I fully support the OP's motives. As we can see right now all the local boards are actively engaging with their fellow countrymen, but our is a bit silent. I want to take this opportunity to call all our fellow Filipino members here on this forum to be active in our own boards, and also to bump this thread. Hopefully this will be noticed by our high-ranking members here and I also hope to see changes in the following weeks. Thank you and best regards.

It would be nice to have a merit source on the local board but sadly the board is not that active. There are a lot of topics but they are not up to date. Maybe we should return to our local board and start being noisy again.
Nope, the monthly stats for local boards' activity will beg to disagree with your statement. You can even check it out for yourself and see the recent month's activity of Pilipinas Boards is currently in 7th place on the most posts made, and 5th place on the most active members. However, we only are only on 3rd least shared merit and 2nd least on merit/post ratio. You can it out here Local board during October 2022

Post activity per local board during October 2022

Number of active members per local board during October 2022

Merit shared per local board during October 2022

Merit/Post ratio per local board for October 2022

I don't know if there is a merit source giving merits on the local board or busy giving merits on the international board.
There is only one merit source for Pilipinas Board however he is now inactive starting when an issue rose that involve him and other members of the forums.

Bumping this thread for an update in regard to crwth's application as a Merit Source on our local board.

Also, there's currently an active discussion about this on our local board as we lack a merit source which resulted in some of our local users posting on global boards such as Bitcoin Discussion or Economics about their topics and initiatives as they won't receive the credit or merit for their quality threads. We also, don't have a merit source on our local board as the only merit source we had is now inactive.

Yes you are right that mate and our current merit source Is not active and this is the reason why our local boards has a lesser merit circulation and one thing is that some of our fellow countrymen prefer to post in global section in order to receive more merits because in our local boards it's hard to gain merits cause lack of support by our current merit source and also it's time to look another or a new merit source who look for the quality threads and give some merits.

I think if your intention to post on your local board to increase the activity to seek theymos attention, I think it's not gonna work since I believe it will encourage spam, not high quality post. Well although the merit source is from local board, he doesn't owe anything to merit his local board since it's up to him. Maybe he doesn't see any high quality post in his local board, so he's just send a high quality post in global board.

It’s about time to get a new Merit source for our local board, and @crwth seems to be the only one who are interested to help and be our new Merit source. I’m sure this application is still active, not sure though if there are changes to become a merit source, but I know @crwth will comply to that, better for him to affirm this application as well.

You can't really merit your thread or post so I am talking about the merit deserving post created by others not by themselves so its entirely different if I am not mistaken.
What are you talking about? I'm saying that there's a topic in our local board that has that purpose Merit your own thread? I don't understand what you are trying to say. I thought you said that there should be a thread for posts that deserves it assuming that you are talking about it in local boards and in the Philippines local board, that's the one the post that collates good posts and I think there are old ones but not sure if it's still active.
Yes I went through the thread but based on my observation that thread is created with the purpose of collect your good post which deserves merits because two users posted there collected their own good posts and threads but I am saying that there should be a thread which is supposed to post unmerited posts created by others not by ourselves there is a difference in that right.

For reference a thread like this: [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source which is used to report good post created by others so if someone wish to spend their sMerit then it will make their job easier.

I created the thread on our local because i saw theres some members getting active on our board and also i have some sMerits to share with them, so they get encouraged to get active and still there's a merit circulation.  I'm not a merit source but it's useless to hold merit why not give it to the really deserves it and I start with our local Pilipinas board.

Also with the LoyceV content, I already shared some of their good threads that is really deserved merit.

Whenever you guys found the post(s) which deserve merits but didn't get enough then share your sMerits, if you have zero sMerits then you can have a thread like "Report good post here" so merit cycle will be still there until Theymos thinks that they are short of required merits.
No need to create a post like this anymore. It already exists.

And this can be done in all other boards as well to keep the cycle. Wink

In Pilipinas local board all we need is an active member who's worthy to became a merit source.  Spending at least 4-8 hours here and contributed already for the local board.
Spending 4-8 hours daily on the forum in order to become merit source? Don't you think that it is an overkill, making this position like a full time job.

Then there will be some suggestions to make the merit sources also as staffs like moderators. Cheesy

Man, I can hardly believe that it is difficult for you to find ten worthy messages, not only on the local board,
~Snipped~
So I hope you will overcome your laziness and still decide to take this step.  Wink
Finding ten merit-worthy posts isn't an issue for the general boards, but I prefer to become a merit source for our local board and that's where things get tricky [not enough activity in the past few months]!
- I can't recall when was the last time theymos approved an application concerning posts that were in general boards.

especially since about a year ago I already asked you about this (and offered to apply).
Yes, I do remember that [time flies] Smiley

In my opinion, it should be a post that is worthy to receive merit and yet no one give a single merit then I think that will give you a better chance of becoming one.
Not really, as theymos clearly said that it you don't have to submit posts without merit, but those that didn't receive enough merit, as seen in the quote below. So there is really no need to complicate this; just find 10 good posts written in the last few months that could have received more merit and that's about it.

2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.

That's been my plan for the past year or two [refer to my "Merit source application folder in this screenshot"], but I always had and still have a hard time finding ten posts that would fall under the "theymos's" criteria [that's probably also the case with other Filipino users].
Man, I can hardly believe that it is difficult for you to find ten worthy messages, not only on the local board, because for me it still remains a mystery how such an oldschool guy like you still has not become a source of merit. Although you yourself know this very well ... especially since about a year ago I already asked you about this (and offered to apply). If there's no qualified to became a Merit source then we can still cycle our merits if we have an extra time lets go to our local board and look for those worthy Poster and give our sMerit to them.  (No merit source no worry easy as that)

If you would ask me, I think I can fins ten but it would take a long time to find one. When I was searching for unmerited post that is worth to send merits but there are merits sent already about 1-10 merits like 1-5 each merit transaction.

Unfortunately, most of them doesn't fall under the following criterion:
Oh well. I just went with my gut who I think made an effort to create a post and share it, but what the heck. I can do better.

One of them was from last year Tongue
I knew it! I was supposed to double-check but didn't have the opportunity to do so so, that's my fault lol.  Shocked

@crwth
I forgot to mention in my previous post to update the first post with the new ones [might increase your chances of becoming one (assuming that theymos only checks the first post in such threads)].
- I've seen others have done it before while also adding a "changelog" at the bottom of the main post.
That's a great idea. I might dabble with Rikafip's suggestion and check on finding good posts for the recent months. So that way, even if it's not a topic post, I might have missed out on great posts by members as well.

Dunno, maybe you are overthinking it, or setting standards way too high.
That used to be the case when theymos introduced the Merit system back in 2018, but after I returned from a short hiatus in 2019, I did lower my standards.

If you have troubles finding good posts that don't have enough merit, you might wanna check your board's most merited posts and topics via @DdmrDdmr Merit dashboard, so maybe you can find some good posts that can be used for application. It's set at the last ~8 months, but you can adjust it as you see fit.
Thank you for that suggestion... It helped in adding two more to my list [after I narrowed it down to the past couple of months], but it seems that the main issue is the activity on our local board [unfortunately].
