There is pretty cool tech behind this coin. And I must admit, I like the way it is distributed - if you think of it in terms of traditional pow:
- 'miners' are in fact people getting it off the faucet
- proof of work == 'miners' need to go to web faucet and 'waste' their resources (TIME) to mine (GET) new coins
- reward in coins 'miners' get is decreasing, and time needed to get those coins is increasing simulating increase in numbers of miners interested and thus in resources growth (aka 'miners' numbers and their resource 'wasting' growth in pow mining)
Key resource to consume to get the coins == TIME
This is similar to any pow yet much less wastefull, centralized and pretty honest and democratic, because:
1) no matter how much money you have
2) no matter how many expensive hardware or bots you are running
There is only one resource that can get you more coins and that is time - well unless someone hacks the site or games the system of course
And as we all know, time is one of the only few resources you can't BUY/STEAL/MANUFACTURE/CHEAT and also the one, we always have not enough of all the 'time' - so in that sense, Rai distribution is pretty well thought through. My respect to devs!
PS: And I guess because time is the main resource, I can see price will rocket from those few satosthis, because people ('miners') will soon demand higher reward (e.g. in BTC) for their time wasted by mining
