The coupons are a way to get rid of stock. With the S5 they have probably scaled production to the current climate. So it is unlikely that they will issue S5 coupons (no point in allowing s3/s4/c1 coupons. It's just numbers in a machine so it will be easier to create dedicated ones) anytime soon, if ever (the S5 looks like a short pit stop on the way to 14/16nm).

I doubt that just by the sheer numbers of them I received (coupons).  Plus if they really wanted to move them, they would continue to lower the price.  AFAIK, the price hasn't changed since the coupons came out.  That's why I quit buying the S4. Even though they were loud, they were a set and forget miner.

Make Bitcoin glow with ENIAC

Just over a year ago, Bitmain released its ground-breaking Antminer S1 to the market. Miners no longer had to sacrifice space, noise levels and hashing power in order to mine. The S1 became the staple of the home miner, before being upgraded to the Antminer S3 7 months later.

Today, Bitmain is proud to announce its 3rd generation chip in conjunction with its 9th product: the Antminer S5. It is 450 USD 418 USD per unit (excluding shipping) and will ship starting on December 27th.

Coupons for S4's can they be converted to S5's?

Sorry if this was asked and answered already.

not yet, but who knows, maybe they will allow at least S3/C1 coupons in the last minute.

Yes maybe donate all your coupons and get a few S5 coupons? Or some such trade up?

Actually want to upgrade the S2s we got to S5s keep the same or a little more hash at half the power sorta plan.

Watch out for the "Neg-Rep-Dogie-Police".....

Sadly at some point there are people in this world that are not worth spending time and energy on. As you can see, many here have meet these people and are done wasting our lives with them. The only solution is to make others aware of this problem. We are done with condescending and terse replies from people like Dogie and others.

Hi pak13,

Please check your PM & get back to me if possible.

Please keep in mind people, this is Bitmain's product discussion thread. While excessive harassing of members isn't acceptable under any circumstance, it is especially not acceptable in someone else's thread. I'm sure Dogie doesn't mind talking to reasonable people about whatever issues people are having with him, but please do not do it here. Don't clutter the thread making information harder to access for those that want it.

SaltySpitoon,

Firstly, thank you for your input.

However, if I am to be accused of something I have not done on a Bitmain thread, by someone who is paid by Bitmain - I believe I am, at the very least, entitled to an apology. Is that so unreasonable? I think not. I'm sure that you have read the circumstances of my request in this thread - if it were to happen to yourself, would you not want an apology? As genuine & appreciated as BitmainWarranty's & Yoshi's apology was, it's not the same, and until dogie realises the errors of his ways, the situation will continue & indeed probably get worse - weather it is with me or any of the other forum members he's seen fit to abuse or insult on Bitmain threads. It has gone too far already - & needs to be nipped at the bud.

Sorry, but my request still stands.

Exactly!

When the defenders of the dastardly run their mouths, they are indeed condoning his abhorrent behaviour.

Notice how they are happy to change & avoid the subject when its proven beyond a doubt that he/they are in the wrong.

You are using a broad net with your accusation. Perhaps you should focus your energy towards getting your grievances remedied.

Righto, thanks. I doubt anyone goes out of their way to trust my opinions, but I really like Bitmain gear (for disclosure, I own about 15 undervolted S1, run an S2 Kit and an S3) and I can't recommend the S5 until I trust a few things have been taken care of. It'd be really nice to have gotten ahold of one of those evaluation units, but then a thousand other people could say the same thing.

the big fear is will behave like Asic Miner"s tube or prisma.

I owned both of them and both   had current/heat runaway problems. very hard to keep stable.

Once I get the test module I can

A) undervolt it with 1 psu.

B) over volt it with another psu.

C) volt it perfectly with a high quality psu.

D) sent 11 volts to one board and 13 volts to the other board. using 2 different psu's

E)Set a low freq

F) set a high freq

G) add the higher quality silverstone fan for cooling

The s-1 and s-3's I have had were all good or very good. 1 dead ethernet and all else good out of 30-35 units.

I have read problems on the s-2 the s-4 the c-1 but I never had one of them to test

I own quite a bit of Bitmain gear, and I can say with confidence they will not make gear as bad as Asic Miner makes..

S4's catching fire. My Asic Miners (not the prisma line) are more reliable and less smokey. Point being, each brand has it's issues and they all go through various stages. The exception seems to be spondoolies as they are clearly frontrunners.

I think this one may be one to use. It will adjust down to 9.5v at 36A. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Power-Supply-Adj-Volts-9-5-Up-To-15-VDC-36A-12-03-/371222321916? Have not had to use these PSU's since I got rid of the USB miners. But the undervolting of the S5 is why I bought one to try and may replace all my S3's with it.

yes and I linked a buy it now above 69 dollars

used with this fan http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A460TK6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I believe the perfect combo may be done say 360 watts and 850gh with zero noise

http://megawatt.us/       <     they have others   website link .

I am buying the one on ebay  I am thinking it is a good match for the s-5.

I get ebucks money for my ebay account on jan 3rd I can it for 69 -40 ebucks =  29 usd

here is another psu with volt adjustment   http://www.meanwell.com/search/SD-1000/SD-1000-spec.pdf

11 to 15 volts    and if set at 11 would sag to 10.0-10.5 on the load of the s-5

Note that the meanwell one is DC-DC which I don't think you want.

yeah you are correct.  this one is better.  I have the ham one on hand .  I do not have a bigger meanwell and found the wrong one .  the one below looks correct

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Professional-Mean-Well-SE-600-12-PSU-AC-DC-Switching-Power-supply-12V-50A-600W-/151411792018?pt=US_Radio_Comm_Device_Power_Supplies&hash=item2340d89892

http://www.meanwell.com/search/SE-600/SE-600-spec.pdf     volts from 10 to 13.5      set at 10 should allow for  volts to sag to 9 and change

and after a really closer google look around  I will be buying the psu below:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/400-Watt-9-15-DC-Volts-Adjustable-36-Amp-Power-Supply-Real-USA-MegaWatt-/180777051248?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a1726e470

the seller claims it can do 360 watts 24/7   if true and you are willing to downclock the s-5 a bit   this may be an amazing way to mine.

how about 360 watts for 850gh?

a near silent miner with this fan

Thank you Sidehack and Philipma1957 as I respect both of your opinions. I did order one S5 from batch 2 to try and will be interested in your testing. I also would like to know what PSU you use to undervolt the miner.

+1

These psu's are not for pc's  but if I drop volts to 10 and wire correctly they may allow for underclock.   the s-5 would be a true beast if it takes 10 volts drops to 900gh, but

the watts drop to 400.  thus making it a .44 watt per gh miner that is truly quiet. I think sidehack could tell you if a hp2000 watt server psu can adjust lower in volts

this one should work > http://www.ebay.com/itm/Professional-Mean-Well-SE-600-12-PSU-AC-DC-Switching-Power-supply-12V-50A-600W-/151411792018?pt=US_Radio_Comm_Device_Power_Supplies&hash=item2340d89892
