My wallet is synched, however on the
Overview page I have:
Host srv.bellacoin.com not found
I have the same message when I click on
Trade or
BellaCoin Pools.
Can anyone fix the code so that the new pool
https://bella.suprnova.cc is used instead, and provide updated wallets? It would be very nice if we could connect to the pool and mine through the wallet.
As I understand it, here is a brief history of the coin, looking forward.
The coin was originally made by the same person who made neoscoin, I believe. Both are pretty fair coins. He apparently stepped back from both coins but seems to still have some online presence.
AndroidCrypto built a chess app for the coin and now there seems to be an ico of some sort trying to develop that chess idea.
---
Looking ahead, and I've messaged briefly with AndroidCrypto, there is no doubt that a chess coin has a lot of potential. The question is how to develop it.
The problems you mention
Host srv.bellacoin.com not found
and so on, are of course because the wallet hasn't been updated in a while.
At this point the coin has a chess program that uses bellacoin, a Googleplay app but an old wallet.
*A chess coin can be developed a lot of different ways. In my opinion, and please disagree if you want, the best would be a wallet and chess game that incorporated a history of games played into the block chain, assigned some 'value' to a player's history, and allowed people to challenge other players, for a few coins, through the wallet.
The features you are concerned about, mining, pool info, trading info etc have no place really on a practical real world currency's wallet. Today maybe 90% of coin people are miners, but soon it will be much lower. If a coin is going to actually seek a real world use, like a chess coin, it cannot cater to miners.
So instead of fixing things that might make miners happy but will not help the coin, it might be better to fix the wallet, incorporate new features etc that will encourage adoption and use by non miners, and if somebody wants to mine they should do it discreetly.
My suggestion would be that anybody interested in making a good chess coin discuss for a bit the features the wallet should have, including how it should interact with the chess app, and once the ecosystem of app, blockchain and wallet are thought out in a way that seems good, then those of us who have some bellacoin chip in to a bounty fund to pay some programmer to make the wallet what it should be.
There are endless possibilities, starting from scratch. It might be cool, for example, to make some kind of colored coins, like if a person wins some bellacoin in a chess game then those won coins have some additional property or use. etc
add
One important point about any chess coin is that it cannot become a gambling coin, for several reasons, including the fact that there are very cheap programs that can play as well as grand masters. So if you bet money on a game you will lose if you play honestly. A solution might be to let the game be used to set up real world matches. People would play to win games, maybe colored coins, but not to make money. If a person had a good history of playing on the blockchain then they could play for real winnings in an environment where cheating was more difficult.
I see your point concerning mining and I do agree with you when you say that a wallet should not be used for mining. I was just stating that since the BellaCoin wallet offers the possibility of mining then it should communicate with the right server, if this involves a simple enhancement why not do it (for now) ...
to give them some thoughts.
