Hey OP the article is a good read. Totally love the information presented and how simplistic it is. From a non-scientific view, I have observed that an early sign of gambling addiction can be noticed not really when playing a casino game but in the individual's everyday life. I have a friend who would want to place a bet on anything. For example, he may say, "I bet you $5, I'd drink the beer faster than you" or When we're playing a game on PS5 he is always bent on placing bets. In my estimation, this is a very early manifestation of gambling addiction.

I don't think so. Your friend just likes the feeling of excitement, so he makes a bet if he feels he can get a profit. In addition, most likely he considers himself more successful and lucky than you or other people around him, so through betting he tries to prove it to everyone.

Gambling addiction is when a person spends all his money on gambling and can't stop. Such a person does not need betting, he needs a buzz which brings winning.

A few years ago when I started with Online Poker gambling, I was getting obsessed by it and without even noticing it I was getting addicted. I started gambling poker over at Pokerstarts and was pretty successful from the beginning. I could actually make some money but it wasn't enough for the time wasted in the game.

I would come home from work straight to the computer to play poker tournaments, which, as you know, is very time-consuming. I would stay hours on playing and wasn't getting any dinner or any sleep. And this for just a few coppers. Sometimes you would stay on the money, but other times I would simply waste a lot of time and get no prize. This went on and on, and even with some winnings my wife was getting worried because I wouldn't go out and on the weekends and stay home doing the same thing all over again.

This went on and on until it started to affect my personal life and my wife even threatened to leave me. This was when I saw I had a problem with gambling and was able to walk away: For me, it was simple to get away as I am a very active guy and do a lot of sports, so I took skate and surf and left gambling behind to fight for my family.

So, long story short, I was about to lose my family because of gambling but was able to recognise the signs before it actually happened. Today, I still play poker online but I know when to stop and how precious is my time, so I can actually live with it without having any negative impact.

Many of us here will not admit that we are addicts and that includes me if I have signs of addiction, as long as I can keep up I will just deny it, we want the dopamine effect of gambling and without it, we feel like we are not complete, in fact, many gamblers don't care about winning and losing they just want the excitement part of gambling, this is a different kind of addiction and I consider this a higher level and a dangerous addiction.

I can say that I'm not addicted because so far I can quite control when to play and also stop.
An interesting article and in one section it is stated that one of the actions that can lead to addiction is when players try to cover the losses experienced and this must be a concern so that we as gamblers never try to cover losses, continue gambling because we really want to play not because want to cover what has been lost before.

I'm little into addiction, because I spend what I've kept aside for some prime need. The article gives a big list of contents. Going through the entire article will give an overview on how to stay away from gambling addiction. In all means if the gambler himself doesn't have the control, there is no way to get out of addiction through meditation, medication, drugs and other measures.
I am also a bit addicted to gambling but if I want I can control myself and stop gambling but I enjoy it and sometimes I indulge in gambling which gives me a military peace and when I win gambling it gives me more pleasure so  I gamble occasionally but I'm not totally addicted to it and I don't gamble regularly

Everyone likes to go to a casino here and then. But unfortunately, there are those who cannot visit a casino simply for pure leisure. Gambling can turn from a hobby or a leisure activity into a serious addiction problem. Many compare the rush of gambling to the euphory of cocaine, as it can also become an addition.

I'm not a gambling addict and if I am turning into one I will fight my way out or will do everything within my means to stop myself from being addicted to gambling, after reading all the bad things about gambling addiction here in Bitcointalk, that's the worse thing that could possibly happen to me getting lost because of addiction.

I know all the signs of addiction and I even see in my friends how gambling ruins your thinking and your way of life financially, mentally, and spiritually, those who are gambling should see to it that they will always  check if they cross the warning line

So, do you know if you have a problem with gambling?
Of course, we all know about the badness and dangers of gambling here, of course this is commonly known by people, because quite a lot of addicts think about doubling money easily when winning online gambling bets, they don't care about the risk, many of us ignore the vices of gambling, they only think how to multiply that money.

I remember about Gambling Addiction and Problem Gambling.
Example:
Quote
Gambling addiction—also known as pathological gambling, compulsive gambling or gambling disorder—is an impulse-control disorder. If you're a compulsive gambler, you can't control the impulse to gamble, even when it has negative consequences for you or your loved ones. You'll gamble whether you're up or down, broke or flush, and you'll keep gambling regardless of the consequences—even when you know that the odds are against you or you can't afford to lose.

In the quote above there are three points for someone's addiction to continue gambling, namely: pathological gambling, this is one of the diseases suffered by gambling addicts who are based on emotions and so on this compulsive behavior is dangerous they tend to constantly do and repeat every individual who is addicted to gambling, if they are attacked by a compulsive disease they cannot be controlled, if they don't gamble, it will have an impact on stress and disruption in everyday life and the last is a delusional disorderhaunts gambling addicts.

One of the signs of addiction was that he was already using money meant for other things, such as bills, and he would bet it, hoping to win and double the money, but he lost it all. Mostly, the mind of someone addicted to gambling is not thinking about losing their money; it is always thinking of a way to have money to bet on, whether they borrow money or sell the appliances in their homes. I agree that they often chase money and want to win big in a single bet.
That is it, the worst part of it is when some addicts will have little amount of money to eat and to meet the daily needs and yet use misty of money to gamble and having a very imperfect life. I have seen this happened to a friend of mine before that even sold some of his property to gamble with the money and later filled with regrets as he still lost all.

Addicted gamblers behave as if they have lost some parts of their reasoning. They do not think of losses and the effect of such lost in their life. They only think of how big they win and how they will spend their big winning. Even when you are giving them an advice at that particular time, it will fall on deaf ears. Addiction is a bad thing, it is not something you wish someone you love.

There is no justification that will truly sever the link between offline and online gambling, people are addicted irrespective of the two. So long they are accessible, you see people uncontrollably gambling, though online addiction should be more since they are easier to access.

And for the question of the OP, No, I am not addicted and I play online all the time due to the ease of accessibility. The secret of my not being addicted is that I am a trader, I prefer making money through trading rather than thinking I can make it through gambling. So, I only gamble for fun.

Gambling can turn from a hobby or a leisure activity into a serious addiction problem. Many compare the rush of gambling to the euphory of cocaine, as it can also become an addition.

First of all, things that are fun, will not be separated from our lives, including gambling. gambling has been discovered from ancient times, and developed in such a way from time to time. which was originally a traditional activity, until it developed rapidly into a gambling house. As you said, gambling can turn from a hobby or leisure activity into a serious addictive problem. many compare gambling addiction to the euphoria of cocaine, as it can also be an adjunct. I will say again what I said, things that are fun will never be separated from human life including everything that makes it addictive and not only tied to gambling activities. everything in excess, it is not good.

Online gambling brought casinos closer than ever before, and the problem of addiction in the world of gambling is a serious social illness. There are a few signs to look for when starting to gamble online to avoid problems of addiction. So, do you know if you have a problem with gambling? Here's an interesting article about this subject.

Currently, online casinos can be enjoyed by all groups without being bound by time and place. everyone can access it easily, when they want to carry out gambling activities. As I said before, excessive hobby can lead to serious addiction problems. I will also add that most gamblers, at first, will not realize that their hobby is too much. so without them knowing it, most of them have a tendency problem that leads to addiction.

I am a fairly active gambler, especially sports betting. but I can overcome, to sort out, and take responsibility with self-control.  although, sometimes there are times when I get carried away by excessive emotions.
IMO. the most important thing to remember is, something that is too much is not good, even if it is part of a hobby. I have good self-control and understanding, that being gambling is just part of the fun entertainment.

Well no, I'm not at the moment, but I always keep in mind that you can't be too confident, because certain circumstances in life can make it easier for you to fall into addiction, be it gambling, alcohol or whatever. The fact that I currently use gambling moderately and responsibly is no guarantee that I will always continue to do so, that is why we cannot let our guard down, and in this forum we have seen threads of people who have been gambling for years and at one point lost considerably more than they had anticipated and could afford.

Recurring gambling addiction is quite common to those who have recently experienced a winning streak but ended up losing most of it as this triggers excitement in the gambler
knowing that they have won and may continue winning if they try to gamble continuously. I've seen some people who have a good grasp and control over their gambling activities but end up getting addicted to it once again. If in any case, you have experience getting addicted to gambling or anything such as alcohol, drugs etc, and have lost control of themselves, it's better to call someone for help as it is not easy to stop it immediately.

The people that are addicted are most likely chasing money, forgetting what gambling should be, or not know what gambling is, that it is a game of luck. Also not knowing that gambling sites are in control, in a way that the games will pay the casinos more than gamblers with the types of odds the gambling sites set.

Once someone is not chasing money while gambling, like monthly income or weekly income, but using just little amount to play, he will notice he is not frequently gambling and no addiction.

One of the signs of addiction was that he was already using money meant for other things, such as bills, and he would bet it, hoping to win and double the money, but he lost it all. Often problems with gambling addiction go unnoticed by the players themselves. Until a certain point, when it may already be too late and urgent action needs to be taken. There is a very thin line between hobby and addiction. In fact, any hobby that a person is very fond of turns into an obsession. Gambling is no exception, but the negative consequences are exacerbated by material losses and debts. I think that if it were not for monetary losses, then they didn't even pay attention to gambling addiction.

According to the article, here are the signs:

Quote
Feeling the need to be secretive about gambling
    Having trouble controlling gambling habits
Gambling when you cannot afford to
Your friends and family express concern about your gambling

So if anyone see some symptoms already, it's about time to seek help, as there are no single reasons, it should be the combination of this.

I haven't experienced those in my past so maybe I'm not that addicted.

But everyone should be very very careful, gambling is really a disease that is hard to control.

Especially the new gamblers have to face some problem in gambling in the field who fail to control themselves. Some misconceptions make them addicted to gambling. Gambling is a center of entertainment if gambling is done here at Proper way. Now there are many online sites where it is very easy to gobble up without informing others. Everyone should keep gambling under control. It should not be overlooked as a source of income. Then we will be able to enjoy the real pleasure of gambling.

The article is informative and can make you realize if you're already an addicted gambler. Well, there are people who can't control themselves when they gamble, started playing for leisure but then when they lost significant amount the eagerness to win it back is driving them to keep playing. I was once an addicted gambler few years back. Based on my experience, it's very hard to overcome the addiction especially if the temptation is pushing you to play again. That's why it takes courage and determination to overcome what you used to. Anyway, I still gamble but in moderation using a spare money.

So, do you know if you have a problem with gambling?

Luckily for me, I do not have the signs of a gambling addict. I am still pretty much in control of myself in respect to my gambling habits.

I do not gamble too much and control the money that I used to gamble. If that money is gone, I stop. If I lose that day, I do not chase the wins.

I enjoy gambling and the excitement is incredible, but I can go for weeks without gambling if my schedule does not permit to play or gamble. I also do not go out of my way just to gamble or go into debt because of gambling.

Hopefully, it remains that way even though I gamble a lot lately.

If gambling addiction means gambling more than your budget. If gambling addiction is borrowing to gamble even when  you clearly don't have the  money. If gambling addiction is feeling sick whenever you don't gamble and if gambling addiction means gambling all day long. Then I know that I am not a gambling addict.

Some signs also include :

  • Inability to cutback, stop or control gambling
  • Gambling to escape problems or relieve feelings of helplessness, guilt, anxiety or depression
  • Lying to family members or others to hide the extent of your gambling
  • Risking or losing important relationships, a job, or school or work opportunities because of gambling
  • Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut down on gambling

luckily for me I don't have any addiction, for example about gambling I just bet a little money and I manage to stay a long time without playing or betting, that's a sign that I don't live dependent on gambling, I have total control of my finances, I don't create high expectations in games, I know it's very dangerous to play. for example my monthly bankroll does not exceed 20$ except when I manage to make a profit then the bankroll increases I withdraw leaving only 10$ to 20$ and when I lose all my bankroll I spend days without playing and then I put back 5$ to 10$ and I only play therefore. I do this so as not to harm my accounts with other things

I'm little into addiction, because I spend what I've kept aside for some prime need.

this is not a small addiction and to be honest this is a big problem, because let's imagine the following:

your family gives you 1 million dollars to keep because they want to buy a house

you only have 10$ to play, you will lose the 10$, then you will use the 1 million dollars to play and in your head you will be thinking that you can win and that later you will return it, but you will only be losing, until in the end of the day you lost all 1 million dollars and your family will hate you, and this is what they call the great consequence of gambling addiction, this is the most serious level of gambling addiction, be careful with gambling, maybe whether you stop playing
