I personally believe more "true" S7's we become available soon.  They have no problem at all selling them.  The S7 is a prime piece of hardware!  They might also create another one with lower hash rate.  However, I believe the S7 is here to stay for a while.  It may very well go into 20 batches at a minimum.

Agreed, and even the BW offering, WERE it available, is not super compelling given the likely timeframe for delivery.  The pre-order is $80k and that's a little rich when dealing with an unknown company.  I had high hopes for the SP50 when announced, but no further information to us 'home' miners.

With all due respect to those in the thread who are either still waiting on miners, or having problems, these are excellent machines, and I wish we had purchased enough to replace all units in our farms on day one instead of waiting on delayed shipments and now uncertain if more true S7's will become available for sale.

Sounds like they may be releasing it to compete with the Avalon6 that is suppose to come in at 3.5 Th and $310/Th.  Specs can be found here:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon6

3.65@1100w at the wall?

I'll take the S7's 4.86@1185w measured at my wall

At 310$/TH yeah, thats not great. Need some sort of incentive to go for them instead of sticking with Bitmain at the moment. The format seem more interesting than the S7 but Its definitively not worth the step up from S5 to Avalon6 at that price.

I agree totally!  At 0.314 watts per GH/s if running at 3500 GH/s.  Not interested...

If we do the math at 1100 watts divided by 3500 GH/s [It did say +/- 10%], that comes to 0.314 watts per GH/s verses the 0.25 watts per GH/s of the S7.

not directly related to mining, but look at that btc pop!
maybe those who bought btc will come out ahead in the end while we wait until the last moment for deliveries, which is nominally OK, but off the expectations.

Also, I wonder why they are deleting posts? I had a post that I have on another tab that was simply deleted. Seems odd... BTW, cryptoGlance for managing miners rocks!

I installed them on my farm, one was in a weird state afterwards, but recovered after a soft restart of the controller.

edit:

I have noticed a more stable variance after updating to the 600M firmware on their site. I had two s7's that were all over the place, so that makes me happy. Smiley

WELL, the new firmware is supporting a possible new product, maybe in the next week.  What about current B2/B3 products?  Will they still be sold for the higher hash rates?

What makes you think it supports a new product?  Why are there multiple different firmwares for different frequencies?  Is the only difference the default frequency?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/rumors-of-35th-antminer-s7-lite-1219211

The guy who does hosting mentioned it in his thread, and it is making the rounds.
I think the speculation is coming from the pcfli message and he buys enough to be in the know about Bitmain.
The story goes something like bitmain is releasing a smaller s7 to compete with another company releasing a 3.5 or 3.x miner. What I remembered reading was that the other company wasn't shipping until January or something, so I thought. You should read the news stories and full forum posts to make sure I am not repeating anything incorrectly.

I cannot say on the firmware. I am waiting to see how others are doing with it.
If I were experiencing an issue I would probably give it a shot, but mine seem to be going along well.

Have been running new 600 oct 23 firmware for 24 hours, running very well.

Buying $1000 on Coinbase cost me $9.90 USD each time...since I signed up with them and confirmed my bank accouint and credit card back in January.  That works out to a 1% fee.

Thanks. Is that the total cost or do you have a Bank Charge for transferring the money to Coinbase on top of that?

No bank charge from my bank.  The 1% that Coinbase charges is the only cost I've ever had and I've done it multiple times.  It was the reason I switched to Coinbase to start with.  They had the lowest fees I could find and you can't ask for an easier way to buy BTC instantly up to $1000 per week.

Besides Coinbase I like Circle also, no transaction fee unlike coin base. Circle is better when selling BTC, you save on transaction fee. No bank fee for ACH transactions, but their instant BTC buy limit is only $500 whereas Coinbase $1000.

yeah, i was mistaken, the only charge is 1% fee, that's all (which comes to $10 on $1000, hence my mistake).

BTW, did coinbase reduced max buying via bank account to $10K today or yesterday? It looks like now 50K is ONLY available across all payment methods (whatever this means, but I assume it means their USD wallet) with more available if you apply for higher limits again. in any case, i don't need more than 10K in buys anyway, so i doubt i will be applying.

How long does it take to buy BTC on coinbase?
Looked like a week.

I have a 1000 usd instant purchase

and a 50000 usd 3 business day wait

so I buy the 1000 instant and then buy   the slower coin.  The 1000 instant once used rebuilds from 0 to 1000 in 7 days.

I have been with coinbase for 20 months maybe 22 months

they have wicked rules...instead of giving you $1000 worth instant when you place a bigger order, they dump it all in a slow lane.
I also do things like you, but it adds to expenses since you have to place two orders instead of one.
I think that it is $5-10/for ea order if I remember correctly (plus 1%, of course); also 22-23 mo w/coinbase.

Can someone spell out the total cost of say buying $1000 of BTC on Coinbase?

From the UK I can buy small amounts on credit card with a 3% charge, but I think no additional charge by Coinbase?

I can then I think do a Bank Transfer for larger amounts but have not yet verified as there is a $30 bank charge per transfer, which is quite high for small amounts. However is there then an additional Coinbase fee?

Many Thanks

Rich
