If you are a day trader go for altcoins but today i think today altcoins loosing value but i don't think so because korea will launch the biggest exchange that will be partnering with bittrex UPbit.
It is better to invest in bitcoins because it is sure to increase and you will not lose. But altcoins are also good because they have the potential to rise in price. But your opponent there is your emotion because if you can not resist it you can carry it and maybe you can do something that you did not care about

My vote is also for bitcoin. Bitcoin is the father of digital currencies and I strongly believe that by the end of 2017, it is going to be at price more than 5 thousand dollars. Altcoins are just shitty coins, they are both wastage of money and time. Not even a single altcoins is able to stand next to bitcoin. Bitcoin is the only survival of the crypto market. Bitcoin is even better than gold now a day.

i'm a newbie too, i want to invest a little Altcoin but it's so risk, i think bitcoin is still safer
It depends on what you want to do. Long term investment or day trading .In my opinion you can invest in both bitcoin and alts but be aware about the basic principle 1) when bitcoin goes up altcoins goes down 2) when bitcoin goes down altcoin goes up 3) when bitcoin is steady altcoins goes up. Volatility is also a factor but with high volatility if you know basic chart reading there is a possibility of high profit but high risk also. Overall since bitcoin has already establish itself it's the safest and you know that it's have more room to grow.

Both bitcoin and altcoin is good but I think bitcoin is the best because I believed that started with bitcoin. Bitcoin is more common and more easy to deal with. Like me, I just knew altcoin because of bitcoin.

If you buy Bitcoin now for a long term investment - IE you do not want to sell for 2 years. Its probably better to not buy Bitcoin since after Bitcoin gold is released the price will probably fall again as the majority of people buy back into the ALT market. So your strategy would be to buy after this when the price drops.
To buy up bitcoin right now to profit on bitcoin gold - probably means your strategy is too late. In other words you should have been buying bitcoin 2 months ago for this event.
The best strategy for now is to probably wait or maybe buy up the cheap ALT's.

In my opinion, it is much better to buy altcoins for a short term then for a long term are Bitcoin, Nem, Maid, Rlc, Bay, Waves, ad Adex and ethereum those are good for holding in a long term. Because, they have good market volume in the market everyday.
I don't know if i am correct because i am not an expert and not a trader for now.., maybe someday!

What are you looking for? More profit or more stability? Ready to take big looses and compensate with big gains? In the end the risk/reward will be the same for both.

No other choice is as profitable then bitcoin, bitcoin has developed itself so profitable that anyone can invest into it blindly, bitcoin allow it user to start making profit from the very next moment he owe it and the time of count starts, and no one know any altcoin everyone is talking about bitcoin because it had change lives of people and it revolutionized the world, 
I have invested in both Bitcoins and altcoins, although by net worth more than 80% of my portfolio is solely made up of Bitcoin. I don't have anything against the altcoins. Some of them (especially Bitcoin Cash, Byteball, Monero.etc) looks quite promising. But I don't want to take too much risk, by investing a large part of my money on altcoins.

I think that you should invest in both Bitcoin and altcoins as altcoin like ethereum, MONERO and litecoins have higher rates of growth than Bitcoin and Bitcoin is more popular and stable than all altcoins. This diversification can help you earn more profits in less time.

Altcoins are very cheap right now, most of them are in red numbers because of the last bitcoin crash of the last week. So it is better to re-stock your portfolio of some cheap altcoins right now, it is a great opportunity. I would buy some, but i dont have money to spend in more altcoins, i think that i have enough right now.

For me ita better if you have bitcoin and if you have altcoins . Hold your bitcoins for longterm and for sure you will esrn a lot of profit. You can buy also altcoins and choosing right altcoin maybe gives you high profit that helps to you to grow your bitcoin and those bitcoin that you earn convert to money to get a lot of money. But its up to you if you invest in altcoins or bitcoin.

Bitcoin is very good for long term investment because it's more stable compared with altcoins and tokens. There are also some promising altcoins which could give you more profit than bitcoin. The problem here is finding the right altcoin because there are tons of them out there. If you want to be in more safe side, you can choose bitcoin or you can diversify your money into bitcoin and nice altcoins like ethereum, waves etc.
