I just made another set of orders for the B8s.  I really liked the B7s the best, but this is the only feasible option.

along these lines  100% fan speed  goes to about 4400rpm  don't use 100% ever.  Three reasons are:

1) power sucker uses the most power.
2) cooling improvements level off above 4200 rpm
3) much more likely to burn the controller out due to higher power use at 100%.

Also  The manual setting of 50% or greater will keep the miner safe from internet drop outs in most cases.

I just adjusted all of my S7's to 50% manual fan per your recommendation.  Two of my batch 8's also had to have their frequency reduced to get their temperature to 65 C or lower.  One of them I had to reduce the frequency to 650 MHz.  The other to 687 MHz.  I'm all about taking care of these rigs to hopefully increase longevity of the blades and the controller. 

EDIT:  The odd thing is the ambient is approximately 11 C.  Yet, two of them had to have their frequency lowered to reduce temperature.

I personally believe batch 7 was the best Batch of all the S7's.  At least from the one's I have.  I have Batch 1, Batch 5, Batch 7 and Batch 8.  My Batch 7 at factory 625 MHz is hashing at 5,055.92 GH/s with 0.0025% HWE's and fan at manual 50% with 3,600/3,350 RPM's on the fans with 54, 49, 48 temps on the blades.


I have to agree with you on the B7 are the best batch.  Mine are running solid with the same type of numbers.

Be Careful with fans.  This fan that you are referencing is 133 CFM.  The fan on the S7 is 185 CFM.  It will be quieter, but provide less cooling.  You can also do this with the existing S7 fan by reducing the fan speed in the control panel "Miner Configuration - General Settings - Customize the fan speed percentage" by checking the box and entering the % into the box:

65% = 4120
60% = 3980
55%   = 3840
50% = 3720
45% = 3480
40% = 3120
35% = 2760
30% = 2520
25% = 2500
20% = 2000

I think the stock fan is actually 250CFM. The Kaze wouldn't be good enough unless ambient is fairly low.

I have 4 of the Ultra Kaze fans.  They're very quiet and strong but I don't think they're anywhere as powerful as the S7 fans which can do up to 4500 RPM vs 3000RPM.  I'm using the Ultra Kaze to cool my IBM 2K PSU.  I think you can use it for the intake fan as you don't need 4500 RPM for that but I wouldn't recommend replacing both fans unless your operating environment will always be very cool temperature.   You can get a good idea by  manually setting the fan speed where the S7 drop to 2500-3000RPM or below (40% or less) and see how hot it runs.  If the S7 still runs within acceptable temperature range then the solution may work for you.  Just remember right now is winter so it's easier but once summer comes, things will change.

Woke up and found 1 S7 having network issues but the S7 is not beeping nor showing Red.  It wasnt a pool issue as it didn't failoever either.  Just not pingable and not hashing to the pool.  Had to reboot it to get it working again.  All lights were showing green just not blinking green on the controller.   Anyone seen similar issues?
