Looking for 2 S1 coupons from a trustworthy member please.  I'm in NJ if that matters, don't know how the coupon transaction would work...

Just used my coupons for another order.

Anyone in Texas have coupons that they are not planning on using to order S1's?

Where in TX are you? I might have 4 extra coupons.

Just an idea for BITMAIN:  Grin

Antminer S3 (or S1.1 - whichever floats your boat)
4 boards from antminer S1 units, with undervolted resistors and shorter heatsinks, arranged as such:         |==||==|
each board is identical to antminer S1, but undervolted slightly to produce ~70GH per board at ~90W.
This gives 280GH/360W and could probably be deigned to still fit the 120mmx120mm bracket  (or a 140mm fan and bracket?)
use a slightly better control board capable of handling 4 blades instead of just two.

all the benefits of using a working design, a working method of shipment, 50% hashing improvement for the same wattage, and would play well with everyone who is using thier own power supplies

Great idea, buddy...and @ $500-600 should be selling like popcorn... Wink

All of the miners from my last batch of 5 were in great new looking condition. Now that I've taken my GPU's offline I have some extra PSU's kicking around, thanks for the coupons Bitmain just ordered 9 more! Now lets work on the price for the S2, I would like to get a couple of these running next since power is now starting to become an issue but cant justify the current premium.

So the four free PSUs I was going to use to justify four more S1s turned out to be too good to be true.  Roll Eyes  3KW output on 220V, but only 12A @ 12V, 66A @ 42V.  So all I need is a beefy 42V to 12V DC-DC converter and I'm back in business.  Anyone know of such a beast? Smiley

Is 30A output enough for an S1?  I can get a 48V to 12V converter, but by the time I spend the money it's no better than getting a regular PSU.

Unfortunately that doesn't do me any good.  The problem I have is that these power supplies output 42V.  Almost 3KW worth, but ultimately useless.  So I can get 12KW for free, but it's worth exactly nothing. Sad

On the plus side I was rooting around the server room and I think there might be a couple of server PSUs that I can nab instead.

0.55 btc aint that yesterdays price? Whats todays price? Daily price change init

you are correct but it is not quite 24 hours.

Since the drop to .55btc.  Come back in about 2 or 3 hours.

Since those will be shipped only on May 4 I doubt they will drop the price until the new batch.

Also does anyone have a solution for underclock beside the graphite pen trick? 140Gh for 180W is quite decent compared to S2.

thats the only real way without soldering new resistors. you can underclock it at stock voltage, but it will either get lots of errors below a certain speed (lets say below 160GH?) OR it will just use way too much wattage unless you bring down the operating voltage via the pencil mod (ie: you might get 140GH/220W if you dont undervolt)

bitmain could just sell us some lessor s-1's with the lower volted resistors.

it would  sell  people would want them.

Why do people still make or buy USB ASICS? I just cant see any value at all in this?
1) novelty: its less than $10/usb, or a reasonable ~$4/GH.  if someone wants to learn about bitcoin mining this is a nifty cheap way to do it. (of course, thats if buying from a reseller since the 500 MOQ is a bit much)
2) test-bench: I currently have my antminer S2 running at a frequency of 215.625, which I figured out myself correlates to '6206'.  However, rather than test a potentially wrong asic-freq on the S2, I implement it on the U1 and let it run for 10min to see that the hashrates and temps are where I expect them, THEN i make the changes to the S2

I am attempting to create a very complete listing for

freq ----hex

here is the thread.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/an-attempt-to-create-a-more-complete-freq-value-chart-for-the-ant-miner-chip-589429

If you would care to add to it with tested number please do.

If you want a bit of btc for testing lots and making a really big list   with as many as you can from freq 175 to 425 please send me a pm.

I can't offer crazy money but I have not done the math to get the freq=== hex numbers in so long I would have to spend a day or two or three to figure it out.

I can test your freq to hex on my s-1's and my u-2. but to have a full chart would help the entire community.

This is dead on.  A number of hobbyists want to "play with" the mining process before they decide to invest more money, which only makes sense in my mind.

Using the U2 for bench-testing is brilliant.  I'm going to order a couple today for just that purpose!

The next batch of S1s at .55 BTC are not shipping until May 4th, so I doubt the price will change between now and then. Otherwise early buyers would pay more even though everything will ship on the same day.
