Interesting sequence of edits.  Smiley Yes although my gut feeling is that the firmware for all the 162 Chip systems are the same except for the default frequency I am sure you are doing the right thing in not upgrading.

Thanks for your opinion.  I believe I will leave it alone.  I tend to believe the Sept. Firmware version is probably the best while maintaining a manual setting on the fan speed.

When you hit the reset button does it revert to the 9/15 firmware?
[/quote]

I have yet to hit the reset button to find out.  I know my S5's and S3's retained the firmware version I upgraded them to after a hard reset.  I would expect the same with the S7.

there are only two machines: B1-5+B7 and B6, 8
the rest is just BMT slicing and dicing according to marketing/ machine performance.
Same soft (9/15) on B7 proves it.

I agree about there being only two machines with varying frequencies as the default.

I would say, keep 9/15+ manual at 75-80%-seems to be the most reliable combo.
One of my B1 had an outage of 3hr (after intermittent internet) at hosting while on 75% manual; did not re-engage by itself (required a reboot) but did not burn itself either.

Thanks for the info.  I feel more at ease about my rigs surviving an internet outage.  I suppose I should raise those I have at 60% to at least 75%.  My S7's have varied in terms of core temperature.  Those I have presently at 60% were running too cool at 70 and 80 percent.  Which resulted in a few GH/s slower hash rate.  When I keep them between 50 and 60 Celsius, they seem to hash better with lower HW errors.

My kernel log is always blank Does this happen to anybody else ?

 Cry Cry Cry

My batch 7 @ 625 MHz & 5.0 TH/s was delivered about 30 minutes ago.  I've had it running about 15 minutes now.  It had high HWE's when I first turned it on.  Once I configured the pools the HWE's went down to 0.0027% and remains there now after 26 minutes of mining.

My kernel log is blank like yours.  I hope this fixes itself somehow fairly soon.  I do have Tue Sep 15 16:50:19 CST 2015 Firmware.  I'm about to update firmware.  I'll edit soon to let you know what happened after firmware update to Oct. version.

EDIT #1:  Well, I'm a bit hesitant about upgrading firmware to October version because they do not have one for 625 MHz rigs posted for update.  I'm concerned it would make the default frequency 600 MHz instead of leaving it at 625 MHz.

Any opinions, anyone, about upgrading firmware for Batch 7 at 625 MHz default frequency?

EDIT #2:  I had a look at the kernel log on my other S7's that have the Oct. Firmware.  Some of them have data in the kernel log and some do not.  Interesting...
I'm not going to update my Batch 7 to the latest firmware until they have a version posted for rigs with 625 MHz available.  I do have my fans set on manual @ 80%.  It's 75 degrees outside at the moment.  So, the AC is on in the house right now.

EDIT #3:  I did a soft reboot on one of my earlier S7's with a blank kernel log.  They are back to working and showing data in the kernel log.

EDIT #4:  I did a soft reboot on the new Batch 7 and the kernel log is fine.  So, it sounds like you just need to do a soft reboot.

EDIT #5:  Don't be alarmed if your hash rate is around 1300 to 1700 GH/s after a soft reboot.  This means only one board is hashing.  Just soft reboot again and your hash rate should go back to normal and the kernel log still displays data.  I had to soft reboot my Batch 5 twice because of the same issue with 1300 to 1700 GH/s after the first soft reboot.

Batch 8 was at 1792 and now its reduced to 1650 USD ( 4.405 BTC ) Still is a a fair amount to pay. Think am a going to play the waiting game some more or till someone starts selling off and S8 comes along or they get the efficiency up more on the s7

pcfli reported that S7 miner that will come in late january will cost ~$1150 to him and, hence, to everybody else as Bitmain charges similar $$ to hosting sites vs regular folks. Of course, it is almost exactly the same or worse than having a $1500-1550 ($1650-coupon) miner right now.

My first boots up with a lot of HW ERRORS then they drop down to 0.0042% in an hour or two I don't know why ?

if you don't want to wait that long, wait 10 min after the initial hard boot, then go to "advanced settings", don't change anything, just click on save and apply button-you will be soft-restarted with lower errors or errors will get lower faster (they restart at a lower rate).

Today I got two Antminer S7 from Batch 6

Antminer S7  Batch 6  software is from Fri Nov 13 17:11:38 CST 2015

But they are behaving strangely.
After a few minutes I got  XXXXXXXXXXXX  which itself went off after some refresh .
This happened after each REBOOT from botch miners.

So is it just the ASIC Status that is messed up as the Hash rate looks about right?

Rich

It is asic status  which disappears after a minute.
This happens even if change only  the frequency .

Almost sounds like a firmware bug? Has this release of firmware been seen before or is it new?

'The right to privacy matters'

Coupons were offered to customers who bought S7 Batch 8 and the order has been paid till Nov. 30, 19:00 of Beijing time.
Please kindly check your account if you've already had Batch 8 order  Wink

So I purchased  Batch 1  and one machine consistently runs under spec where is my coupon?

so 5 s-7's purchased

I have the one batch one dog.
My batch two came a few days late.

total of more then 32.3 btc spent on 5 s-7's

not to mention the 6300gh on hashnest.
and the 9.9 btc in pacmic v3  So over 48btc spent since late august.

And no coupons no compensation of any kind for 2 problem pieces.
This is why many people are angry with bitmaintech and post wicked nasty stuff here.
