A small fork has been detected on the network. It is actively being corrected. Please check your Sterlingcoin wallet's block height against that of either explorer: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/slg/ or http://transactions.sterlingcoin.org , they are both correct.

If you find your block height does not match that of the explorers, recent snapshots are available on the website and under the 'Download' navigation.

Sorry for any inconvience.

My wallet happened to be on that fork, so I downloaded a snapshot from "Recent Snapshots" -> "Windows/Mac (Berkeley DB 6.1)" link from the "Downloads" section of the sterlingcoin.org. However it seems to be more than 230 days old. Will it help to switch to the right fork? I am not sure the fork is that old...

Yes, it should get you on the right track because most, if not all, other nodes are on the right track now. Allow it to run its course and fully sync.

There is one public node, which stubbornly stays on the wrong fork and continues to stake... I believe it forced my wallet move to the wrong fork.. Hopefully it wouldn't do that again, but I'll keep backing up the chain while syncing, so I can rollback to pre-fork state if my wallet follows the fork again.

In any case it would be nice to have a fresh snapshot on the website. I can provide one as soon as I sync.

Thank you for offering and sorry Sterlingcoin has given you difficulties. A more recent snapshot would be a great help. PM'd.

No problem. I've synced now (used the "connect=" entries inb the .conf file instead of "addnode=", to exclude the faulty node(s).
I've shared the snapshot too in PM.

Thanks for your help, and for standing by this project!

Hello Sterlingcoiners,

Sorry for the gap in communication. I have been extremely busy in my personal life and profession.

While the new SLG code has made progress, I'm still getting some unexpected results; specifically with staking on the, what will become, new blockchain. I am going to consult with some upstream developers for some advise. Hopefully they can offer me the insight I need to have another public test ready to run in the coming weeks.

Again, sorry for the slow communication. But work has been continuing at the fastest possible rate when time is found.

Kind regards and cheers!

Hello Sterlingcoiners,

This weekend we are going to start the first public tests of the new codebase. I do not expect it to go off without a hitch, in fact I expect them. But it is only a test, a dry-run of sorts. The swap will be simulated also. No existing Sterlingcoin will be moved, but this is a good opportunity to put the swap interface through some paces also. Feel free to poke around at that interface. Of course, do not send coins.

If you are interested in participating in the testing, please join us in our Discord. The only prerequisites to help with testing are: 1) access to a Linux machine (VM or VPS are fine) and 2) being reasonable available should we need to clear the blockchain, pull, rebuild, and start the process over.

Several are already ready to help this testing, many thanks to them. The testing should start within 24 hours. Feel welcome to join us over the weekend.

Wishing you all, and especially our tests Wink , a great weekend!

The test was launched this morning, about 12 hours prior to the time of this post and 12 hours after the quoted post. While some issues have made themselves apparent, there is no need to not let the testing run through its mining phases. PoW was set to only 3 days, ending Monday morning and only being CPU mined so most anyone could. The test will continue all weekend and into next week. All-in-all not largely disappointing results thus far, though I admit work does remain. This test's purpose was to help identify those needs. Not by any means to be a showcase of a finished product. Thanks in advance if you can find the time to help test a larger network than I can alone.

Cheers!

To update the community about the test this past weekend, much was learned and corrected. While it did not demonstrate a ready client, it was a success because it moved it forward towards that. Work does continue, another test blockchain is already started. Another public test will be launched in the near future.

Thanks for the continued support!

Well done on getting us listed on a new exchange.

I take it that Exlly is brand new, as there is zero volume there at the minute?

We need to try and establish a proper market there somehow.

Sterling Sentinel

Actually the listing came unexpectedly.

Yes, it appears to be very, very new.  But if they are going to list and tweet, we would prefer the Sterlingcoin name spelled correctly. That has been the only source of the only communication and experience with the exchange. So I am uncertain of the exchange and cannot vouch for the validity or security of it.

Exlly was contacted to correct the spelling of Sterlingcoin, one word instead of two. They just now responded and said it will be corrected ASAP.

Have a safe and very Merry Christmas!

No problem!
The most important thing is the team have kept doing their works, and developing the project despite of the terrible bearish year of 2018.
Fortunately, it has finally gone away, and a year of 2019 to come with Green positive early signals.

Merry Christmas Sterlingcoiners!

Sorry for the lack of updates since November's posted update above. The holidays, my family life, my professional work, and harvesting of field crops have kept me very busy in December. I have found small amounts of time to do some simulated tests of what I foresee as the best path for launching of the new blockchain and its mining (swap option 1 from November's linked post / update).

After the holidays are past, I would like to do some public testing. Community members interested in participating should join our Discord or be in some other direct contact with me and others of the testing. Reason being we may, in fact most likely will, need to delete the chain and start the process over a number of times. So some semi-direct, at least daily-availability, communication will be needed as well as access to a Linux machine (virtual or VPS would be fine).

Ok, that is all for now. I did not want anyone to think the plan has been abandoned. Apologies for the silence.

Have a safe and very Merry Christmas!

I go transactions.sterlingcoin.org.uk
I enter the transaction ID
Appears in the "Block Height or Hash not found."

How to see the transaction? Are you working on this? There is a link to the "working" blockchain?

The explorer is working fine, you may be entering the transaction ID incorrectly. Be sure you remove any trailing recipient number (i.e. "-000") from the transaction ID. Enter the entire transaction ID otherwise.
