Will see, unexpected benching Haaland maybe a problem for those who have him in squad. But I still think he will play because Pep definitely wants to win this game and despite all his ghostings in big games, Haaland is a big trump card.
Incidentally, despite his incredible statistics, in the game with Inter Haaland buried his chances to surpass Ronaldo (who is currently the champion in this indicator) in the speed of reaching 100 goals scored for the club. Now he can only repeat it (105 games).
No way he is benching Haaland against Arsenal. That is the most important duel for City this season, especially considering results from past season. Haaland is playing full 90 minutes in this one unless he gets injured or points become secured for one of the teams.

You don't have to convince me, after I calculated the cost of replacing him (I wanted to replace him with a benchkeeper for 4 million and take a good midfielder), I left him in the team  Grin
It's a shame this competition isn't very flexible - due to the cost of team modifications, it's better to choose a long-term project and sit on your butt. I'd like more dynamics.

But it seems like every big game Haaland leaves with zero goals scored? The game against the main competitor should be big enough for Haaland not to score a goal   Grin
Overall, I think that a 0-0 scoreline would suit this game very well - both teams like to control the ball and will do so, there won't be time to score goals  Grin

Arsenal will play very defensively against top teams like City so it suits them that they will have almost no xG in this match.

But now after the Inter I wonder if Haaland will even play in the next match. Because he played the full 90 minutes and is getting no rest. Only Pep would do such a thing, and his snarky press conference did hint to benching players randomly.

I believe If Haaland isn't going to play in any matchday there is an obligation from Guardiola to likely make it know before hand, while I don't also see him being on the bench either, I believe Haaland specifically isn't anyone's biggest worry for this round rather the biggest worry would be Salah as captain, with Watkins getting back to his best, Solanke is now fully available too, or should it be Cole Palmer ?

Haaland, as said numerous time already, will likely have a parallel effect across boards, what happens outside Haaland is what everyone is concerned about, especially when there is a week like this where Haaland is supposedly faced with a tough fixture and plethora of captaincy candidates are available.

In practice, that is going to be difficult because HAL 9000 has scored in every single match this season, so far.

The problem with not captaining Haaland is that most people always captain him. He's statistically in the top 2 players per points won, this season he's the leading player, so going against him carries a significant risk.

If you get it right you will catch up a bit, but more often than not you'll fall further behind.
If you captain Haaland and he blanks, maybe 1 or 2 people will catch up to you. If you captain somebody else and Haaland has a good game, 10 people surpass you.

Haaland is a brilliant goalscorer and maybe he will have 1 goal or an assist but I don't think he will score twice. Despite the fact that Odegaard is missing and Arsenal will have little time to rest and today's away game against Atalanta, Arsenal's defense is excellent. But these are very contradictory arguments because if you look at it from a statistical angle, Haaland can be a good captain because last spring in the same conditions Man City thrashed Arsenal 4:1.  Roll Eyes

It is more likely to be a 0-0 snoozefest like the last time they played each other.

I guess congratulations in advance to everyone who has an Arsenal defender.
If we can hold Manchester City to a goalless draw, that's more points for whoever has our defenders and goalkeeper because Arsenal have easier fixtures after the Manchester City game where we could keep clean sheets until GW9, where we face Liverpool, GW10, we face Newcastle, and GW11, we face Chelsea. Until those fixtures, Arsenal defenders and even Goalkeeper will be good points.

In practice, that is going to be difficult because HAL 9000 has scored in every single match this season, so far.

I don't think that Haaland at 15 mil is a must this season. He started really well but City had an easy fixtures list.

The problem starts if you do pay that 15 mil and then don't captain him. Everybody does and your captain choice must make a difference too, which Salah didn't do for me in the last round.
That's 10+ points difference there only in 1 round and that shit adds up fast.

I was thinking about the value of the players and it seems to me that he is too cheap. The cheapest player (who will probably bring few points) costs 4 million. Haaland is only 4 times more expensive, but he will bring much more than x4 points compared to weak players. And if we take into account the bonus for captaincy and the fact that he is stable, then in my opinion the real price of Haaland is 35-40 million. In fact, the whole game comes down to choosing a goalkeeper who will keep a clean sheet. Captain Haaland without question. With current prices, you can choose a couple more stars and hope for them.

Proud of Arsenal, we found a way to win even from our disadvantaged position, and that is how big teams do. Next game against Manchester City, not sure we will be very lucky.
Mikel Arteta is a genius the approach he employed in winning Tottenham in that game underscores how much of a good coach he is. For the Manchester City game against his side next weekend I think this game result would decide alot for both teams in the title race. it going to be a daunting and tough one on Arteta because City would obviously be in control of the midfield a strong position for them and that will create much pressure on Arsenal, unlike Ange Postecoglou, Pep  Gardiola is a tactician that knows very well how to breakthrough proving defense line to find the back of the net. We'll see what Arteta decision would be on that faithful day.
I will agree to that. Arteta showed significant brilliancy in the approach last match. Next week he won't be lucky enough to escape from Manchester City unless his injured players are back on the field. Arsenal might have a good defense but it is no match against Manchester City with Haaland and De Bryune on the field. Also, I dont want to be too sure of Manchester City winning because anything could be possible. Arsenal has a good goalkeeper and strong defenders. Even if Manchester City wins the game, the goal margin won't be different. And who said Arsenal can't score in the game? Of course, Arsenal will score in the game.

KDB is always turned on when he plays Arsenal; he is more likely to get the most points from that game.

That game will not be a good game to captain Haaland.
Something we could agree on though., Haaland is likely going to be silenced, there wouldn’t be many goals but, Arsenal could lose and that’s it. Doku would be getting an assist in this one, KDB is sure to try some long range shots as most of the crosses to Haaland wouldn’t come off successfully, then we’ve got Foden on a side and Gundogan to aid the team do the most.

I don’t think even Arsenal is going to be a difficult fixture for Manchester City. They would be looking to get points from that game for Rivalry’s sake and that Viking, nothing is getting him patched up.
Arsenal's defensive duo Gabriel and Saliba successfully kept him mute last season in both the home and away games. Arsenal's defensive line also looked very good against Tottenham; they kept Solanke occupied the whole of the game, and Tottenham could not find a way even though they had lots of attacking chances. Arsenal can do it again this season; keep Haaland from scoring even if we still end up losing the game (because any player can score for City). KDB is always turned on when he plays Arsenal; he is more likely to get the most points from that game.

That game will not be a good game to captain Haaland.

Problem is, when you look at City every fixture looks easy. Granted they now have Arsenal which is though but after that it is all easy for the robot.
Newcastle (bad defense this season but could be considered though)
Fulham H (conceding goals and chances against anybody)
Wolves A (Chelsea scored 6 here)
Southampton H (maybe easiest fixture in the season)
Bournemouth A
Brighton A

If he isn't injured he is in my team and captain in all of those except against arsenal. It is actually a blessing when you don't have to think about stuff like captaincy every week  Grin

I don’t see that coming, he doesn’t engage much aside from little contests to result in anything serious.
£15 kept him off my radar and I eventually bought him at £15.2. After loosing points to the GWs.
