even if they come out with 16nm chip miners the price will be way to expensive for your average home miner to afford and the rich will buy them all up because they can and will double or increase there greedy hashrate and send the global hashrate through the roof then DIFF will go through the roof and BTC will drop to $0.00 per coin CRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even if your average home miner drops out it will not bring down the global hashrate to much because there are to many rich and greedy in the game. open your eyes its happening already. the rich and greedy destroy every good thing they get there stinking hands on. perfect example Donald Trump if you live in the usa.

Decentralized market what a joke.

Hint. Even when working with mature process nodes (which 14/16nm is NOT) it usually takes months to go from "tapeout" to "full production" on a chip.

I still don't expect to see repeated 5% diff increases even with the new stuff comming out, but I'm not using 2% as my "diff increase for ROI calculation" estimate for the next few months.
I DO suspect we're going to see a major DROP in diff shortly after the halfing, though I also suspect it'll take a few months for the "non-profitable" machine operators to realise that they're loosing money and to drop those machines out of the hashrate even after such a sudden drop.

*goes back to shopping for adjustable EFFICIENT power supplies to give my S5s a fighting chance at RoI*

I hope you are wrong...

I hope he is wrong aswell.  I don't see BTC doing a crash right now.  But two big dificulty changes in a row it's looking. That is not good.

If it does not settle down it's hard to say what will happen.

Through all the BS talk bottom line the BTC market is going to crash or the home miner is going to be left out in the cold. Like I said BTC is only for the rich and greedy end of story you will see.

It's still early and I'm hoping that's just a bad estimate for the next difficulty jump.  It should be more accurate in a few days.

FUN > ROI
So Steve and Liquid: So they are basically 1 year behind schedule? I guess tape-out comes before production. And original production date was in february?  Tongue
'production' in a press blurb can refer to anything, including e.g. the design process.  tape-out does come before manufacture, which is at least a bit more restrictive of a term.

In the sea of new coins there should be some something worth of mining with the SHA256 gear.

Nope.  None of the altcoins launching now would do anything with SHA256 as a major mining component as it would mean an immediate influx of hash rate from even the lowest-end of devices, making it very easy to force chain forks.  The code to help prevent that is additional work that can much more easily be avoided by choosing different algorithms.

Does it mean we will have no other reliable coin mined on SHA256 that can easily be converted to BTC?
Its sad Sad the same algorithm network could powered by a huge amount of middle-small miners. But the coin should be oriented for them.
Big fishes who have mine sites over 5-10 PTH can make a move in powering some fork coin of BTC, and there would many followers from middle and small mining sites. There are many bright heads who know how to promote and make another coin live.

Why would you want another SHA256 alt-coin? Pump n dump?
Speculators are everywhere, so no one can actually save from them.
What I am saying that there should more reliable coins that could be mined and traded like the others so difficulty of BTC net wont raise so fast.
I am know people who code and promote many altcoins have really good intentions and plans, interesting and great ideas to serve people.

here we go more S7's online and soon BITFURY miners to there goes the hash rate through the roof along with the DIFF while the price of the coin itself dropping I can see a very big bitcoin market crash coming soon!

then all miners will be worth $0.00 dollars. anyway bitcoin is for the rich and greedy the fun is long gone. "UNLESS YOUR RICH".

S7 is another step in evolution and many will try to get rid of their custom made mining sites like this one built on bitfury blades:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/4-mines-for-sale-from-15ph-to-52-ph-1167388
For example Georgia (the country)) has its state custom made mining site, that is similar to size to mentioned above, and also is built by Bitfury.
So I wonder what are Spondoolies, KNC, occupied with? are they constantly making giant mining sites like those? Most Probably yes.
And for sure at this very moment multiple PTH farms are launched by the market leaders and the factories are full of orders for chips for next 3-4 month.

Venture capital is finding its ways into cryptocurrency world like water - cloud mining, or new chip mass production, new changers etc.
Pity they don't really occupy themselves in creating some options for care about the inviroment, the market is pushing them forward.

"BitFury has announced it has completed the tape-out for its 16NM ASIC bitcoin mining chips, which were first revealed to be in production in February."
The way I see this is: They won't start producing the chips before february. Unless the above statement actually implies starting production earlier. Either way they will probably need a couple of months to test the product before selling it to the public (read: Mining companies).

Yeah, that's referencing February of 2015 - i.e. last February.

There is NO Freedom without Privacy
With the new chip of bitfury at 0.06 w/gh and the fact that the CEO said he want to reach HEXAHASH, I dont know if I will buy a S7.  Undecided

The fact that this statement came right after Bitmain's release of the S7, makes me think they are trying to influence S7 sales by making the decision to buy one harder. (Uncertainty around future difficulty increase).
In the end, the difficulty is the number 1 factor to if you're going to get ROI or not. <- And the excitement around diff is whats keeps me mining, its fun and makes following the community a lot more fun.

If you are looking for this kind of excitement, you should buy one. If not, buy coins instead Wink

Btw, my grammar is horrible!  Cool
Pretty sure that means they first revealed to the public that they were working on the chips this past Feb. now that tapeout has completed they are close to mass production

But Antpool is only 68.13 PH/s
Thus, nothing to do with S7

It has everything to do with it.  You think that the other manufacturers are going to sit by while bitmain floods the market with more hash? Although at that price i cant imagine anyone biting.. But anyway.. You will see soon enough..Just remember bitmain arent shipping these paper weights till mid september.  3 more diff adjustments.. And then to save face they will throw a coupon at ya big enough to hope you bite on another machine lol..

Yeah, that's referencing February of 2015 - i.e. last February.  You can check out CoinTerra's old timeline for their chip in https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/ASIC .  Things should be a bit more streamlined now if one were to use older node sizes, but given that BitFury has moved to 16nm, who knows what the timeframe between tapeout and chips in hand would be.

As for selling to the public.. that remains to be seen.  They're entertaining investment opportunities, but not really general hardware sales.  I haven't seen any public statements of their 28nm chip being used in the wild, let alone sales.

Anyway, Bitmain's miner is available now and I hope chip sales follows Smiley

They no doubt are releasing it trying to get some large clients to wait.   The efficiency difference is pretty big.   So we will see if they release more or not.  I think they will remain a little quiet until as bitmain pumps out a lot fo S7's.

As far as them reachig a exahash I don't see it anytime soon.   I want to reach a  exahash... but I will never get it.   So saying he want's it is not commuting to it.

But big thing is look at difficulty ... it still is going up.  2 decent changes in a row.
