What are some of the outstanding challenges facing the Counterparty Protocol?
Not being able to escrow BTC. If this was solved effectively how much of an effect would that have??? I think it would be a very big deal (the DEx would be more useful than ever, for example) but I would like to hear the opinion of others.
No Smart Contracts live yet. This is only a matter of time.

I will give 50 XCP (worth of $42.84 now) for that who register asset (alphabetic) what have biggest amount of google search results.
Example "EARTH" About 1,060,000,000 results (0.35 seconds).
Rules are that asset must have registered after 383931 block (now).
Address what have register asset need to have total 5 or more registered alphabetic asset before or after this competition have start (5 asset worth with this time price is $4.28).
Everyone is welcome to join to competition.
Asset name can have two or more word with space in google search.

Agree! I also would like to know about the reasons for your vision.
I am new to Counterparty but I bought a reasonable stake over the last weeks and I continue to buy.

Recent history aside, should we expect the XCP price to be coupled to BTC or USD long-term? Perhaps the answer is USD since it wouldn't make sense for smart contracts to become 10x more expensive to execute when the BTC price increases 10x, right? That would mean we can expect the XCP/BTC price to decrease whenever the BTC/USD price increases.
I don't think so. XCP price is driven by speculation only. Are you talking about what will be in distant future? Speculation is much more complex than just counting the fees.
And there are many reasons why not to buy XCP now. This does not depend on BTC price

Could someone explain me what GUERILLA is? I've just checked my counterwallet and saw that someone sent me 10 GUERILLA.

Future CP wallets should have a SPAM folder.
For now, at least be happy all spam (all asset transfers) comes with a cent or so worth of bitcoin dust. So at least you earn a little for the spam you receive.

Symbiont has repeatedly said that XCP is a major part of their toolkit, and they will use it when applicable. But I would also like to know more about this gateway.
The article describes it pretty well: "The gateway allows users to send Counterparty assets through the Ripple network, and to transfer those assets back into the Counterparty network. Further, both on the Ripple and Counterparty networks, assets may be stored in offline wallets, to ensure maximum security."
The code does indeed exist (it wasn't an April fools day thing, despite the date on the article

I'm considering to buy some XRP. On my research I read that Counterparty will be used by a broker and financial companies. Is this true and if so, why is the price so low then?
