SCANIA and ARROUND partnership

We are extremely happy to announce our partnership with Scania, the world’s leading provider of transport solutions.

Together we are launching a joint project aimed at introducing the new Scania NTG truck via our app using augmented reality technologies.

It’s going to be an interactive alternative to a printed catalogue. When a code is recognized by our AR Camera, a 3D model of the new truck is generated which can be manipulated in all directions, zoomed in and out, allowing each tiny detail to be seen up close and from any angle. Accompanying the model will be additional on demand data.

The AR campaign will enhance Scania’s existing offline and digital campaigns, and demonstrate how AR, provided by ARROUND, can be used to engage users in brand new ways, through brining products to life digitally and maximizing existing marketing channels.

Augmented Reality (AR) vs. Virtual Reality (VR): What’s the Difference?

The terms “virtual reality” and “augmented reality” get thrown around a lot these days, thanks to the resurgence of VR headsetsheralded by the Oculus Rift and the use of AR apps and games like Pokemon Go. They sound similar, and as the technologies develop, they bleed over into each other a bit. They’re two very different concepts, though, with characteristics that readily distinguish them from one another.

Augmented and virtual reality mean business: Everything you need to know

Overhyped by some, drastically underestimated by others, few emerging technologies have generated the digital ink like virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality(MR).

Still lumbering through the novelty phase and roller coaster-like hype cycles, the technologies are only just beginning to show signs of real world usefulness with a new generation of hardware and software applications aimed at the enterprise and at end users like you.

On the line is what could grow to be a $108 billion AR/VR industry as soon as 2021. Here’s what you need to know.

Adventurers get a virtual taste of Ras Al Khaimah zipline in London

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority is “virtually” flying high in London this week using augmented reality to give zipliners at Southbank riding the world’s longest and fastest city-centre zip a taste of what it’s like to ride the world’s longest.

Augmented reality progresses into construction industry

On nearly every construction job site, there is a large, thick, well-worn book of detailed drawings. These design plans are the instruction book for the project. They are complicated, they are hard to carry around a busy job site and they are on their way out if augmented reality technology can reach its potential.

Augmented reality exhibit lets museum guests roam with dinos

The “Night at the Museum” movies came with the tagline, “Where history comes to life.”

That tagline can now apply to the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land, which has opened an augmented reality (AR) exhibit where guests can roam with dinosaurs, dolphins, rhinos, and even an astronaut. Museum visitors can experience the “Adventurers” AR display on the large screen adjacent to Devil Rex in the T-rex atrium.

Augmented reality improves air traffic control

Thanks to EU-funded research, it will be now easier to visualise airport traffic from the control tower even in adverse weather conditions. Using augmented reality tools, RETINA will modernise Europe’s air traffic management for safer, smarter and smoother air travel.

What People Think Of Augmented Reality

The phenomenon of Pokémon Go put augmented reality on the awareness map for many consumers, even though that was only one use.
It turns out there may be a wide range of consumer perceptions and awareness levels around augmented reality, with a key characteristic being that people want AR to be practical.

Want to make the most of AR? Here’s how consumers actually use it

Many brands are beginning to understand the definition and impact of augmented reality. But there are few insights into the AR consumer, and even fewer insights into the messaging and communication of how and why AR should be used to that consumer. Therefore brands who may have already developed an AR tool, or are in the process of developing one, need to know how they can message and communicate their solution, because AR is likely to be a game-changer for a variety of products and services.

The current reality of augmented reality

Augmented reality is on the cusp of being one of the technological advances that are all but guaranteed to change our day-to-day behavior. Imagine living in a world filled with "movie magic." A world so packed with computer-generated images, it's hard to tell fantasy from reality. That's the dream, but where are we now, and who is going to get us there first? Here's a quick overview of the state of AR.

Times Square floods in “Unmoored,” an AR art experience by Mel Chin and Microsoft

Like something out of a natural disaster film like “The Day After Tomorrow,” Times Square is submerged underwater and boats have replaced car traffic in a new augmented reality experience by artist Mel Chin called “Unmoored.”

Using a HoloLens headset from Microsoft on Thursday and Friday or a downloaded app on your phone, the city hub becomes an underwater adventure. Looking up, you will see a flotilla of boats sailing around actual buildings as they bump into one another and waves move all around them.

Showpad uses augmented reality to help salespeople sell stuff

Augmented reality (AR) may not be a new medium, but with the rise of powerful mobile devices, it could be on the cusp of breaking into the mainstream.
We reported yesterday that in the first six months of 2018 the number of AR startups grew by 50 percent, while the big tech firms continue to test use cases outside of gaming. Facebook is trialing AR news feed ads, for example, while eBay is using AR to help sellers find the right box for their product. Amazon is also investing in AR, rolling out a feature that lets shoppers view a 3D virtual version of a product in their home before buying.
