Just saw 1 S7 reporting 2 cards with 45 Chips and 1 Card with 20 Chips and Hash rate was crap.  Reboot fix the issue but that was concerning and weird.  Anyone else ever see these issues or am I just very lucky?

When you say Front......you mean the side with the Network interface?  That is the Intake fan where it have the shorter cable.  The rear is with the Longer fan cable is the Exhaust FAN.   What is the best way to test which is FAN 1?  I have my PSU connected to 3 S7, and would hate to shut them all down for a test.   Heck, let me test it now as my curious is getting to me.  Will do a power down and remove 1 FAN connector.

UPDATE - FAN 1 is the Intake FAN.  I also took this opportunity to reboot the 3 S7 and now they all report similar FAN speed at 60%.  I also used this opportunity to replace 1 FAN with the SANYO FAN.  Because the replacement FAN is different it's only natural to see the RPM reported being different.  The Intake fan appears identical to exhaust fan but it's hard to know for sure as there's no model #, just similar looks. The screeching is now gone so I'll do a stability test for a week and if it keeps temps good without issues, I may order another to replace the other S7  Fan.

Just a bit concerning that Amazon report this FAN using up to 3AMP or 36 Watts.  Although I did hear report that people previously used these FANs on the S4 without any issues.   So far it's keeping the temp at the same as before the replacement.

Anyone know what the OEM fan uses watts wise?  Bitmain site doesn't show and Ebay info is not trust worthy as those are not the OEM fans since they're showing it can only go up to 4500RPM vs 5K for the OEM version.

All my S7 fan speed is set to manual at 60%.   Is there a reason why the speed is not at a steady speed?  I have some that is showing 3700/4080 RPM and some showing 4040/4440 and 4040/4800!  The 2 screetching ones are the ones that happens to be on the higher RPMs.   Is FAN 1 the Intake FAN or EXHAUST fan?

I'm curious...  Have a close look at the front and rear of the rigs to see if they are the exact same fan.  They may actually be different.  I have seen post in the past in this forum with different fans on rigs.

They are facing different direction so it's hard to tell unless I unscrew them.  I may end up doing that tomorrow to replace the FAN with the SANYO.

High Rpms are at the exhaust

Agreed...  I have rigs like this but high RPM's at the intake.  I haven't bothered to take the time to see if the fans are different.
Some fan hubs are bigger , it is glaring.
You could put both intakes on one both exhaust on the other

I thought some had different fans on front and rear.  Some the same fans.

Then crank down the fan speed on the fast ones

It is sad as I liked the even miners with PSU was really nice.  But I would agree I think we not see a S8.   S4's were one of my favorite miners I have had with nice build quality and LCD's.  Also at end I did well on resell so I really liked them.  I  was lucky though and never had a PSU quit on mine.

I predict we see another 3 bay again on future miners, it allows them to use same cases they are already getting made.   And I think will still use the bitmain psu they are selling, adds to profit selling a psu ontop of miner.

I'm not to sure when it will happen though.  I think they will be on current gen for a while longer (I could be wrong though all speculation).

Agreed...  Current generation is here for a while.  At least until the block halving.

It makes more sense as well to keep the present 3 blade closure.  It would be nice if people had the option to simply have new blades shipped to them and swap out the blades for an upgrade.

OR

Simply buy new blades with controller and closure.

It's hard for me to imagine an S8 with same form factor as the S2 and S4 because they would need more than one PSU inside more than likely.  However, I'm not saying they won't do it.  It's hard to say what they will or will not do.

I agree and think we have seen the end of the even numbered Series. I think they have, for the moment, decided to standardise on a single form factor and for greater Hash in a single unit go for the 3 Bay S5+ style unit. A lot less development work and more common components. What form factor(s) they decide go for with BM1386 we will have to wait & see?  Smiley

The S2 and S4.

Makes sense.  S2 same chips as S1 but more of them to increase efficiency just a bit.  Same with the S4 having more of the same chips than the S3 to increase power efficiency and hash rate.

I just received  a notification email with tracking number for 1 hashboard that went out in early Dec.  I still have one other RMA for 1 controller and 3 hashboards.

HOPEFULLY, your other RMA gets worked out soon.  I think they may of had a lot of RMA's and it's taking a while to get to all of them.

EDIT:  Call them if you think you need to.  I called them.

EDIT #2:  I use ooma [Voice over IP].  You can find it at ooma.com.  It cost me 2.35 cents ($0.0235) per minute to talk to someone in China.  My monthly bill is less than $4 each month.  I prepay [or load up] my account for calling outside North America.  All calls made in North America are free [Well, $4.00 each month].  You will have to pay for the ooma base up front then it's cheap from there on out.  I bought mine used on eBay for cheaper than what you would pay on their website.  Your choice though.

Mine for a Bit
Update:

Got email from Bitmain/Sherry with tracking number for 2 x batch 5 replacement boards. +1
Got email in regards to batch 8 defective boards. +1

Should have happened a lot earlier, but at least we got some movement going in the right direction.

thanks,  Smiley

Update:

I too received an email notification of my 3 replacement blades on the way and got a UPS shipment notification of package on the way from China.

Is there any news on a more efficient Miner...S8?

Typically the even numbered models use the same chips as the previous odd numbered models so it probably wouldn't be more efficient, just more hashrate.  If they introduce another higher hashrate with the same chips it will probably be an S7+ though.  The next jump in efficiency should be an S9.

If the S7+ comes out and looks similar to an S5+, I would rather continue buying S7.  The only way I would buy S7+ is if I could buy complete controllers and not just a BB Board without the Interface board for the fans and blades.
