Bitcoin can overtake and become global virtual currency, but fiat will still be used as main currency. It can't be replaced.

Until now bitcoin has worked well. Bitcoin is still in a good condition, I mean bitcoin is not at a critical stage and is heading towards destruction. So, I think the bitcoin's readiness to become a global currency still exists.

There are some people who are just wanting bitcoin to be global currency so that all of the transactions are made online but it can't be happen. Fiat will always exist. Both will exist in harmony.

Currently bitcoin has been used as a payment instrument. I think bitcoin only has one last step so that it can be used as a currency. Of course that is not an easy thing, considering a lot of resistance and opposition to bitcoin. But it seems that bitcoin still has a high probability of becoming a global currency
I think it will be difficult to make and legalize bitcoin as the global currency. A bitcoin system that is still very complex, anonymity and uncontrolled by anyone makes it difficult to be accepted by banks and the government, furthermore it will certainly be difficult to legalize it as a global currency.
bitcoin is suitable to be a common currency, but the very free level of anonymity makes many governments wary of various violations, I am amazed that until now bitcoin has not been challenged which means such a full ban, but we need to keep monitoring because this currency can end up being anything and we can only guess.

Chances are of course there are, because many people are now talking about cryptocurrency and they plan to invest here so we can say that it has become a global currency but it will not replace fiat money. If to be philosophic none of the currencies can provide you with a 100% freedom. You will still depend on a specific software, wallets, etc. But definitely with a cryptocurrency, you have more freedom without tracking of your actions (transactions etc.)

Bitcoin to be a global currency is difficult than it seems because Bitcoin isn't regulated or accepted as a legit currency any where in the world so many consider common laws and regulations doesn't apply for Bitcoin which is why in world some countries and individuals consider that as a illegal currency so to achieve it's target as a global currency seems little difficult in the present and if Bitcoin is going to do that even in the future above points should be fulfilled properly
The fact that through internet connection bitcoin is available all over the world makes it global and gives opportunity to all nations in the world to use it and that is the beauty of bitcoin.
