HIC dev team was hard at work this holiday weekend coding and testing new Security fixes and network upgrades.  Final QA testing was completed yesterday on Linux wallets and daemons for pool services.  Welcome dark gravity wave 3 (DGW3) and Art Forz’s block analysis algo (as found in bitcoin code) to the HIC system!  The network is stable and is now showing resiliency against 51% attack and flash mining.

Next up stay tuned for Windows and Mac OSX wallets!

I added a small miner to the pool, I hope I will not stay alone    Wink

Ravena,

Did you get the hash power on the pool?
As a thank you, I'd like to send you 10,000 HIC.  Please send your wallet address so I can fund it.

Hi, I have the problem at the moment that I can not synchronize the wallet, I added the suggested nodes. I have windows 7/64 bit while the wallet requires 32 bits, but I do not think this is the problem.
If I do not update my portfolio, I do not think it wise to give the address wallet.
I also tried to reset the pin on the "hawaiicoin" cz121 account, but I do not get the email with the pin.

Ravena,

Go into your wallet and in debug console add the following peer IPs:

> addnode 52.11.168.21 add
> addnode 13.58.217.38 add

We encourage you (and everyone else wanting to mine HIC) to check out the new/updated HIC pool at http://pool.hicoin.us and register for a new account.

Also, for anyone wanting to set up an HIC pool (in a minute or less!) please feel free to use our Hawaiicoin/HIC_POOL docker hub image:
https://hub.docker.com/r/hawaiicoin/hic_pool/
docker pull hawaiicoin/hic_pool

I'm waiting for the beginning of ico
There is very little left!
Good luck to the team!

Only 15.7M coins mined out of 500M.  That's only 3% of all Hawaiicoin ever mined.  97% left to mine!

Hello HIC supporters and community members.

I'm sure there are many questions involving the sudden disappearance of my team and I, but I assure you we are still alive and well.

Bullshit. Talk is cheap. FIX YOUR DAMN COIN!

I'm not mining shit until you fix HIC 1.0.

Hello HIC supporters and community members.

I'm sure there are many questions involving the sudden disappearance of my team and I, but I assure you we are still alive and well.
It's been almost three years since we put the brakes on the Hawaiicoin project, and it's allowed us the time necessary to appreciate the work and complexity that come with, and volatility that surround the launching, operating, and marketing of a new coin.  The year of work surrounding the build, launch, and operation of HIC seems like a blur that passed us so quickly, but as we consider the achievements and possibilities around this coin we continue to seek ways to get involved once again with the network.  The lessons learned can be found below in the new HIC version 2 mission statement.  Many of these lessons were painful, and took considerable free and family time away from our team, which is why we are now asking for the broader community to step up and as we look to phase 2 of HIC we shall ensure that no one small group of people are left "holding the bag".

HIC-2 Mission
The goal of HIC has always been to create a "token" that could offer value in the form of connecting all participants who either share the love for, or wish to experience the lifestyle of Hawaii - the land, it's people, and culture.  In order to do this, there must be intrinsic value and incentive at all times for HIC network operators (miners, pool owners, etc.), HIC token collectors, and those who accept HIC.  Value can only come in the form of a democratic, community-based consensus in all aspects that affect HIC.

For HIC version 2 to be successful this time around and address the mission statement, there are a few items that we believe will contribute to the stated goal while building on the lessons learned from the initial launch:

  • Community-Driven Approach:  HIC founders spent a considerable amount of time with the project, outside of their day jobs.  We are all professionals attempting to make a living while working on building HIC to it's fullest potential.  All decisions concerning the way forward shall take into consideration feedback and welcome contributions from those who are participating in and adding value to othe HIC network.
  • Robust HIC Network:  HIC has a checkered past when it comes to the stability of the network.  Although the integrity of the HIC transactions has never been in question because of the integrity of the blockchain architecture, it did suffer setbacks because of flash mining by miners that took advantage of any opportunity to generate HIC tokens when the difficulty was low.  Many years have passed since the last HIC block was mined on Dec 1, 2014 and since then much has been written about and even proposed related to fixing this problem.  We hope to be able to solicit input from the community on what should be done to remediate this issue before proceeding.  For more information on the problem space and solutions see this great posting https://medium.com/@Mengerian/bringing-stability-to-bitcoin-cash-difficulty-adjustments-eae8def0efa4.  A stable network will result in confidence for all parties involved in contributing to the value of HIC.
  • Work Small, but Think Big:  Many books have been written on the topic of focusing on the task at hand while at the same time thinking of the bigger picture.  Tactically while our members will execute on the two items above, we will as a community consider all options for HIC and not limit it's potential for use.  My team is always exploring opportunities for blockchain use such as provenance in supply chain management functions, federated authentication and identification, machine learning data sets, and automation of cybersecurity functions.  There is no reason why HIC could not be leveraged for any of these, or other ideas from people much smarter than us.  Let's keep an open mind.  The name "Hawaii" holds special meaning for a lot of people so let's see where destiny takes us!

Additionally, we have done a little work recently with bringing the pool back to life.  It can be accessed at http://pool.privanon.com.  Stratum+TCP mining is up.  All accounts that were active 3 years ago are still in place - so log back in and feel that surge of nostalgia - please!  Start mining if you wish, but keep in mind that things are going to change with the network so consider this time as one to slowly ramp back up.  We assure you though that all previously mined tokens and transactions on the ledger WILL survive and any code changes or even a move to an entirely new hashing algorithm will include some method to assure that a 1-for-1 exchange is facilitated.  We have already thrown 5MH/s against the pool for 24 hours and confirmed that the blockchain is still in tact, healthy, and a few new blocks have been generated to test the system.  The blockchain explorer can be accessed at http://pool.privanon.com:8080/chain/Hawaiicoin.  You'll notice block 31459 mined on 11/2 at 23:13 UTC.  Wallets can be downloaded at http://www.hicoin.org.

More to come soon.  ALOHA!

This coin is dead, dev not here. Dont buy this coin.

You can't buy it because you can't move it. Blockchain's broken somehow. I don't even know how that shit happens.
I'm certainly not going to take the time to solve the problem just so some fuckers can unload stashes much huger than mine.

Hello everyone

Long story but I received bad news regarding a potentially terminal illness an had to seek medical experts to get well.  I have since recovered but decided to change some habits.  It has been an awesome ride here but I must spend more time with the family and am in the process of relocating in the next few months with a major job change in the works.

For those interested in taking over the project I have version 2 of the HIC website (using bootstrap back end) so we can replace the wordpress one.  I also have completed and QA tested version 2 of the wallet with an entirely new interface (Hawaiian theme)...which I was planning to launch until I got word of my health problem.

Email me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to hand over the logins for all of the HIC sites including github in the hopes that someone will be able to continue the legacy!

Aloha

Welcome back. I'm glad to hear your health problems were not as bad as you feared.

Just emailed you.

Edit:
Just noticed it's the 1 year anniversary of the coin! In fact, if I'm not mistaken, 1 year and 34 minutes exactly as I type this.   Smiley

So HawaiiCoin Developer Guy,

What Happened??

We were about to eat lunch one day, and the next HIC is delisted from Bittrex. OK no biggie. My bag cost me about $30, so I'm over it. But you never got back to me! I still work downtown, hit me up.

Its just a bitch that HIC can no longer conduct transactions. If you want to PM me with the GitHub login info, I will take over this project, even though I don't even own 100,000 HICs.

That's the thing about Hawaii, its so awesome and there's so many things to do and see, its really hard to dedicate all your attention towards something highly nerdy and time consuming... I mean, something that requires your complete focus.

Fuck it, I'm gonna come out with my own Warrior, Kanaka or Opihicoin. Only a few more months until college football begins. I really would have liked to use HawaiiCoin for this website I was gonna build but... I'm not really a marketer, advertiser, nor do I have much capital to play with.

Anybody else wanna take a stab at finding out whats broken and fix it? I'll buy you a mai tai when you come to Waikiki! For reals. Alright peace out community,

Nutildah the Hungry,
Destroyer of Buffets
I must say I had a huge bag of these coins from the beginning of mining. I did sell them all but I liked where the coin could have gone. If the dev does get back to you he doesn't have to give you the GitHub login information. Just be sure to have an account created and he can assign you as an administrator of the project. Once you are the admin, you can remove him. Hope all goes well for you in your attempt to revive this coin.

Maybe the developers have abandoned the project, but if you're reading this thread the official pool is stuck.  I was mining again a few weeks ago but got thousands of coins that never confirmed and I decided to stop wasting my electricity.

Have been checking periodically and it still is stuck in the same place.  Maybe you need to restart the server and point a miner at it to keep it working? Even just a couple of low-end gridseeds and an RPI should be enough to keep the network minimally ticking if you're planning to do anything with this project.

Yeah cmon HawaiiCoin guy, restart the server. I got a new laptop, I will try running a couple of miners from it. I have yet to successfully mine 1 HIC, now that the block reward is halving... I have half the incentive to care anymore.

This could have been an actual thing. Hawaii actually needs its own currency, separate from the dollar. But it suffers from the same problem as bitcoin -- its just internet nerd money and you need to be an internet nerd to use it. Somehow this barrier has to be broken.
