My order for Batch 9's will be shipping soon(ish)... I don't have any of these "newer" style S7's to reference, I just have batch 3's

From what I'm reading, the controller board is not fully populated on these later batches?  True or false?

TRUE

The "newer" hashboards now have a buck circuit? True or False?

Can someone take a closeup pic of the new fangled power circuit area with that big inductor? If you can also list the IC part numbers... that would be appreciated.

PICS-

I think your situation is being taken care of as I post if I think the case is what I think it is.  Sent you a PM, please let me know.

Can't disclose the details of the transaction here but more than likely you will receive unopened boxes if this is the same case I'm thinking of. (There may be 1 box that's been opened but it should be to validate unit in functioning state)

P.S:  we can understand you being worried and very much so but please be patient with UPS at the moment as situation is being dealt with.

Thank you!

Why do you pick and choose what inquiries you will respond too on these forums. Here we are spending thousands, some of us hundreds of thousands of dollars and you guys dont have the decency to respond fast. Do you not understand that with bitcoin mining companies fast customer service is a MUST. I get better customer service when I bought a $100 computer off ebay. Hell i get even better customer service when I buy a $20 toy at target or a $6 shirt at ross. Arent you guys ashamed of yourself. Alittle bit goes a LONG way in customer service and you guys cant even put out a little bit

I think it's good they keep most in form of email or tickets.  They are being safe on what info is released so a customer info is not shared with whole world.   Even on one they answered they make sure to keep party secret besides one who posted.

If you have a question I suggest email.  I have had pretty good luck with it myself it's been a while since I have needed it but it treated me well.   So I would suggest if you want anwser in most cases send email or ticket over posting in forum asking for official support.  Forum is going to be more 3rd party support from other users.

Does anyone have schematics of the S1 through S5 models of Antminers?

The only circuit Diagram I have ever seen is for the sS1

I do notice that since I set all my fans on manual (60% for me) that the miners are much
more stable (don't crash) than they were on auto. When pools go down the fan speed stays up.
Stable temperature seems to be very helpful.

Just saw 1 S7 reporting 2 cards with 45 Chips and 1 Card with 20 Chips and Hash rate was crap.  Reboot fix the issue but that was concerning and weird.  Anyone else ever see these issues or am I just very lucky?

I wouldn't be overly concerned with it.  I've had this occur with many units from S3, S4, S5 and now S7.  Just seems to happen from time to time for whatever reason.
This is one reason I've written scripts to check hashrate and reboot miners if it falls under a specified hashrate.  I would keep an eye on it though.  The S7-B8 boards that i've had fail, all
seem to exhibit this more than others until they no longer came back with a reboot nor a complete power cycle.  Bitmain had me test each individual hashboard that I've had fail - and interestingly enough 2 of my 3 bad boards show 48 chips at the GUI.

My batch 8 did something weird once after a power cycle where one board kept dropping out (exactly like some S5's do) where the hashrate went down by a 3rd and the temperature on one board went way down.  No dashes or x's or missing chips in the GUI though.  I did a "save and apply" to restart cgminer and it worked as expected again for about 20 minutes and then did the exact same thing again.  I did another "save and apply" and again it fixed it for about 20 minutes.  I was a bit worried by then since it had done it three times.  I power cycled it again after that and it has not done it since (a couple weeks now).  So that was weird and concerning (just as you say) but the unit seems ok now.

With some S5's though this behavior happens and then fixes itself after a few minutes.  I try to keep a close eye on my S7's but it is possible it is happening and fixing itself and I just haven't observed it again.

Yes, I really like my regular driver. I will ask him to stay for a quick opening and visual inspection, and video the rest of the process.

Yeah, I never meant to have the driver stay for cookies and milk - that'd be absurd.
Just to unbox and verify no physical damage.

Then take issue with the shipping courier.  If you don't receive the goods then file a loss claim and make them reimburse you.

The goods are supposed to be picked up and delivered to me tomorrow. My concern is sabotage of the equipment by the other miner.

If you're concerned about it you could:
Have driver stay a couple minutes and watch you un-box to check for any signs of damage/tampering.
If there is, tell the driver you refuse acceptance of the package and have them return it and start a damage claim.

If there isn't physical sign of damage and you're still paranoid about functionality of item you can film yourself, nonstop.
Film from receipt of package, unboxing, hooking up, and configuring pools and watching GUI statistics.  If it doesn't work right from get go
you contact Bitmain and say it's DOA.  They probably are tracking SN#'s (I would be).  If they do then they can verify they are same parts.

Maybe you'll find an S3 in the box instead of an S7 - LOL..  Of course then you could also refuse the shipment as it's not what you were expecting.

If your going to do anything like make driver stay during setup I highly suggest calling supervisor with your worries, and get the backing of a supervisor.   I can't imagine to many sitting there as you set it up even if it's just 10 minutes.

And also by doing this you will make your delivery guy chances are not to happy with you.  If you deal with receiving many packages I always try to stay on good side of delivery guy when you can.  You would be surprised if you are nice sometimes it pay's off.

I'm willing to bet it is a mistake on shipment they saw the large order you mention and assumed your box was one of them.  Committing mail fraud as a carrier... not exactly worth doing for a S7.  I think it was a screw up it sounds like for sure but sabotage.

Your option is either take package or mess with carrier for who knows how long and if they will side with you.  You might call a supervisor and explain your worries and see what they do.  But I doubt there is a whole lot besides taking it or letting them ship it back.

I just mean sabotage as in good chances my boxes were opened and inserted into the datacenter without looking at address label. When they have to package them back up, a dishonest person might throw their poor performers in my boxes to let me have to deal with warranty issues. Or perhaps they will even cause damage to reduce or cause problems for competition.  I don't mean they colluded with the carrier.

My order was for more than five, their order was for hundreds. Easy to not even realize the mistake when unboxing that number. The question is, will they pick random machines to send me, or will I end up with the runts of the litter?

The good news is if they deal with in the hundreds, I'm willing to bet a RMA or boards is not a issue.  Chances are Bitmain get's to them pretty quick.  So I don't think they would take the time to pull 5 duds to send to you. But I see your point.

If you see they are opened and really do suspect that you can call supervisor and try to make sure the driver stay's.  But setting up 5+ with driver sitting there chances are low.  And again this is going to make you the drivers not so favorite client... so you would be between a rock and hard place if you suspect they are duds.

Why would you think that way...there are still some good people in this world.  He has the same interests as you and would probably go out of his way to protect your package.

Because I've been in bitcoin long enough to have to deal with plenty of people that act in such ways. I do hope they are good people and there are no problems. I'm just trying to prepare if there are problems.

This is like giving FedEx trucks to UPS by mistake, you would hope they would be well cared for, but you might wonder if there is sugar in the gas tank and cut brake lines at the end of the day. Competition and greed can bring out the worst in some people.

Try to disconnect one fan during running and you will see result - it will stop hashing.

Is there any way to avoid stopping?

Edit: To make it clear, this is a shipping company screw-up, not bitmain's fault.
