Why this is good news for Counterparty? As I understand Symbiont working separate from Counterparty?

RootStock [http://www.rootstock.io/] is a reminder of the potential for the Counterparty Protocol to be the Bitcoin-Blockchain embedded smart contract system.

There should be good cross-pollination of ideas and hopefully interoperability between these projects.

What do any long term holders from launch or close think about buying now. Lowest market cap ever atm... Ive watched for a while and considered buying in before anyone have 'real' analysis?

A great time to buy, just do it daily and steadily... little by little.

It will stay flat / keep dropping until new news comes out imo.

Right.
That makes it a good time to buy IF one believes in the future of XCP. Now could be the "calm before the storm".
I don't want to "pump" the coin by telling people this is the time to invest, of course there's always RISK involved as with all investing ESPECIALLY crypto.
But subjectively I believe in XCP and I think it's going to be huge, so in my VERY subjective, amateurish assessment now could be a great time to buy precisely because it's flat and nothing is happening.
I was very successful with crypto, I bought PPCoin and Litecoin when they were "flatlined" and nothing was happening, and afterwards they both exploded!

I also don't agree with the people who say that due to the nature of Counterparty being "tied" to Bitcoin that XCP doesn't have potential of high value increase. The logic doesn't follow IMO esp. because proof-of-burn.
But I'll be gladly schooled and proven wrong by more knowledgeable people on this forum if there are logical arguments to convince me.
As it is now I believe XCP will gain value greatly as it is the technology to bring smart contracts to fruition.

I generally agree with you. I bought a long time ago and I just hold. I don't trade.

Hopefully the naysayers trying to convince us that the party is over will quiet down a little now.

Where is that conversation taking place?

Hey all,

new version of counterparty-lib v9.51.4 has just been released Smiley!

This is an incremental upgrade with bug fixes and major performance enhancements. It also adds a feature for 'transaction chaining'.

https://github.com/CounterpartyXCP/counterparty-lib/releases

This update should address the availability issues we and others running counterparty-based services were occasionally seeing with counterparty-server when Bitcoin "stress tests" were ongoing.

We have an additional in testing right now that will make network reorgs not require a full reparse, instead being "rolled back" almost instantly. (Currently, counterparty-server currently needs to reparse the blockchain data on a reorg, which can cause availability problems as well.)

The tl;dr of this is that with these two updates, services built on counterparty-server should experience a resolution of any previous availability and stability issues. This will help the entire Counterparty ecosystem to be more robust as a whole.

It's really encouraging to see development progressing like this. I think this (and the performance enhancements) will definitely draw more developers to consider Counterparty for production. Hopefully the naysayers trying to convince us that the party is over will quiet down a little now.

Great work, guys! Meanwhile, I'm sitting here racking my brain about what the next update might be...

I've some holding from launch, bought and used some more.
It is worth buying if you have a use for it always.  If you are speculating....  good luck is all I can say, because you are relying on the industriousness and enterprise of other people that you don't know.

Bought at launch, because of awesome fair release process and because of goals in line with those of the ancient cypherpunk manifesto.
Essentially, things that can be done with cryptography to replace any functions of corruptible government-by-force are what may ultimately save people from themselves.
This sort of activity reduces the cost of government, so it doesn't matter your political affiliation, left, right, or purple, it is a good thing for all.

It is worth supporting this effort.

Even more so if you are doing DOA or DEX.

Where to find some info about the XCP ecosystem?

I think the XCP project may be too quiet in the crypto community.

Regular updates about the Counterparty ecosystem can be found here by anyone who's interested: http://counterparty.io/news/

Thanks . Smiley
