I wonder if people are still mining this coin... I haven't fired up my wallet in several months.

I mined some ages ago, I wonder if we should all check our wallets

Did you ever find a pool for Hawaiicoin? Any blocks by solomining?

I think the Virtual Currency Businesses Act from 2017 really hampered any forward looking crypto advancements in Hawaii, but I'd really have liked being able to use a Hawaiian crypto when I visit the islands.

For those living there, My question is how is crypto accessibility and function in the state of Hawaii.

Its pretty hampered. My Coinbase account was shut down 1 or 2 years ago because of Hawaii's stupid legislation saying that exchanges operating there had to have an equal amount of cash on reserve as they did cryptocurrency.

There are two semi-functional bitcoin ATMs. One is in a vape shop I think. But nobody accepts bitcoin for anything, besides a couple of hotels that use BitPay (on Kauai and the Big Island).

What's weird is Google Trends says more searches for bitcoin come from Hawaii than any other state. People there really like to gamble, so I think they are mostly interested in it as an investment opportunity.

That's a bummer, I would have really liked to use crypto more the next time I visit, maybe the laws will have changed by the next time I plan a trip, but I won't hold my breath.

In the meantime, until a pool opens up I am going to put a solo CPU on HIC in hopes I get some blocks that may work in the future on the islands.

Did any businesses adopt this currency?

I see it's been some time, but I think the emperor semount chain would benefit from adoption of a zero premine, no ICO, still accessable and mineable native Hawaiian currency.

It's really nifty to see HIC back.

Now I feel like I can suggest a community aim to help those affected on the Big Island in some way.

There's no need to join a mining pool. There hasn't been a block mined in 15 weeks. You should be able to solo mine blocks because the difficulty is incredibly low.

I just checked http://blocks.hicoin.us:8080/status and it looks like you all may have fixed it? I see a new blocks mined today.

It looks like the network is synced now, congratulations, I think its back from the brink.

yep, somebody is mining the shit out of this coin. In 5.6 days they will have surpassed my total accumulation.

A dead coin is reborn! (sort of, block explorer is still kind of a mess and we have 1 node to speak of).

If you want to try mining this coin, you can download it from here:

It would be fun to bring it back to life again.

What is this coin all about? It was created in 2014 and no one knows anything about it, no progress what so ever, why are people still posting in this thread? I'm genuinely curious.

I have a big stash I'd like to make worth money.

However, there's nobody actively mining it so new blocks can't be formed.

I tried solo mining but nothing happened. Frankly I don't want to burn my CPU trying to mine it, but the difficulty is very low (solo mining should be no problem), and if there's 500 mined per block then it would only take you a day or so to catch up with me.

There's 4 transactions waiting to be confirmed. That will net the next successful miner a juicy 4 HIC in tx fees.

The coin is down to 1 node.

I can't sync the last 12 weeks, which makes me think the node doesn't have them.

The difficulty is currently 0.07094913, so there's no need to join a mining pool.

Would be nice if HIC could tell this project to sail away because this was here first.

I don't. I did like you said and cloned to gitlab just to be sure it stays available, but I do have the Hawaiicoinwinv2.zip I will upload to mega for you since it's what I've got.

OK thanks. I imported one of my old wallet.dats and my coins are still there, so that's a good sign.

One problem: the sync is stopped at 31 weeks ago -- my last block was on Nov. 25, 2017. I might need you to connect to the network so I can sync from you. However, from what I know about blockchains, it feels like the two nodes who I'm connected to should have whatever transactions you added to the chain.

The two nodes are:

13.58.217.38   United States    Ohio   Columbus
52.32.228.80   United States    Oregon   Portland

I think I may need to addnode you. If you PM me the IP of your node (I think its just your IP address but then again I'm not entirely knowledgeable when it comes to mining), and we work out a time when we're both online, then hopefully I can sync the rest of the blocks. And then, if you send me your HIC address, I'll send you a thousand coins. And voila, Hawaiicoin is reborn.

I utilized this post, downloaded and learned how to setgenerate true

The download page is down. I tried to recompile the wallet from GitHub, noticed that there was a new commit made last November, but I couldn't do it for whatever reason.

You seem to have been the only miner in the past few months. That means when you fire your wallet up, you're the entire network! If you have the original hawaiicoin-src.tar.gz, would you mind uploading it to mega.co.nz or somewhere similar? How about this: if you do it, and I have coins in one of my three wallet.dat files, I'll send you a thousand.

This coin seems to be dead as dead. I'm not the guy to get it listed on exchanges or anything, but it would be fun to breathe new life into it.
