the kill-a-watt I have is showing at 1115 Watts at the wall.  Since just moving the box it has been shutting off quickly.  The only other thing that I have done is update the firmware a while back and have it set at 196M and 725 Volts.  I have a 18 gauge computer cable that showed some wear on one of the terminals.  I ordered a 14 gauge cable to replace it.  There's some dust inside, but other than that I'm not sure what is going on.  Anyone have this problem.  I'm close to retiring it anyway, but would still like to know if it works fine (and safe) until I shut it off completely.

What voltage and frequency were you running before? If you're getting 1115W at the wall then you're very close to maxing the PSU. (as are stock S2s though).

I have 9 S2 blades if anyone is interested.

Hey,

Are they still for sale?

PM him, that's a very old post.

Was hoping others can see if they have some spare too

I have ten blades--they only make sense cost wise to ship in the US.  PM me and we can work out a price.

Build-in PSU can't handle OC...  Not Enough Juice

Who said that I'm on stock PSU? It has been replaced with Corsair AX1200i long ago... And S2 was running at 1.1 Th (at Slush's side) on Kano's firmware.

So my current PSU should be enough for overclocking, please share the appropriate methoda how to do it with newest official firmware.  Roll Eyes

Hey, I just got a S2 yesterday, it had a lot of HW errors so I updated the firmware and cgminer to 4.6.1 it fixed the HW problem but now it only hashes at half capacity!!

Has anyone experienced this or know a solution.. I really need help - I have little experience with this.
Oh, and I work from a Mac or Raspberry Pi if that helps.

FIXED!!: Hey, so using the firmware, it's system>upgrade>perform reset and the whole thing started back good as new.. maybe make a backup before you do this if your nervous.

Alright, now I am getting a consistent 1015.7 gh/s.. I've included the system backup, I've made.. It should get you to antminer firmware dated October 28 2014 and cgminer 4.6.1 - the highest you can set the asic-freq is 200, but it works like a dream. To use it go to: system>upgrade>restore backup .. Thanks!!!

Thank you for your reconsideration of the matter.

Unfortunately you seem to have overlooked the three (3) blades that were also part of the same issue. Valued by BITMAIN  China at 100USD each.

Also, if we had closed the matter in June as agreed, then the June BTC value would indeed be acceptable.

Instead you opted to cause us all much frustration & financial burden up until now, where the BTC value is less than half of what it was when you could/should have ended the matter.

As such i implore you to re-calculate the full refund value of 260 + 230 + 100 + 100 + 100 = 790 USD in todays BTC price.

This will be wholly acceptable & i will agree that the matter is indeed closed. I will also post my appreciation on each thread to remove the aforementioned tarnish.

I am regretful it has taken so long and so many posts to finally come close to a reconciliation, but i welcome the opportunity.

Sincerely,

Edgar

Thanx! I'll try it after weekend.  Cheesy

Well, I have just upgraded my S2 with this new FW (paycoin fever...). -100 Gh to hashing speed even with 200 on "advanced" tab... Will try to OC later.

p.s. found now that OCing of S2 with this new FW is not so obvious task... Please someone share how to do that...  Huh

If you have a power limit you might want to try what I have done; you can't use the newest firmware as it changes all the directories.  Instead start with 1l1l11ll1ls img:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16075357/bitmain.img.zip

then:

Download Putty if you don't already have it:  http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html

Default for S2 is:
SSH LOGIN is root
SSH PASSWORD is admin

Step 1 Open Putty and SSH into your Miner by entering its ip and clicking open

Step 2 Click "YES" on the "Security Alert" that pops up

Step 3 Login with

User: root
Password: admin

Step 4 Type "cd /config" without the quotes

Step 5 Type "vi asic-freq.config" without the quotes

Step 6 Hit the i key to edit the file

Step 7 Scroll the the bottom (with the arrow keys)
You should see many different configurations with #before them.  Placing # before a line makes it a comment and not a configuration.  Find the configuration without the #'s.
change it to the following

option 'freq_value'    '0e06'
option 'chip_freq'     '90.62'
option 'timeout'       '50'

Step 8 Hit "esc"

then

while holding the shift key type "zz"

Step 9 (IMPORTANT) type "cp asic-freq.config /etc/asic-freq.config"
IF YOU SKIP THIS STEP ALL SETTINGS WILL BE LOST WHEN YOU POWER CYCLE THE MINER

Step 10
Login to the web interface of your miner and go to the miner config tab;

click "save and apply" this will restart cgminer with the new settings

If you have a Kill-a-watt you can confirm power use.
http://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415641355&sr=8-1&keywords=kill+a+watt

There are many different settings you can use but I have tested this configuration and it is stable.
I would mine normally as long as possible before underclocking as it only offers approx 0.18 watt/GH efficiency gain for approx 500 GH loss.

Is there a forum to discuss selling of hardware?  I hope I'm not breaking rules here, but I have 2x S2's I'd like to sell.  They work great, but I have no electricity available to run them, as I've been upgrading to S4's.  I'd rather not ship them.  I'm willing to drive a certain distance from St. Louis to meet someone halfway.  The distance is negotiable.

my bestshare value rarely moves increases compared to my s1's and s3's.

It does have the most recent firmware too.

any ideas why it doesn't move and should I be concerned?

Your best share value will only increase when you find a share that was bigger than the last best share.

No.

Peace  Smiley

Its just odd that my s1's change often as does my s3's.
