Currently testing voltage offset +1

Sorry for the dumb question, but whats the difference between GHSasc and GHSav. I assume the latter stands for GH?S average?

Hi everyone,
Am new in ming BTC, I just acquire 9pcs of Avalon 841 with 13.5th/s. And as to my little research, I learn that I should be able to mine at least $5 in a day. I acquired 9 pcs with all together 121.5TH/S but surprisingly I can only make between $3 to $4 dollar in a day with 121TH/S.
Please I need a guide, is it what am doing is wrong or do I need more things to do that is the current profit rate to run 121.5TH/S.
I will appreciate forum support and guide.
Thanks
Attempting to calculate $ profits is not really feasible, just a guess. stick with calculating btc returns but keeping in mind that number will fluctuate with difficulty changes

In the configuration page
Enter in the more options

Code:
--avalon7-voltage-level 12

the level can be changed from 6 to 15 i think?
10 gives me around 6.2 th ( on a 741)
Just see what suits your gear.

Guys, tell me how to reduce the voltage more than the value of -2, read on the forum that you can fix the config, but I do not understand how to do it.
Thank!

I got a hold of 2 of these the other day. the 721s

my cost was zero

anyone have a good setting

to do say 5th at 700 watts?

don't feel like reading the whole thread.

Maybe try 12 @ -2 or 11 @ -1?

I run my 741 at 10 @ -2 and it does about 6.5th/s

from above:

To drop lower you have to use the --Avalon7-voltage switch in Other Options. I went as low as 10 at which point the 721 would only start enough to run at 1.5THs. Using voltage 11 fired up all strings but put speed around 3.5THs. 12 with -2 as offset was the sweet spot for me with very low power use (and temps) and decent hash speed.

I have an issue where my Avalon 741 is only hashing at around 3.6TH for some reason.

It is running off a Bitmain 1600W PSU so that is not the problem.
~

You'll probably want to ask here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/troubleshooting-and-repair-guide-for-avalonminer-models-721-741-761-821-841-3224256, the A-721, -741, -821, -841 Support thread.

I will suggest that you should try another PSU. That one may be defective.

Mine on!

Take a look at the PMU output in your log. It is in there as Vi and vo Voltage in and out. Your V in is good on all 4 ports however your V out on ports 1 and 2 are way to low not providing enough power for 2 out of the 4 hash boards to initialize.

Hope that helps.

I have an issue where my Avalon 741 is only hashing at around 3.6TH for some reason.

It is running off a Bitmain 1600W PSU so that is not the problem.

From what i can see from the log, 2/4 of the MW pieces are all 0, which i assume means that they are not hashing, which would explain the 50% speed.

I've updated the firmware, left it running with and without the controller plugged in, attempting to reset it somehow but it the issue still persists.

This is the log:

I know it's not the best thing in the world but you ever considered the bucket a/c, I have seen a few good ones and all you need is a fan, bucket, pvc pipe and one of those cool gel packs.
might work out for one or two miners, look it up on you tube. A/C bucket

Okay I see your point. The miner would suck all the cold air out faster than the compressor could generate more and with the door open would not be storing cold air. Its better to wait 6 mos for more cold weather as Phil would say

Just remember that any refrigerator is designed to keep things cool and do so by removing just a small amount of added heat load from warm food/drink -- NOT continuously remove significant additional heat loads! Food, drink, whatnot does not continuously generate more heat.

Running my A721 in the Basement . I run a square 24" fan pointed to the miner on the intake side. I created a 3-sided frame around the miner using wood from an old toddler bed then draped styrofoam put 16 x 6' insulation panels on the 3 sides over the wood. (yes aware of fire hazard and researching Phils's way)

Run miner with these settings
Voltage Offset = -2
Min Fan 10%

Temp is 26/88
Fan is 3540rpm / 42%
Avg GHSasc is 6434

Run it on certain pools and the miner will hum nicely.
CKpool is one that loves these miners.

Also working on using a mini compac fridge to provide some cooling or a humidifier but again this is taking ideas and seeing if it is a worth while project.

As Haggs said, -2 is the lowest value for voltage offset. If you look at the code Haggs posted it gives the accepted range each switch will use.

To drop lower you have to use the --Avalon7-voltage switch in Other Options. I went as low as 10 at which point the 721 would only start enough to run at 1.5THs. Using voltage 11 fired up all strings but put speed around 3.5THs. 12 with -2 as offset was the sweet spot for me with very low power use (and temps) and decent hash speed.

edit: for voltage adjustment the command code is
 --avalon7-voltage-level
"Set Avalon7 default level of core voltage, range:[0, 15], step: 1")

You can see the result of different numbers by looking at the cgminer API log for the string Vin and Vout

Yer quite welcome  Cool
Hadn't thought about my 6x 741's up in the room with my main farm but now that you mention it think I'll drop their voltage as well. Gets to 85-90F up there on hot days. Like you I have been using just the -2 offset with them so anything that can drop their power/temps a bit more is good.

edit: and Merit to you for reminding me to apply this to my 741'S

Got the 721 to be office friendly.
~ Smiley

I've been following this with keen interest. My 741's operate in an 'unfriendly' (warm) environment. This little tweak makes a huge difference for 'em.

Edit: I had already been running with -2 voltage offset.

Thanks to HagssFIN, and NotFuzzyWarm (who knew the question to ask  Grin ).
