I guess the next ASIC company will be a private equity firm investing +9 figures on Bitcoin ASICs development, they will probably end up controlling +51% of the network and...........

*puf*

Bitcoin is gone.

First, you underestimate how good investment could be for the FED to invest only 9 figures to destroy an experiment that has the potential to seriously undermine their hegemony.

First you said "private equity firm", and when I pointed out there is no sense investing to destroy your investment, now you mention FED's. I don't know if FED can do it and politically survive something like that, but any private equity firm would be crucified for such a move by it's shareholders. I don't want to go into political discussion if any government would/will burn taxpayers money in such manner, but there is slim chance any private company would do such a folie.

Never underestimate greed.

EDIT:

And BTW: I know that in the FED's website is stated clearly that it is not a private corporation, and that it is not for profit, etc. etc. etc. But I assume that nobody here believes that BS.

100% of the FED's shareholders are private banks. The people running the FED are just ex-CEOs of the investment banks ruling the financial system. And yes, the purpose of the FED is to generate profits for their private shareholders, and to protect the hegemony of the plutocracy. Thus, the FED is a perfect example of a private corporation with a huge interest in controlling BTC.

I think we all should start looking at the FED and ALL Central Banks from the other side of the looking glass. Their main objective has been to generate DEBT at any cost. They are behind ALL wars and all governments. Where do you generate the most debt? Inside governments and the less these governments represent the people and the more corrupt they are, the more debt gets generated.

GENERATE DEBT is their #1 priority! Engrave this in your mind. IT WILL ALL make sense if you look at our world from this prism. And of course, these people have got to go! I sincerely hope BTC will contribute to their demise.

Let me repeat what you've said: Somebody will invest +9 figures in BTC ASIC and then destroy it's own investment? Why bother to manufacture ASIC, why not burn money instead in nice beach-fire? There is 0 logic in your reasoning.

If somebody makes new powerful ASIC, let's say by using the chip nm technology reduced to 1/4 of the current one, he can realistically make enough mining power to control 51%. What would you do if you were that person? Distribute new THs's to divergent mining pools, mine honestly and dominate the market, ofc. That way you'll maximize your investment, not by destroying BTC.

First, you underestimate how good investment could be for the FED to invest only 9 figures to destroy an experiment that has the potential to seriously undermine their hegemony.

Secondly, i dont care if the entity owning +51% is honest and in good faith, because the core characteristics of Bitcoin are:

1. Trust-free
2. Decentralized

If one single entity controls +51% of the network you need to trust that entity to do the right thing, and the network is not decentralized anymore.

If you do not understand 'this logic' you need to read a little bit more about Bitcoin and think about why is such a powerful concept.

Asic miner, bfl, and avalon are at 7-8 figures already.

No, "Discus Fish" is a group of known Chinese bitcoin enthusiasts (if google translate is doing it's job). No overlap with Avalon.

There are private pools in China. This could be one.

It probably is. That doesn't mean it's Avalon "testing our units" there.

Avalon says that they do not mine bitcoins to test their units.
Avalon has never said they do not buy more wafers than it takes to make 600 units.

With all due respect Prof, what about the chips they will sell?
Maybe they should invite some people to visit their installations to clear this up.

This 40thash jump on network could be Avalons testing before sending to buyers.

600 x 68 ghash is somehow close to that.
Also person mining them is from HongKong. And miners are not full time online, it goes offline sometimes.
Maybe Yifu testing new products.

There are two new players finding a lot of blocks named "Made in China" and "七彩神仙鱼" which means "Discus Fish" and they both point to the same address.  Let's all hope this is Avalon testing our shiny new babies.

Three new miners in China, one around Shannxi Provice(?), and two around shenzhen-hongkong, and also a new big player in Japan.
Which one is ASICMINER?

Yeah, it sounds like science fiction, but do you actually realize that Yifu could have ass-raped the network back in January if he wished to, don't you?

Wrong!? Its undeniable that someone had some "fun" testing 300 machines before delivering.
But If what they say its true, that they are struggling to finish machines, how to rape the network with 20terahash only?

If they decided to go solo in January and to produce 600 machines they would have had 40TH/s. In January that was more than enough to ass-rape the network.

And it's Yifu, a student in his 20s. Wait for REALLY big players to step into this game.

How come, if they needed our money to finish the batch?

Yifu is 20s, what tasks is he responsible for in this project? Management? Support? Speaking? Other?
Maybe all other avalon team member have much more experience than that.
One thing is certain, he wanted to be the first asic manufacturer, he *almost* did it, if it wasnt for asicminer, but still a very nice acomplishment.

He could have used our money to produce the units, go solo, and ass rape the network. Good thing he is a good guy and an idealist, he may be lacking some PR skills, but we cannot say he doesn't really believe in BTC.

BTW, big players won't need our money. We will realize they stepped in when we will look at the chart below one day and we will ask ourselves.... WTF?Huh

Maybe its happening... Sad   But with that SMT line ready we are safe, 50 machines per day, right, right?
I understand profit is not the thing here, but more and more people hashing.
