox find the ID of the hacker now? At least share some forensic's and nab the BTC at another exchange.
