Read your post, I re-think about the time I still need to claim faucet and earn 10-20k satoshi (it that time, the price of Bitcoin very cheap!). But currently, some people also like you, want to get high profit after investment while do not know where the source for that profit!
I will choose both. Bitcoin will be my main investment, while Ethereum will be my second investment. I will always choose Bitcoin as the number one cryptocurrency and the number one investment because we all know how great the development of Bitcoin prices. But the Bitcoin fee is now very large and difficult to do transactions. Therefore I chose to invest to Ethereum also because Ethereum fee not as much as Bitcoin. Ethereum prices will always go up and I hope to follow in the footsteps of Bitcoin. Actually both are pretty good, but the most important is how much money we can invest. The more money we make, the bigger our profit.

I feel bitcoin is too expensive to invest in atm, i was close to buying 5BTC back in September but thought it was expensive then (what a mistake)
I know it could still rise a lot more but with what i have available to invest, isn't gonna be life changing for me.
So I'm looking to invest and hodl altcoins and a lot of people seem to have faith in ETH even though the network had had problems recently.
Anyone think it still has good potential to rise a lot?

I can say that bitcoin is the king in the cryptocurrency but if you would like to maximize your profit I suggest you to have a research on different altcoin.
I dont say that you wont have great profit on bitcoin but I know atleast there is one coin that can give you 1000 times return.

Because it all started and the price of it is higher than ETH. Without a doubt, ETH is also a good coin to hold if you want it to keep as your long term investment.It's price moved quickly before 2017 ends.
Last quarter of it before it has reached and broken the wall of $1,000. It was only around $400 but look at it's current price, that was a quick pump and I guess it's stable there already.

Another point in ETH's favour obviously is its cheaper price - naive point but human psychology matters..
to invest at this time should prefer the ethereum because its worth more actively market the coins. In addition, ethereum also rated better than bitcoin for the future.

Imagine if you invest all your money into bitcoin or ethereum on that day, you will gain a huge profits today because both bitcoin and ethereum are on high price right now especially ethereum, the price is up like 2x from the original price. On the other hand bitcoin is going down right now.

Bitcoin is good but ethereum is better right now. Buy ethereum and bitcoin cause next month they will surely go up. Bitcoin might go back to $20k and ethereun will reach the new ath.
What makes you say that? Do you have anything to back that up?
I agree that ETH will continue to steal market share from BTC and therefore cause BTC prices to decrease, but to say it will hit all time highs without anything to back it up is just absurd. Also, there's no way BTC will reach 20k$ in the next month.
Bitcoin is good but ethereum is better right now. Buy ethereum and bitcoin cause next month they will surely go up. Bitcoin might go back to $20k and ethereun will reach the new ath.
for now, if I have capital for investment, I will choose ethereum (ETH). there is news there will be hardfork (HF) ethereum (ETH) on 19 January, I think the price of ethereum will rise ahead of HF later.
IMHO, ETH has much more going for it due to its ability to launch your own coins and apps on its platform. But it's always prudent to diversify and BTC will probably always have a place as (at least) the funding currency for alts.
I think Ethereum is more trustable. The ETH price keep rising and never go down. Just like bitcoin in 2017. Now BTC price is keep staying the same but ETH is going high and high without stopping. So i will take ETH.
If you can't afford to invest in atleast one bitcoin i suggest go for ethereum since you can't get the 100% gain if you just bought a fraction of it that is why altcoin are the most effective way of earning in cryptocurrency.

recently a lot of people are switching from Bitcoin to ethereum but yet I think this causes the ETH network to become overloaded making it difficult for us to make transactions.
