Loads of news coming out about the UCL final in Paris, what a fiasco, they should just punish France and never let them host another final.
Anyway though I'm also reading that the next season is going to be the last in the current format.
I don't think we can blame everything on France, though they did seem to handle it badly there are likely a lot of factors involved here. Everyone is telling a different story and I'm sure there's truth in bits of many of them but many sources also have their biases. From what I understand is fans - could have been Liverpool, Madrid or even neutrals - were storming the stadium, many climbing over the fences to get in without tickets. It seems that some fans had probably bought fake tickets from scammers as well, so that probably added a whole other issue with very annoyed fans having paid exorbitant amounts to touts for fake tickets having to be turned away from the ground and I'm sure they were reluctant to leave as I would be. There are lots of videos of many people storming the grounds trying to get in but it's not clear exactly what sort of fans they were though. In some of the videos I've watched about it it's claimed a lot of people storming the grounds were actually African immigrants which could be true, though there are obviously biases on both sides. The racists and anti-immigrant mouthpieces will jump on that but on the flip-side the cowardly mainstream media often ignore the facts and the politicians try to downplay the situation and blame others. It seems the police were very heavy handed but in these sorts of situations the police politely asking them to refrain or disperse usually doesn't cut it so further measures are needed. With that being said, this sort sort of stuff happens whenever pissed up football fans go aboard (and it applies to all clubs and nationalities) and lets not forget ticketless Man United fans stormed their own ground a season or two ago which also caused a delay in the fixture. I'm sure there will be a full investigation but regardless of the outcome hopefully everyone can learn from it and further measures are put in place to stop things like this from happening in the future.
For sure it's not all of France's blame, but they did handle it badly and the quotes I read were what I would say was almost racist. It's always wrong to blame the fans (even if it's their fault I guess) but in this case in the pictures I saw that older men and young children were crying and well, even if I only saw 1 picture it was bad, this was many pictures and many accounts.
I also saw leea posted in SB thread about some video posted by locals sneaking into the stadium for fun and laughing at the fans stuck outside, if it's the same video I saw, the video clearly shows the guy doing it, going under turnstile and laughing and police don't do anything, they just focus on the red shirts.
So I think the people you mentioned could be the same as this African immigrant guy (who speaks French) and he is also seen in other videos where he says he is in Syria, firing of AK47s and laughing.
So French, not clear which side supports, but just there to do trouble and they were being let in.
I always say when something goes wrong, it's not one person's fault. But the Paris people wanted to host the final, they didn't prepare enough, and you pay for the rights and the responsibility.
Anyway yes, terrible terrible, they should have let us Barca fans host it so we could boo Real the whole game lol.
