Just curious why distributor is better than Amazon Fullfilment Service? Amazon have cheap shipping options for customers, easy payment, fast fullfilment, number of orders equal to available inventory, hustle free returns, trusted brand.

Reshipping services could be a workaround to the small list of supported countries if you still want low prices. Adds a bit to the cost but it's still likely better than what you'd get from buying local.

Dear Steve(Steven Mosher),

I have a question, that is not about orders, payments, shipping etc. I'm curious do you have any internal information about developing new miner from your company? Is there any chance in the next few(5 to 6) months to introduce new model with better specs, or 741 will be in the market(and production line) for a longer period?

They did have a 721 and now a 741  maybe  a 761  same chip but better design

Miner Warez
ORDER #1075
Your order has been canceled
Order #1075 was canceled because we suspect it is fraudulent and your payment has been refunded

Company of retards  Cool

Actually  it is a shopify  issue.

   1. there were a few frauduant orders. This cause Shopify to examine every order and flag any that might have the slightest issue
   2. Challenges will be things like ordering from country X and shipping to country Y

if your write to them they will explain  why SHOPIFY  classed your order as it did.

Hopefully BTC  payment will be enabled shortly.

Steve

OMG!!!  Shocked

When you try to checkout, they have pretty short list of supported contries for delivery:

United States
Canada
Hungary
Germany
----------
Argentina
Brazil
Canada
Germany
Hungary
Japan
Mexico
South Africa
U.S. Outlying Islands
United Kingdom
United States

What a reseller they are if they support deliveries to only 1/3 of the world?!
What a shame...

That is the first one.

I selected a reseller based on the geographical distribution of prior orders in the store. For all of 2017  I selected only those orders less than 60 units.
Then I looked at the countries.

Top Countries for Individual Orders:  US, Canada, Mexico.

Next regions will be

A) South America.  Working with a couple folks, they all want exclusives which doesnt serve the customer well..
B) Russia.  Dozens of folks want to distribute, again they all want an exclusive.
C) Asia.  Korea is done, but they have not launched.   I have a bunch of folks wanting to distribute out of HK/Malaysia  etc.
D) EU.  In discussion. Eu warranty rulz  are a PITA

Many of these people dont like my terms. My terms are dont be greedy. Its why I will rarely give an exclusive.  Number one goal for me is to be able to
put the miners in the hands of individuals  for around the same price as they would have paid before.

Germany, Hungary and UK are EU in that list

Ya. I mean a dedicated EU disty.

Question, I'm in EU but not one of those countries. I'm a business but want to order less then 60 with bank wire transfer. Can I order from Canaan directtly (5 to 10 units).

Just a short review

I received 2 Avalon 741 Miners + Miner Controller 3 days back.
They sent me the BTC amount and address via email and I paid promptly and sent them the Transaction ID. I received the miners in Singapore 2 days later via Fedex. Excellent service

I had some issues with the Miner Controller initially. The miners were stuck in Idle (Yellow Light) and the Controller was not detecting the Miners.
I flashed the SD Card with the latest firmware 20170719 from the following link and it works now like a charm

https://github.com/Canaan-Creative/avalon7-docs/wiki/AvalonMiner-741-firmware-downloads#Version_20170719

Currently mining at home (super expensive electricity in Singapore) so I am on the lookout for some hosting service nearby.

Will upload pics this evening.

Thanks Steven!

I got a shipping notice from the usa distributor.

So  I will await it .

Next question is.  I have a canaan.io order from the 31st. of aug.  I assume I could be contacted about that in the next few days. As I would take  it.

Lol, now I'm a little worried I was a little before you and have heard nothing, here's to hoping. I did also recevie an e-mail from Lily today saying they probably wouldn't be able to fill my Aug 31 order from the fulfillment house... Nothing to do but sit and wait I guess.

Thanks Steve;

Is it safe to assume a Small Aug. 31 order remaining with Casnaan.com would be fulfilled on a fifo basis?

Yes. The issue is that figuring out where you are in the stack is hard.

 A) people who came earlier may be bailing because they were buy on the pure speculation that BTC would go from 5K to 10K
They will cancel... or worse  when we give them the address and pricein BTC  they will say nothing and we wait for 2 days
for them to respond ( the price is good for 2 days)

 B)  some people  try to double up their order once we respond.  When there were fewer orders it was always easy just
       to meet those demands.

email me you order number.

Again, Kudos!

Just as with having so few miner makers, exclusive distributorships are NEVER good. All it leads to is the scalping seen on Amazon, eBay et al. Sure a part of the market will pay the premium -- as a LAST RESORT.

Canaan is on the right track by looking for reputable distributors who will price fairly and provide decent customer support.

StevenMosher,

Thanks for bringing everyone up to date, hopefully shopify sorts everything out, as I'm guessing between that and everyone checking on order status they are going to be swamped.

Do you know if the date of September 20th on their site, is a second batch arriving or is that the first batch which is currently sold out. Thanks

They had orders for 3X  what I could send them,  so we are arranging another shipment.  Catching up will take a while.

So theoretically, if bitmain and all their miners they run shut down, 1-2 days before difficulty change, would enough hashing power come off the network to actually drop difficulty, i would think if that was possible they would be doing that to lock in another two weeks of higher profitability.

and if they think their gov is shutting them down  they will mine and dump as much as they can until the shut down.

as for canaan.io

they mention the 20th

but if their gov forbid  btc to cash trading they may not sell from china  and ship to usa  which is why I ordered 1 from the usa distributor

 Err no.

In order to comply with regulations we decided a couple months ago that we would  shift to a model where.

     A)  All large orders are shipped from  China, wire transfer only. Business to Business only. using an approved exporting company.
     B)  All small orders would be handled by distributors outside China. Disty can accpt payments that we cannot

The move has been in the works for a couple of months. First off it was clear to me that handling hundreds of individual orders in countries with various
languages was a huge time sink on the staff.  Lets put it this way.  If I have 100 orders at the store 90  would be individual orders, and 10 would be orders
for hundreds and thousands of units.  So we decided a couple months ago to target a shift to distributors for small orders.  It has not gone smoothly.
having BTC spike to 5K  in the middle of it was kinda like having Hurricane Harvey pause over our site and rain down orders for days and days, all the while
we are in the final stages of shifting to a distribution model for individual miners. Basically a cluster fuck. I own every bit of it.

Steve,
Thank you VERY much for being possibly the 1st miner manufacturer to finally lay down a clear marketing path and giving all very valid reasons for it.

re: Bootstrap.
Damn fine idea as is describes exactly how I grew my initial 2x 10GHs Jala's from BFL back in Feb 2014 along with very quickly 4 Ant s1's once they dropped to less than $1.5k each. Those were the total cash investment + 1 of the infamous AMT/Bitmine.ch A1 miners... $8k
After that the farm itself financed all upgrades/expansion to my current 245+THs... As you described - all on a very regular basis. Wish I had more power left where the farm is. Mebe as s9's go titsup (very few prob so far though) I'll work on replacing them with two A741 at a time... Right now is 3/4 s9's and 1/4 A721 & A741's
Cheers!
