Hey, so when they back in stock Steven will provide discounted price for those who bought before at 763.71$ ?
If so, bet you pay for shipping.
Mine bought at the higher price includes the shipping cost so is actually cheaper than before.

Steven already replied to my inquiry and requested Lily to keep the price at 714$+shipping for customers who had any orders placed before price rise.

I am going to try to find you a better 24/30 amp pdu on eBay

I was tired last night.

there are many good used ones for under 75 bucks

this is very good and will allow for 4 or 5  avalon 741's

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PDU-L6-30P-200-208-240-Volt-21x-C13-6x-C19-outlets-10CXM-6-2kW-/253088942351?

has many outlets  and can handle different plugs

has split fuse   1 half can do 20 amps  other half can do 20 amps  but combined is around 24-25 amps  since you plug into a 30 amp  240 outlet

this is also a good price for used.

I like this item and just made an offer for two of them  I offered 30 + 30 = 60 for 2.   shipping is   reduced for 2 for 52

if he takes the offer I will pay  112 for the 2

So how do you guys handle the large power pull required, if your running this 5 to 10 units from a residential address (I'm in the US).  Since I'm a noob around this, and say it needs roughly 5500 watts for 5 units, I would imagine you couldn't run all 5 from the outlets in one room?  I have two breaker panels, one at each end of the house, and I noticed I have one 30 amp breaker in each panel, but a boatload of 20 amp breakers.  Anyone help me out trying to understand how I might run this?

Thanks

If all you want to ever run is 5 741's, nothing more, then you will need a 30 amp bipole breaker. Have an electrician install the breaker and run at least 10awg copper wire to a L6-30 receptacle. I use Leviton Part#2620. From there, you will need to purchase a PDU (Power Distribution Unit). Both Tripp Lite and APC make 4-6 port PDU's that are compatible with the L6-30 Receptacle. You will also need Power cables to connect the PDU to the PSU that you choose. The PDU side will most likely be C20 cables, but pay attention to the power connector on the PSU side as well so you order the right cable combination. Common power cables are C20 to C19 or C20 to C13. I typically buy my cables from IronBox Electric on Amazon. Great selection, high quality, free shipping. Hopefully this will get you started.

Hey thanks for that...but ultimately I'm probably wanting to run about 10...made up of 741's, D3's and 1 L3+....sounds like you have the smarts to do this yourself....not I..  Huh

Phil said earlier that I should convert the room where I want to place these from 110 to 240V....

Phil gave you good advice! I would suggest running a sub panel to the room where you plan to do your mining if the current panel is not close by. That way you can have short cable runs from the panel to your receptacles. If you're in the usa and use standard wiring codes you wont have to do any "converting from 110 to 220. By default 220 single phase service is run to our homes, at least that's the majority of people. by running a sub panel to the room, you have everything right there and you'll avoid running across the house if you need to flip a switch. If you end up keeping your current panel, all you need is a dipole breaker. It essentially combines two 110 lines giving you 220 power.

If you plan to run ten avalons, pretty much double my recommendation. Have two breakers installed in your current panel or the new one if you choose to have a new panel installed in your mining room.

Awesome....really appreciate the advice.....and yes to being in the US...

Yeah, I guess it depends on the shipping cost for getting the miner to your part of the country. For me, it was cheaper the other way around, but its not a huge difference.

I also got the email stating out-of-stock and replied the YES I still want the miner. Also bitched about why so long to tell us as last time I was informed of non-stock 3 days after the order - not 10.

Biggest bitch is that I also have a A721 with a dead fan and Canaan said they would ship a replacement fan with the new miner. Replied to that ticket with it now being a huge problem and I need that fan ASAP as I  am now down 2 miners: 1 because of dead fan and the new one that was supposed to be here by now...

Any incoming group buy for this ? I'm interesed.

I made offers to them in DEC of 2016 to do group buys for the 721  like I did for the model 6 about 15 months ago.  I was told they would handle   all sales from

Hong Kong/China  not from San Francisco  like I did for the model 6  So as far as I know  there will be no group buys. But basically I am fully out of the loop  maybe

you can email [email protected]  and he will let you know.

I sent my request to get the single 741  that I ordered on August 6th.

I will post how it works out.

let me see about group buys.  I started that for Openmoko back in 2008 or so.  The biggest issue was Trust between the buyers
as I would only ship to one location. So guys would have to trust the dude getting the shipment.

All Sales are handled from HK ( for small shipments)  what that means is The fulfillment house is in HK.

Lily and Jasmine sit in beijing.  I fly back and forth between Beijing and SF  every month. Bascially 3 weeks in Beijing and
three weeks in SF. I'd move to Beijing,  but as it stands I can only get a Visa for short visits.

I've just finished responding to all the folks who were waiting for the wallet address.  As soon as I get a clear picture of when
the new stock will land in HK,  we can re start the processing.

I got the email and answered back that I want a unit.  So hopefully you will send me a bill for it and an address to send it to.

I did do 2 group buys for this company via the  San Francisco company in early 2016.  I would be willing to do another one.

you want to run a 30 amp 240 volt line.  needs 10 gauge wire.

1 outlet exactly like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEMA-L6-30R-Turn-Twist-Lock-Locking-Receptacle-Outlet-30A-250V-2P-3W-L6-30-/162608545342?

Thanks Phil...that 30 amp would run 5 Units/PSU's?

Damn Phil...sorry for all the questions...but does the PSU's already come with the type of plug that fits that 3 pronged Outlet you linked to.  Or since Canaan is shipping to the states they send the normal type of plug for 110V use stateside?

read the link again

circuit  breaker to the

1) l6 -30r outlet    to
2) pdu  to
3)  power cords   to
4)  psu's to
5) avalon

you need to buy 1+2+3+4
you need an electrician to wire you box to the outlet

Phil...as for the 240 volt line....I need to have an electrician come out and convert the power for the room where I'm going to run the units from?

yes to the electrician

and read my post  again it has all the info  and links now.

I am a bit tired so I am sure about all info except the  pdu link

a 24 amp pdu is a down rated 30 amp   so you don't melt everything

so 24 x 240 = 5760 watts  and at 240volt  it will absolutely do  4 maybe 5

I have run  3 of them with 2 s-9's  and in the winter  with cooler weather it does it.  but in the summer with hotter weather I have to do 3 avalon  with 1 s-9  or I trip  the breaker

Thanks Phil....appreciate all your responses on this...yea....it's after midnight here on the east coast...have a good nite...

you can do 4  maybe 5   avalon 741's

using this psu
