Most pools dont pay enough to quit your day job.
Just as an academic exercise, is there a reasonable way to estimate the approximate gross revenue a business like multipool.us generates annually ?
That's very hard especially since this revenue is tied to variations in the value of each cryptocurrency and their profitability at the moment the owners 'cash in'. I'd say it's near to impossible to estimate.

It aint necessary to defend anything, things just go wrong for some reason.
Look the other way around, many miners are slamming on the door to get back in again, they wouldnt do that if multipool was bad, wouldnt they?
The frustration is with the feedback, look at the site right now, no status update on the front, and here you have to find them in a bunch off messages.
And i still have no clue if i can trust the variables on the website.
Make the status update on the site show anything, maybe with a link to here for some extra information, and don't put status messages in a respond to users, they will get down under and missed very quickly.
A system admin is married twice, first with his systems, second with his wife/husband or whatever, that aint a excuse after all

You sound really condescending. Yes, we got one update via the front end approx. 12 hours after the outage began. This is the official multipool.us support forum. There has been no update or advisory here since this problem began over 24 hours ago.

I don't know....you don't know. The difference is you are guessing and I would simply like a 30 second update directly from the admin so I don't have to guess.

Great mining pool its sweet when its up, but when its down it feels like a giant dark hole.
E-mails getting unanswered, i noticed a takedown of the mining-pools after a e-mail, and a little change in the front message.
But what about all those hours mining? Are the coins counted? Are they lost in cyberspace?

Sure thing is, if coins are mined, they go in someone wallet.
I myself understand how hard it's to maintain some servers and DB. But! if the DB or anything else is down, shutting down all services related to mining is mandatory...until the problem is solved.

i didn't imply earlier that i felt my work/coins will have been lost/wasted/stolen for the last 24 hours - hence my move from the pool. these things have happened before and he has always got everything back in sync eventually. it is the issue of timing with these types of coins so i'll move away until everything is back to normal then move back. a day delay before trading these coins can make the difference between a nice profit or just heating up the house/office.

Looking at your recent posts, you and SpaceCadet seem to know what you are talking about. And I guess nobody here can trow the first stone!
I think most of us here are just worried about the lost hash's delivered (read: results) to the network and no doubt it's reason for some extra grey hairs trying to fix the pool. And yes, I agree with you, better to check-in with the pool after it's completely up and running and there was time for a summary to be written.
A 30 second one-line saying he's on it still would surely encourage confidence.
You guys have no idea what it is like to run a pool. It is stressful. Low pay for hours worked for most pool admins. Long long hours. Constant uptime is the goal. Constant hacking attempts, dos attacks, and fraud. Users asking questions every hour. The db for a pool is so heavily used it is staggering. 1000s of inserts/reads/updates a second. Any software change can cost you money if it messes up. Not just your money but other people's too that can be stolen in a blink of an eye. Now add in more complexity being a multi pool and it is even more work. Give the guy a break. Switch to another pool for a day or two and let him recover. He will explain everything. Rebuilding a server(s) takes hours and hours of non stop work. Little sleep. Stress. Then come back when he is done. I dont know of a single pool that has a perfect track record.

But what did we do to you to let us behind in the dark, guessing what is wrong, and burning electricity (and it aint cheap in the netherlands) for nothing, atleast it looks that way for now.
what about a little feedback overhere, just to let us know what is going on.
Right now the site is up and the pools seems to be running again, but still no payments, not counting blocks, and frontend says no blocks found in about 25 hours, for some reason i do not believe the stats for now.
Come on guys, just a little information, that shouldnt be to difficult! It aint tocket science, and it just takes a minute or 2.

Depends on coin. Doge and MOON are 1000, EAC is 50 and the rest are 1.
Is this also for BTC (and other hard to mine coins) where a value 0.01 is acceptable payout?

All you noobs - chill! Flound is totally legit. I've been mining on multipool for over 6 months. Yes, the pools are fouled up, but not because it's a scam. Running multiple coin across three server farms is complex and a challenge on a good day, so when things go bad, they can go REAL bad, especially if you are under an attack. Sure, Flound could post more updates, but if he's up to his elbows in the system, he's got more on his mind than I'd want to deal with!
Give him some time. Mine elsewhere until things are stable here, but know that he's doing all he can to restore the system and to protect your earnings as best he can.
If you can't do something good — don't do. I don't care how complicated it is to run a pool. Do someone out of here care how hard to maintain a mining farm? Oh guys, I am so tired, things are so complicated, hardware dies, continuous power issues, etc etc. Does anybody care of that? I don't think so. They said it is safe to mining but then the site was restored and continue like if nothing happened. They could at least give us some info about what is going on, like "no worries, you'll be paid once we fix something" or "sorry, but the coins are lost but it is safe to mining now". But I don't see anything like that.

No one is dissing Flound, everyone liked multipool and most will come back.
However, the lack of timely communication is unprofessional and breeds distrust.

This is ridiculous, for the whole day on 1/24 the pool was running at something above 10GH, and that did not find any block? You got to be kidding me.

Agreed it is hard work running a pool, but a few minutes just to say "Hey I'm doing my best to get things sorted, let me get on with it" and there wouldn't be so much speculation on this thread.

No one thinks running a pool is a cakewalk. But taking out 30 seconds to update customers on the pool's status isn't much to ask at all. I don't care how hard the job is.....he's got 30 seconds to communicate to customers who give him money. These lectures are B.S. IMHO.
