All right, ETA JUNE. Someone dig up my old post saying realistically it will be in the hands of customers at the end of may. I called it.

Lots things to update.

1. We are currently investigating on the three or so shipments that have shown up badly damaged to the customers. They do no appear to be simple delivery damage: they are not dents but some corners of some of the units have been snapped off. It takes a great amount of force to snap 3mm aluminum that's been bolted down with 0.9mm screws in a box with foam padding. We are not ruling out the possibility of sabotage.

In future, when receiving an Avalon package, if there is any rattling sound coming from inside, open the package in front of DHL/EMS and inspect the inside, if there is damage immediately return the package to the sender. The receiver must submit the complaint so us, the shipper can receive this information from DHL/EMS and we can investigate.

Do not worry, even if DHL/EMS does not compensate for the damages, once you send the damaged unit back, we will send you a replacement free of charge.



2. Our new SMT equipment has arrived, it is expected to be tweaked and fully functional by the second week of May. Expect an updated gallery of our facility soon. In the mean time we are going to send out ~20 units through our new shipping channels and test the waters. We expect to go full throttle once the new SMT line comes online.



3. We also recently released a new firmware that is our most stabled version yet, it also increases the performance by about 2Gh/s and lowers idle power consumption, see the wiki for full details. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Avalon#20130419
 
p.s. few people in the Avalon team is sick, so we are moving rather slow at the moment.

To put it in perspective, if what a lot of people are saying is true and Avalon has stolen (yes stolen because they are sold so they are not avalon's to use) 200 batch II machines and used them to mine the last 16 days, the amount of the theft is large.
That would give them between 15 and 20% of the network or 540-720 btc per DAY.   That is over $1M in the last 15 days.

We all know that FriedCat pays dividends every wednesday.   I think 200 people (max since some ordered more than one) are owed this $1MM.  That is a nice dividend of $50,000 each.

No, they said they had a decision to make after batch 2. To mine or to keep selling units to fund their development ( of gen2 maybe?). Correct me if I'm wrong but that's how I read  that march newsletter.

Edit but yes, they could be mining no matter how you interpret their newsletter. Hash rate has been climibing.

I like very much the poem and all zen stuff, thanks for posting, that does not make it easy because we all know they are mining, its bright clear, they said this themselves in the last newsletter they would do it a few days and that would help get the machines we funded done. Totally comprehensible, they are working for us, avalon exists because of we all here funded Icarus, Lancelot *both pre-mined and delivery with very very little delay* and now we have to wait the new shiny hot air blowing toy.

BTC is stronger, the network safer, no one is complaining about the success of this enterprise, but the full-of-rigmarole-newsletters, delay and repetitive schedule missing --those guys really enjoyd the holidays-- let alone the language avalon public man uses to communicate with their costumers(sic) should have been very different from the start. Some people should visit more the ASICMINER thread and learn how to deal with the people that make big projects possible. Basically, when you have money and fame you should at least try to be a gentleman too. I miss the days we could deal direct with the great ngzhang and have a straight conversation. But what can we do? Facts of life, facts of life.

I think detachment is a skill that us westerns find difficult; especially the detachment from outcomes. 

They may be having issues with their new process, but I have full faith that Avalon will continue along their path of providing high quality products in a timely manner (at least compared to their competition  ).

Read some books on zen, my friend.  It may or may not put you at ease, but you will likely identify with eastern culture a little better.  I am not saying you need to become buddhist, but open your mind to other ways a little bit.  To you, this is about profit and "me me me", to them it is something different.  I am not saying Avalon couldn't provide a simple update.  We'd all like that.  But if you read into BitSyncom's comments, especially in the thread where he and Kano went at it, he is simply not going to post updates which will feed the trolls until the last possible moment.  If you can't find some comfort in the fact others have received theirs successfully, then find some in this:  You are on their terms, not the other way around.  Badmouthing them will get you nowhere, but patience may get you somewhere.

兄台, 我理解您的感受, 也明白您问题的含义. 但我在此拜托您, 一定要忍耐, 不要有进一步的过激言行. 因为, 会有太多的人受到牵连. 我不清楚您订购的是第几批avalon, 我订购的是第一批avalon, 到目前为止我尚且有8台机器没有收到, 所以, 我受的"委屈"比您的更为深重, 我尚且能忍受, 您一定也能做到.

换个角度考虑, ngzhang是智慧人, 他若只考虑挣钱的话, 完全有更为简单安全的方法: 把顾客的预付款一概退回去, 用自己生产的avalon自己挖矿卖, 这不是挣钱最快的方法吗? 而且, 还会有谁有资格对他指指点点?

我估计, 目前发货延迟可能是元器件供货渠道不顺畅, 或正在安装调试新的生产线. 所以, 我希望大家都再耐心等待. 也许下一周有顺丰快递送货到您家门也不是没有可能.

And no newsletter. It's starting to get scaring.

You know what my biggest hope is? A crash to 50-10$, so that i can buy cheap coins and forget about the ones the avalon should mine.
