When is this going to hit so I can inform my PIM (Partner in Mining).

He is at his house sound asleep, and will awaken very PISSED OFF because he has 6MH/s running at Hashing.at, and is currently #1 in hashing power on the server.

He has quite the stake, and will need some sort of clear-cut explanation.

Besides, your pool has 16 confirmations left to clear block 767... and pay-out.

No action is necessary from him at the moment.

As if I do this he will just start mining on the new chain automatically.

Yeah is 16 from 30 though Smiley

Rolling it back about 5 or so blocks to 775 for the fix would be a better idea than cutting out 55 more blocks than necessary. The difficulty only jumped during the last several blocks.

Yeah... I mined your mom last night.

To boldly go where no rabbit has gone before...

block 767 was solved on your pool... which I have a 1,208.2 pi stake in...

If we were to do this... would I lose all of that? Will I be able to earn it back quickly?

To answer your question, yes. Sadly, the blockchain explorer isn't working so I couldn't tell exactly when the diff went crazy, so I just went back 60 blocks, which will orphan 767 if the chain from my code is accepted by the network.

I don't know how long it'll take you to earn it back, but a lot less than it'll take to mine the main chain at those difficulties I'll bet!

Explorer is working now

There should be a re-launch

Well, IMO that's not really fair on miners who mined blocks 1-720. I rolled back as little as possible under the circumstances. Of course, it's a consensus thing, and if people want a relaunch, all they have to do is not mine either chain.

Ok I`m just gonna switch to the new daemon since mining at 1700+ is pointless ...

sumpool,

I had 1006 unconfirmed pi on my account, and it is all of a sudden missing.

Can you please explain?

This fix looks good to me. So few blocks have been mined since 720, that I think pulling this chain now would be a good idea. Diff is broken at the moment - the longer it's left this way, the more people will lose out. Best to nip it in the bud now and get KGW running.

Well, I kept as much of the chain as I thought sane under the circumstances (not much time or people will stop mining and the coin will die) - I couldn't tell accurately how late I could cut the chain, since the published block explorer isn't working. Hopefully I minimized coin loss as much as possible, as anything mined up until block 719 will be valid on the new fork.

https://pi.crunchhharder.net is gradually catching up with the broken blockchain, but we need two things if this chain is to be adopted:

1. Enough hashrate at CrunchHarder to orphan the 60 blocks that led to the broken sky-high difficulty.

2. Other pools to build and deploy the wallet from https://github.com/Paul-Bradley/projectpiCoin

That doesn't mean it has been labeled OFFICIALLY yet.

If you want to do that, then your pool needs to be updated.

Currently it shows:
Code:

Est. Shares 7,057,975 (done: 0.21%)

Pool Invalid 0 (0.00%)
Your Invalid 0 (0.00%)

Move over to https://pi.crunchharder.net/index.php   !!

I've built the new daemon but the problem is ... there's currently around 70 MH/s at my pool (http://pi.hashing.at/) and I can't just switch people over without some sort of agreement.

However if we don't switch ... I don't see this coin getting fixed by the dev anytime soon ... and mining at 1700 difficulty is ...

Well I understand that, and I respect that integrity from a pool owner  -  it's not exactly the rule. However, if you don't switch people, you are wasting their hashes. It's not clear either way.

BTW Windows wallet on the way, had to make a tiny few other typo fixes (not functional/blockchain related) to get it building, think it'll be OK this time. Will send another pull request once I have it building.

You should be aware though we are on an "unofficial" blockchain (not that anything can truly be official in a decentralized cryptocurrency), so it's possible, if enough people didn't want to mine this chain, it might not be the accepted one and the coins might be orphaned (lost) - hopefully though, the devs accept my fixes.

I have

a. rolled the blockchain back to a time when there was sane diff (as close as I could guess without a working block explorer, so as to minimise coin loss - I went to block 720, so back 60 blocks or so)

b. fixed the timewarp exploit recently found in KGW

Windows wallet building now, but need a little while to test. Coming very soon.

https://github.com/Paul-Bradley/projectpiCoin - I unstuck the blockchain and rolled it back to block 720 where KGW kicks in. Obviously, anyone is welcome to not mine this chain, but it's better than a stuck one and I didn't want to waste my time setting up a pool then not have a blockchain!!!

We're hashing this (unstuck) chain now at https://pi.crunchharder.net

Devs - pull request in your inbox!

Windows wallet coming in a minute...
