There has been a lot of discussion of the voting system lately. It would take me an hour to quote all of the relevant posts to my view on it.

As stated previously, with Crypti, I was in favor of having 1 XCR represent 1 vote instead of up to 101 votes, each for a different delegate, and I still feel that 1 Lisk should represent 1 vote for 1 delegate, so a vote from an account with 100 Lisk for 2 delegates would be a vote for 50 Lisk of each delegate voted for. I would also rather see that the voting UI allow the user to apportion his vote as a percentage with a default to an equal apportion to each delegate voted for, so an account with 100 Lisk would give 50 votes to each of 2 delegates voted for by default, but could be set to give 25 votes to one and 75 to the other by setting the votes to 25% and 75% in the Voting UI.

The problem with the current system is it allows the same voting block to decide all 101 delegates if they have a majority. This would be much harder to do with the proportional voting where 1 Lisk only counts for 1 vote. The argument for giving 1 Lisk up to 101 Votes is that it prevents someone from securing a delegate spot by holding 1% of the Lisk, but by consuming the votes to hold that one spot it makes it a lot harder for that same holder to collude with other large holders to secure all 101 spots.

One way to compromise between the two systems would be to have ranked voting. The order of the votes up to a maximum of 100 chosen by the user would determine a decreasing number of votes for each delegate chosen, so a vote for three delegates from an account with 100 Lisk would give the first delegate on the list 100 votes, the second 99 votes, the third 98 votes. A vote for 100 delegates from an account with 100 Lisk  would give the first delegate 100 votes and the 100th delegate 1 vote. Ideally, the Voting UI should have a drag'n'drop interface for setting the order of the candidates.

Ranked voting would alleviate the problem of a voting block potentially determining all of the delegates, but does add a significant amount of complexity to the code. I would still rather see 1 Lisk = 1 vote for 1 delegate.

Hello fellow Lisk members, i am new on this website. I am following the crypto world since Bitcoin hit the 120dollar.

I invested in many coins like Dogecoin, Litecoin, but nothing like Lisk.

I am from the Netherlands (Delft), i am a student of the TU Delft (Delft University of Technology) where i study Information Technology.
I like the idea of running for a delegate and i will use the rewards to increase the further develepoment of Lisk.

My server specs where i will run my node with:
4 CPU
4GB Memory
90GB SSD Space
4TB Traffic Limit
10Gbit Connection
Uptimte 99-100% (24/7)

I hope for your support.

I made an anon 2 days ago to be active delegate and I'm working on it since.
Just to let you I'm currently building 2 nodes finaly.
One on the the testnet and later one on the mainnet.
That way I will be able to test and harden optimize my setup without affecting the main node if it's active.
I think it will also serve the lisk cause when dev want to test new feature to be release without affecting main net. The nodes will run on Ubuntu x64.

My official anon: https://forum.lisk.io/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=143

If someone need it (LiskHQ), I can help translate technical documentation in french .

On another subject here is the current state of my voting list:
Feel free to PM me if you're not listed (at least) in my 'to verify' list.

This article is advertising only. Why did this guy decide 101 active delegate is unique and independent?
As mentioned above, for full controll of the network on practice you need less then 51% because others are lazy to vote and some coins places on exchanges.
But, I don't think it is the threat to Lisk, no one in good mind will spend huge amount of money to such attack.

most of the promoted delegates had 5$ VPS, suspect you dont need too much to take down that

We must pay more attention on promoting Lisk and making more Dapps...

The delegates issue, the Lisk team, can think a manner..

Maybe 1001 delegates? Or 1 delegates per person...I dont know...

But the rewards should be used to promote Lisk, its better for Lisk and for yourself.

That is subjective.  I understand the fear but if someone is going to manipulate it, they are going to do it regardless of it's 1001 delegates or 101 delegates.

No matter what the rules people provide, even if there is a 1% advantage, there is someone willing to take advantage of it.

That is human nature.  If you change the system for something else, they will still come and try.

Which is why you need to make the system as bulletproof as possible.

The fact that voting power exponentially increases worries me. As stated elsewhere, this not only makes a 51% attack possible, you'd probably need a much lower amount.

Hi, everyone!

I'm the initial Crypti investor that kick-started the whole project financially back at 2014.

All the lisk rewarded from Delegates ran by DRDD, be used to form a DAPPs fund.
All the funds will go to dapp which have most of votes in "DAPP Contest".
As soon as the funds be enough to develop, they will be transferred to the winner. After that new "DAPP Contest" will start.
Or say you already have a DAPP. And it's really great and useful? You can participate in contest and win funds for promotion.

I would like to see everyone in cooperation with me. DAAPs is one of the most attractive part of Lisk. As much DAAPs we will have as much attractive our platform will be for everyone. Everyone should find the dapp he needs in Lisk DAPP Store.

Please take a look at the uploaded file with foundation working process. https://lisk.chat/ufs/rocketchat_uploads/6YDbmKuxK7BGi2t8p/drdd.png
Numbers are not final. The all can be adjusted. Say 40% for voters, 55% for contest, 5% for support, or whatever.

What are the voting intervalls?

Voting is continuous and never stops.  Anybody can be voted up or down at any time.  This is why it is so important to have hot-swap Standby Delegate nodes (at zero reward) ready to go continuously to take the place of a $300K-per-year Active Delegate node that is suddenly voted down.

What could possibly go wrong?
