So who else thinks Juventus 3/1 ML is great value?

Sure, Villareal's done really, really well, to reach this stage after finishing 7th in La Liga last season (and in 6th now actually so we know they're not really a different or better outfit than they were last).

Just to remember, this is the team that forced a draw to United and won their CL ticket on penalties.

That good enough to take them to UCL Qs? I don't think so.
I don't know what to bet on this match. My initial idea was to play 1x on Villareal but I expected Juve to be favorites. This way there is no value in 1X and I don't intend to play on Juve since I don't believe they can win. This smells like low scoring draw to me and then Juve will win the second leg 1:0 and pass trough.

Could be worth some money to play under on Chelsea game though, but since i don't play unders, just tennis for me today.

Halab got the spot on result, but most of us have to thank Mbappe for never giving up, I have to say this was a big waste for Real Madrid to play Benzema and risk him getting even more injured when they couldn't give him the service he deserves.

Not sure to be happy Real lost and looks like they can't progress or to be sad that Messi had a poor game (by his standards).

City thrashing Sporting, no big surprise we all scored 1 point. Anybody who even got a Close score would have been amazing.
Why do you say Real can't progress? Minimal loss away from home is not a bad result. PSG is famous for strange second games. Just remember their encounters with Barca in last couple of seasons. It will be a very different game in second leg.

City proved their dominance and difference in quality. This one is more than over.

Yeah, I took a bet on Real, couldn't resist. And if they're also 4/1 at home, it's a bet I take any day. I always believe that experience counts in Champions League and no one knows how to play it better than Real. I might even fancy a Modric goal if the odds are right. He wasn't very adventurous in Paris but he tends to get some freekick sniffs and he's long due one.

I actually played 2 ways parlay with Liverpool tonight, so at least I was left alive too as I was honestly thinking it'd end up nil-nil. Mbappe was troublesome all night long but I felt like he tried to bring Messi into the fold a lot, should have taken on more shots or drove into the box.

City had the easiest tie of all, no disrespect to Sporting but they're the lowest performers in almost every attribute among the last 16. Still, credit to City, I guessed 3-0 and still got same points as everyone!

Less than 72 hours to put in picks, don't forget gentlemen! My bets go way, way back as soon as markets opened and I got Liverpool at 27/10 -- which is great as odds have dropped to 2/1. I guess the pick of matches is PSG-Real though, I've watched the french play 2 league games and it's really unimpressive -- so if Benzema plays, I think it's a no-brainer.

African Cup will only affect us in England, thankfully. What a horrible month to look at. But I guess it's time for Jota and Origi to really really step up, or some of our kids. Gulp!
What about Firmihno? Is he at least supposed to get back from injury in time? He will be very important part of Liverpool build up when they are missing Salah and Mane. Not exactly the right thread for this but we have all seen how City looks even without full backs and with Sterling and Jesus on the bench yesterday. It will be though for the rest to keep up.

Missed this comment! As it turned out, Origi was the one who continued to be injured (but this week should make the bench), and we've got a lot of people coming back too, not least Elliot.

Firmino and Jota indeed pulled us through -- Bobby scored in cup game and not in EPL but he gets a chance today to score against Burnley -- he hasn't failed since he joined Liverpool, cool fact. He's been playing so well, without getting on scoresheet, personally the best of the front three sans Salah/Mane, I really really can't see how we play without him pulling the strings.

It is not really possible for draw to get easier in later stages of knockout stages when playing competition like Champions League, this was last chance to get easier opponent if you ask me. Liverpool should end up on top of Inter unless that first games are played during African Cup of nations. Did not check it but I believe usually CL continues mid February and African cup should be over before that.

Inter is a good squad but I don't see them surprising a better team.

Fair enough. I guess I think of a really small sample size like when we were meeting Porto in QFs or Roma in Semis a year before that, for example... I sort of wish we'd met bigger teams first. Roma before Real Madrid? Prefer Real Madrid before Roma.

Or as in the season we won it, Barca before Spurs.

Again. Totally no disrespect to all these teams but Porto reaching QF, Roma reaching SF, and Spurs reaching finals... these are good teams but they all overperformed to get there. And overperforming teams are "easier" for Liverpool to overcome IMO.

KO tourneys are weird for me, when it comes to my team. I'd rather them meet the giants first, and then ease down later. Feel like if they get easier teams early, they sort of get a bit careless when it matters near the end. That said, Inter are still Italian Champions. We've already dispatched Spanish champs, so I'm happy to meet Italians next. It'll be exciting, for sure. Another Milan team. But we should be too good for them. Klopp's too experienced to take this for granted though!

what do you think about Inter chances against Liverpool, is there any?

I might have said this before but I always want Liverpool to meet the strongest teams first. KO tourneys are weird for me, when it comes to my team. It's shit show to be honest, and everyone would begin to doubt the credibility of the most famous club side tournament, there have always been doubt about the draws being fixed to suit Uefa's wants but even if I'm always against those opinions, I don't think I'd even want to get in such conversations for the foreseeable future, the only question that comes begging is how could they have made such a mistake huh ??! And didn't even realise until how long ?..

Inter is definitely a tough fixture for Liverpool, and based on both sides current form, Inter do stand a chance if you're ask me, however there's still plenty of time for things to change before February.

Yeah same. I've seen videos of past draws where you'd have to be a hardcore denier to say it wasn't rigged heh. But this one, seriously, if I were making the draws I'd know immediately which teams can't meet which, "strange" no one caught the error.

Would def have loved United-PSG... but the way the ties look, it should be easy progress for Bayern, Chelsea, City. So if Liverpool pass, chances are we meet one of those, and then of course Real/PSG.

Shame, it's not that I think Villareal suck that badly, but they're going to be the Porto of seasons past in the last 16... a free pass to the QFs for whomever meets them. Happy to have them prove me wrong, unless they meet Liverpool heh.

Juventus is a great chance to prove you wrong, don't you think
if any team could see themselves out from Villareal that is Juve

regarding draw and everything, it is really a shame that this happened, not worth a comment, but PSG and Real in 1/16 is a winner for City and Liverpool, one already down

So what do you guys think about new CL draw after they managed to connect United - Villarreal together in the first try. I am reading the pairs of the first draw and wondering how that could have happened and thinking well it must have been a rule change they are not that incompetent Smiley

Of course UEFA immediately shifted the blame on outside contractor.

I am sure Perez will have something more to say on this topic, since Benfica sounds much better than PSG for first knockout stage game. Now one of these 2 clubs that consider anything other then title a disappointment will be out in first round.

Atalanta almost made comeback, but scored two goals, and that was it
interesting match, it could go to draw in the end, but that would also send Villareal to next round, and Atalanta to Europa league

two Spanish teams are out after group stage, Barca and Sevilla will continue to Europa league, and Sevilla is having more chances there

It's crazy to see that no one even from the pool gave Villarreal a chance , and it's been a complete massacre.

3 unanswered goals and there's still over 30 minutes to play, I would have anticipated a draw to be the worse too, but it's been an entirely different outcome, a goal now from Atalanta would at least settle my BTTS bet.

Well they got their answer in the second half, but I can't see them getting so lucky again. I'm still a tiny bit upset Atalanta didn't go through, but at least they get quite a bit of quality joining them in Europa hmm?

Atalanta at home against Villarreal who passes with a draw? I would never give Villarreal a chance for a win in a game like this. If they are playing again tomorrow with same line ups I would again go with Atalanta.

At least I had BTTS on my ticket as well and that went well. I am thinking this pool is a bust for me anyway so no harm done.

Maybe I would have done the same, but we probably ignored the fact that Atalanta are not the same team they're currently are in the Serie A in Europe, and they barely won a game against Young Boys the Group's underdog, even a draw wouldn't have been enough for them.

The round of 16 is still vital for the pool, only thereafter does it get really tougher to chase after anyone.

Well, guys, there it is. I now say goodbye to watching my team play in Champions League and say hello to new friends in Europa League  Cheesy

In the end it was too much for 2 things to happen. First, for Besiktas to lose or even draw. Second, and more important, to ask Bayern to lose when they've won every game so far.
After watching Barca yesterday I am afraid for them even in Europa League. For instance, we have Napoli - Leicster today and one of those teams will not progress trough and I feel like both would win against Barca at the moment. Low point for the club definitely, I expected much more fight from them yesterday.

Atalanta - Villareal should be played later today so we will get that final club in knockout stage. Chelsea and PSG in runners up pot will give us at least 2 great games immediately.

I'm not even reluctant to agree with you here. I know fans and supporters have to stand behind their teams and this is no question for me. I'm always with my club no matter what. But I've also always been able to be truthful about our situation and I even actually expected or wanted this collapse to happen 2 seasons ago when Messi was still with us. It took a really long time and we delayed it, and now the price is heavier to pay.

Napoli and Leicester? Absolutely better than Barca now. Not more talented, simply better run and better form and training and mentality.

Now tonight left to decide who's the last team to enter. Sorry Yellow Submarine, but Atalanta needs to go through to make it interesting.
