Phantom is going to be A GUI interface, with options like picking server locations, price, and much more.
You pay in Shift coins.
Phantom is going to a be dApp on a sidechain too.
Goal for Mainnet release is end of month.

Imagine I am a web developer.
I exactly understood nothing from that answer.
except maybe GUI.

Do I get templates? Can I use a merchant application for payments? Does it integrate with social media?

Or is that another layer in between? Who is the customer of SHIFT?

Edit: Also, EOS is going for ICO. Is this similar to EOS? I realize you must be ahead in development. How do you think you will get the investors behind you to outbeat EOS fuzz/buzz.? Or they will roll over this project in 1 year?

I'm pretty sure trnpall got it wrong.

SHIFTs idea is to make decentralized webhosting possible, meaning, instead of a central server somewhere, you host your content via IPFS in a cloud of peer-to-peer users, who are rewarded in SHIFT.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I really like @ttookk's description/definition here.  The thing I'm not sure about, though, is whether that is a description of Shift Phantom or Shift.   I wonder if someone would like to clarify.

The Phantom in testnet is planned to be released today or tomorrow. While the Phantom in mainnet will follow after some days. Beginning of the next week.

Any news on this?

Nodes can get paid for host the websites, and websites pay to host their nodes on the network. You can imagine it a bit like how Sia does.

I understand the idea behind it, but can someone tell me what role the coin itself will play in this great project? why should the price increase?

Is this coin the first IPFS ready coin?

There is Atmos, it has a file sharing network using IPFS in place.

Hey, I'm fairly new to coin mining, so I was wondering if someone could help start me off with Shift. I did a bit of research and it seems that all the Shiftcoin pools that I have found are offline, or require you to already possess SHF. Any help?

Thanks in advance, Raze.

Hi,  a couple of weeks ago I voted for 4 delegates.  1 delegate (seatrips) send me some shift back I assume as a reward for voting for them, thank you, but that was a couple weeks ago.  The other 3 have not sent given me anything.  Is this in the normal course of events? Do you think I voted for some bad delegates and been short-changed (except it seems seatrip)? Should I expect more rewards from them Huh?

Hi guys i bought some shift than i voted for some delegate, how long does it take for the first payment? i'm voting since 6 days
Thanks

I depends on your voting weight and not all delegates run as pools. The following delegates are pools (sharing percentage varies);
seatrips, gregorst, shiftraider, shiftspider, bawga, shiftpool, jamiec79, official_pool, djandre (from saluki on the Ryver chat)

Most pools have websites that you can check your stats such as;
https://pool.gregorst.org/
https://pool.seatrips.nl/

The forging reward for Shift is fairly low (1 Shift per block) so depending on your weight it might take a bit to reach a payout threshold. Usually it's .1 around 1 from what I've seen.

Thank you, seems I have to be patient. Meanwhile - long live seatrips.

As I have been reading on EOS, it is planning to compete against Ethereum/Ethereum Classic.  I see is as Ethereum but with Dpos instead of Pow/Pos.  It seems likely to me that   dApps could potentially be developed in EOS which will offer the same functionality with Shift Dapps and developers may do so in the future once the EOS platform is released; Not sure how it will play out.  Right now a EOS token is worth 3 dollars resulting in a 3 billion marketcap, while the shift network is  20 million.  Potentially, the shift network could become an alternative to EOS and if so, it is very very cheap right now.  If this is a winner take all game then I think shift faces stiff competition for its ambitions; maybe there will be room for various alternatives though, or shift can carve out a niche that will make it successful but not the top dog, that is if it fails to become the top dog.
