Right now I try to trade in short period of time. But if I want to invest in something for a long period of time I prefer to form portfolio main part of which consists of each type of these assets, Bitcoin and Ethereum. Because in such way I can diversify my risks. But also I prefer to invest about 20-25% of my portfolio into BCH, IOTA, ICX, ZEC, HSR, XLM. I don't like small altcoins. But right now I just trade on "big" coins with USD.
There is no best coin to invest in... All coins have their days and seasons....
Better still, visit cmc and select a list... Spread your investment. That's the best thing to do

The all time favourite cryptocurrencies for all the people in this field is bitcoin there is no other currency will be stable or more trustable like this Bitcoin so my opinion is the best currency for long term investment is bitcoin only.

No other than bitcoins of course there is not other than bitcoins who are much greater investment but if ever that you want to invest into altcoins then ethereum is also a great altcoins and there are a lot of great altcoins out there but not as great as bitcoins does but still a great investment. Litecoins are also one of them so it is up to you what coin ot pick.
It's good to invest these down cryptos, but the best coin for long term for me is bitcoin, it's my number 1 choice for long term investment and the second is ethereum good for long term investment as well.
