Thanks for the further replies corather and CryptoNick.

I'd already run the -repairwallet and -rescan commands in console on the laptop and this did not work. After getting the desktop working again I copying the entire contents of the AppData/Roaming/SolarCoin folder back onto the laptop and it's now working fine.

Still don't know what the underlying problem was. I've had a few power outages before but the laptop normally works fine again after restarting the wallet. Would be very interested to know if there is something recorded in the debug.log, or any alternative log file, that could pin point what the issue was. Any ideas on what to look for?

The reload blockchain option has worked on the desktop, so I'll copy this back to the laptop and see how it goes. Not sure why it didn't work on the laptop directly though, maybe it's just slow and old, like myself.  Grin

Thanks once again for the assistance.

Try the -repairwallet command and then -rescan.

You can try deleting everything except the wallet file in the %appdata%/solarcoin folder then reloading the blockchain. It's sometimes required. It's a little buggy, but the workarounds always work.

Thanks corather and vipgelsi.

I've actually done both those things a number of times now without any success. The laptop has been restarted around five times already with rescans and reloads done a number of times. I'll give it a another go on the desktop and see what happens.

Hi all,

Looking for some assistance, hope someone here can help. I've been staking for a while now on an old Windows 7 laptop of mine but Sunday past the region in which I live suffered a power outage for around 10 hours. The laptop has been running off mains power as the battery is no good, consequently the laptop was also down for these 10 hours.

Once power was restored I fired up the laptop and the SolarCoin wallet successfully but the wallet has been stuck on Syncing ever since. I've tried a rescan but this still results in the wallet remaining in Syncing.

I've tried installing the current 2.1.1 wallet on an alternative Windows 7 PC and using a wallet backup, again the wallet will not sync fully and seems to get "stuck" at the same point each time. Both the PC and laptop have network connections, so connectivity does not appear to be the issue. If I copy the contents of AppData/Roaming/SolarCoin from the laptop to the PC I also get the same result.

I've disabled staking on the wallet to see if this has any effect, the wallet still remains as Syncing and all I see is the Blocks Remaining count slowly increase as other nodes find blocks.

Looking at debug.log I'm currently showing a consistent stream of ORPHAN BLOCK messages for a number of IPs - not sure if this is related.

Using checkwallet in console shows "wallet check passed" : true.

I'm stuck for ideas, so any suggestions are greatly welcome and appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Reload the blockchain, that should clear things up.

Making things better with better things.
For those interested in progress on the Lykke Exchange here is a quote from the lead dev:

Quote
The short term plan is the following:
- Lykke will issue colored coins for SolarCoin: each colored coin will represent IOU to deliver 1 SolarCoin in SolarCoin blockchain
- Lykke will develop a cloud service ('vending machine'), which will be used to deposit/withdraw SolarCoins
- Participating members of the SolarCoin community will form initial liquidity cushion by sending coins to this vending address
- Lykke will issue the correspondent amount of SC colored coins and transfer them to hot wallet of the market maker
- Lykke will also send the equivalent amount of FX colored coins (USD, EUR, BTC) to the same hot wallet
- Market making algorithm will be configured to quote double sided liquidity (parameters tbd, may be inferred from historical price data of SolarCoin)
- Participants of the Lykke Exchange will be able to trade SolarCoin colored coins, cash out colored coins to their SolarCoin address, cash in SolarCoins to Lykke Wallet

This is from the solarCoin channel on the Lykke slack.  https://lykkex.slack.com/messages/solarcoin/
