I think, nothing in this world is perfect including Bitcoin. It has various flaws like more time for transaction confirmation and high fees for transactions. Various altcoins help Bitcoin in overcoming these flaws and help in making the crypto ecosystem more mainstream. Altcoins play a very important role in making crypto more mature and popular.
With the development of science and technology, more secure and reliable, more perfect cryptocurrency will occupy the dominant position of the market, because Bitcoin has too many disadvantages, which is not conducive to people's use and circulation, and will eventually be eliminated!

I don't think there are other way to finally switch Bitcoin enthusiasts to altcoin because the reason why they like Bitcoin is being the first cryptocurrency that survive in spite of so many rejections and obstacles that altcoin didn't experience. 
BTC it's like a gold, you hold it during the life, Alts are like investing in the regular company. Before coming in crypto I wanted to invest in some startups and had no idea about crypto. Right now I have possibilities to invest some money in the company I like. The best solution for the modern world.

I generally think that if bitcoin will cease to exist, the altcoins will not survive, because they are all tied to bitcoin.
