Thought my D3 was running even cooler than normal with the super firmware, turns out that's cos it's doing nothing (but the dev pool I guess) as there's a Nicehash outage going on, was going to switch to Zpool but it looks more complex.

Is the just supposed to be BTC if I want paying in BTC?

My visible hashrate on D3 screen is much better with fewer hw errors using this firmware. However, my shares/poolside hashrate is better with stock firmware. I've  ran 48 hour tests on the same pool using the same workers.

The only variable is the firmware, I wonder why this is so, because it seems very promising but for us not worth a 20% drop in shares.

This was tested using Blizz firmware previous version I have not had time to test this very latest. Anyone have insight on what could cause this?

I have experienced a reduction with some pools (mainly Yiimp clones) 5%.  Switching seems to adversely lower their PPS calculations, but not 20%

No idea on the power usage, but I have kept this F\W as my D3's are running a lot cooler, no H\W errors ans no failed chains!!

Despite latest bitmain f\w, I was experiencing failed chains (all) 0 hash and fans on full!!  I was running 487freq (batch 1)

Current settings;
Freq: 450, ASIC: Lowest, Fans: Auto

Stats:
M/H: 16.8ghz
H\W: Zero despite running for days
Temp (PCB): 59
Temp (Chip): 70
Fan: 3,690 (auto)

I can get the hash higher without H\W errors, but like how cool and stable the unit is running.  28 degrees ambient temps!!!

Perhaps as more users run the F\W, fees could reduce, but 1.5% seems reasonable for an excellent enhancement.

If you don't want the DEV fees, you can download the antminer toolkit from bitmain, to set the lower CHIP voltages, ect , but greater risk of getting it wrong and miss the key features, auto reboot on low hash, updated cgminer, better fan control, ability to set each board individually.  Toolset can be a bit hard to get working with the D3's.

To compare you must use 2 Miners with the same settings on same pool, only 1 Coin.
1 miner and run one day this setting and otherday other settings it´s not easy to compare.
when use multi Coin Pools like Zpool, Granat or Miningpoolhub, you never know, when or how often change to other coins. you can use nicehash and when looking in stats you see hashrate 20GH, look 10 min later and you have maybe only 14GH this you can see in every pool.

Belief in the immutable.

Just buy pulse generator for 0.5$ (check aliexpress for "NE555 adjustable frequency Pulse generator module") and forget about devfee.
I built some pulse generators for other miners, so I'm fully aware of that route. Smiley

This firmware gives me the ability to set frequency and voltage for each board independently, reaching >20MH/s average with almost no HW errors (though, I have to say D3 is very strange in regards to HW errors). In my opinion, it definitely worth the 1.5% dev fee. I'm not going back to stock!

Yes, it is possible with this custom firmware.
I'm running my D3 with fans disconnected completely - no issues at all!

If you think a silly petition is going to sway a multimillion dollar company in China, you're an idiot.

Anyways, is there any chance the future will bring automatic coin switching based on whattomine.com profitability like nvOC has?

You know bitmain is a multibillion dollar company right?

Note: I do use other fans to cool the miner down, of course. They just have no electrical connection to D3.

Brand new accounts keep pushing that Inginer and change.org petition. I'm convinced they're connected. Smart scam.

It it possible, with the factory firmware or with this firmware to start te mining with the fans disconnected or running very slow because of miner submerged in oil?

Thx

you can probably rig a hardware fix for this, like some sort of resistor wired to the fan connector - all shrink wrapped up nicely of course so it thinks the fans are running. old bitmain's would keep plugging away even if it couldn't read the fan speed (I had replaced a back fan on an s1 to s3 upgrade with one that had no sensor wire and it just kind of ignored the fact that the fan wasn't sending anything back.. but that also MAY have worked because the front fan was still connected) in any case might be worth a try. Won't help much in the way of electric because it would send the same juice to the resistor as it would have to the fan, but should be able to sink the sucker. - disclaimer I've never tried this and have no idea if it would work or what would actually be best to use to trick it into thinking the fans were running.

factory will fail due to lower than expected fan speed.

Hmmm.

So I tried to upgrade another D3, this one hardware build 1.0.0.7 and it flashed without a problem.
It is probably unit related that the other one refuses to upgrade.

Strange...

EDIT:

Even stranger but hopefully it may be of help to anyone having the same situation:
I swapped connections of both D3's so the now upgraded unit is connected to my wattmeter.
The refusing to upgrade D3 in the new spot now upgraded no problem.

Very happy with the upgrade though, because the non upgraded unit was using 778 Watt producing 12.2 GH/s at 350 MHz, the upgraded unit is producing 14.8 GH/s at 400 MHz at 740 W using the lowest voltage setting on the chains.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed already on this long thread...
After setting the miner to 400MHz / 25% fan speed and selecting the blissz firmware in the System -> Upgrade -> Flash Firmware section, the screen keeps spinning in this screen, the miner reboots and nothing is changed.
The unit is hardware version 1.0.0.6 submodel 19.3 GH

The firmware keeps displaying the standard Bitmain firmware.

Am I missing something?

Try to download the file again and make sure not to unpack it, just download it and flash the downloaded file.

That's exactly what I did.... no unpacking, just selecting the downloaded file and flash it... the miner reboots after around 30 seconds or so and just starts the standard firmware again while the screen stays circling in the please wait a minute phase.

Try to press ctrl + f5 before you flash and after the flash in the browser. Maybe something strange is in your browser cache...

Wow this thing is stubbornly refusing to upgrade.
Tried downloading the file couple times, different browsers, CTRL F5 all to no avail.

Should I factory reset the D3 or try putting the firmware on a micro SD card? This should be a simple thing apparently...
