Sorry for the exit, Hhampuz. I actually caught a last minute hedging bet on Ajax, which I hated myself for as soon as I placed it, but was glad at the final whistle. I think I mentioned to tokeweed earlier I'd love to meet Barca and Juventus en route to winning (if we do) but you know what, meeting Ajax is pretty cool too, wouldn't that be a wonderful final of young and hungry players? That would be an incredible final to watch but I tell you what, we may have 4 swashbuckling semifinals to watch! With Juventus out, there is no more defensive-minded team left.

Ajax total football vs either City's slick possession game or Spur's deadly ripostes.
Barca's precision vs either Liverpool's counterpressing or Porto's exploiting of wide areas to exploit space.

Everything's mouthwatering however it turns out.

Sad

Sorry man.  Sad  I was (half) rooting for Juve cos Ronaldo.  Would love to see him play vs Messi in the CL that isn't an El Classico match.  I really thought it was their time.

All the media praise Messi and Coutihno today but almost nobody is talking about Barca defense. That is the part that impressed me mostly. Man Utd is a mess when dedending and it is not such a big feat to score 4 goals in 180 against them. On the other hand a fact that Barca kept 2 clean sheets vs. Man attack is much more impressive. Granted, barca keeper looks unbeatable at the moment.

We should have nice games in semi finals, can't wait for them.

^  That usually goes without saying.  But how much did you get the -1.5 bet for?  I'd go that far if the line is close to 3 and it has to be at home.  Grin

I have a good feeling about tonight for a big win of Barca so I will take a bet of -1.5. They won 1-0 at Old Trafford and it was their typical slow game so I have confidence it will be different with their own fans and t heirown stadium,,, of course United have champions blood in their manager so he will ensure their team plays so well that it will be tough for everyone. For me, t heyneed to get 1 goal and then continue attacking. 3-1 for Barcelona! Messi+Suarez+Coutinho:) I cannot wait for my team tomorrow though!

^  Yup.  I used to not really think of the whole Messi vs Ronaldo thing.  But the Euro Championship 2016 really showed how Ronaldo is better as a player overall than Messi is.  I mean at least for me...  Smiley

Ronaldo too strong!

"No single player is bigger than Real" Lmao.

FWIW, Barcelona & Liverpool are looking quite strong for the title.. It'll be interesting for sure!

I hate streaming services because they have a tendency to work perfectly when you don't need them or it is CL game between Sparta Prague and Anderlecht (no disrespect intended to mentioned clubs). Then comes CL finals (or some other high interest game) and it starts too work poorly or doesn't work at all. Happened to me many times even with paying streaming services.

I made a decision to treat myself with best possible sport package in my country and write it of as a part of betting investment. It adds about 10$ to my monthly bill. My bets usually range around 50$ daily, so it was no brainier for me since it definitely helps me with my betting choices.
True about streaming services. Imagine stream vreaking down during UCL final penalty shootout. I can't imagine how I would react if it would happen to me. $10 for some great channels per month is really cheap price. Unfortunately in my country sports channels show limited number of football matches, so I don't subscribe it. For example on UCL group stage matchday they show only 2 matches at the same time. So, now I'm using IPTV - for just $2 I get lot of sports channels in HD or even 4K quality.

Back to the topic, not many games left in UCL, @Trofo is going to win, no doubts. Now I'm in 6th place, but I'm just few points from Top 3, so everything is still possible for me. Well, as I expected, I perform much better here than in EPL pool Cheesy

Wtf?  4K TV with 'only HD' and you're sad?  Rofl...  I'm just happy streaming games over Kodi for free on my lap top.  Dropped my cable subscription over 5 - 6 years ago and never looked back since.

Well done to the 5 of us predicting a Spurs upset! Trofo's still way in front though and with only only 11 games left, the equivalent of 1 week of games, I don't think anyone can catch you buddy!

I put in 2-0, strange no one tried for 1-0 actually, but I suppose on the evidence of the night's performance (if not the scoreline), this was a game City threw away. Son scores first CL goal at new stadium. Loris saves a penalty. I won my parlay so I'm not complaining at all!

My man LFC is probably readying to go to the match now with an early dinner. My sadness is that I have to try and watch this from mobile as I'm gonna be in a bus or train for most of the match. Yes, I know, sadness and despair, but I'll probably end up watching the game on replay tomorrow morning if we win, which we will. My mantra.

I feel for you, writing this in front of my 4k TV with unfortunately only HD signal for the game Smiley I am paying monthly subscription for 5 sports channels which have only Champions League coverage in HD so I have to use every minute of it. It is like trowing money into the fire but there is no better feeling than after coming from hard days work and football match with the friends you sit in your favorite "couch hole" with cold one in the hand and have superb picture on TV. I almost sound like that credit card commercial.

Thanks Trofo=p You should use every minute of it, and there is really no better feeling I agree. These days especially my days are really long and I don't have my friends around me, so it's really relaxing to watch football. Even if there is some frustration if we lose, being Liverpool, am pretty much immune to heartbreak Wink

I also bought a subscription a month plus back, but am in a foreign country so I get the game now but I don't understand the commentary very much. Most of my life spent listening to English or my native tongue so still feels different. To get the English channel would need me to actually get a whole different package with a new provider and while I could probably afford it, it's not even espn but Fox, which I don't like so much. As long as I get to see the game in crisp quality!

Well I got a simple parlay backing my Reds and Spurs to get some feel-good factor from the new stadium (I saw a snippet of their opening ceremony during the Liverpool/Saints halftime break, it was weird heh) and grab the win against Citeh, so I hope you're right tokes.

Hey guys...  CL football this week.  Get your scores up.

I kinda fear for City.  If there's a club that has more of a chance to win against them in the CL, it's an EPL club imho.

Guess am so late for the party but next season, It's obvious I will join.
I couldn't resist joining the Ronaldo- Messi talk alongside other past legends but all I can say is that each and every player was unique in their own way. I enjoyed watching Zidane, Ronaldihno, Pirlo, Rivaldo, Oliver Khan, Klose, Thierry and so many more both at club and country level and ooh boy what a brilliant generation it was.

But when two came to stage (Ronaldo/Messi) the other player seem pretty way too average even if they have been performing well in their respective leagues and countries. The likes of Aguero, Lewandoski haven't even come to the touching distance of ballon D'or because of those two.

I would have to agree with @trofo that we are lucky to have witnessed the pair, New talents will come up but things will never be the same again.

Then like I said before what about players in other positions? Maldini is the pinnacle for a defender etc. What about midfielders, Zidane, Robaldinho? The Brazilian Ronaldo?

The argument for the GOAT could go on forever.

I thought I knew a lot about football but then you surprised me and pulled Robaldinho out of the sleeve  Grin Just messing with you a little.

On a more serious note I would argue that Ronaldinho was maybe the best one to watch while he was in form. He just enjoyed playing football and some of his moves were absolutely brilliant. I was always most impressed with the way he would take a defender out of a game while receiving a ball. Unfortunately he can never be considered with the others IMHO because his flare, while very bright, lasted shorter time. Messi & Ronaldo are on top of their game every season and almost every game. Same could be said for Zidane and Maldini while Ronaldinho was on his best for much shorter time period.

Neymar is still a boy on a playground and if he doesen't grow up he will never be remembered as one of the greatest.

And to put my two cents about Messi and Ronaldo. Messi was always more talented and had those magic touches but Ronaldo is absolute beast. The way he managed to train his body is unbelievable. I feel that he invested much more into his career then Messi. It doesen't make sense to argue who is better, both are great players and we are fortunate to live in a time when we can watch them impress us every single week.

I didn't watch Pele & Maradona play live a lot and never on stadium. So I will refrain from commenting on them. You can't judge the player properly based on compilations of his best moves.

I still think Ronaldo is a better player than Messi.  I think Messi is overrated and people calling him the greatest of all time are fools.   Messi is one of those overhyped media products created to sell merchandise.
Messi is overrated player? Wow, this is strong statement! I can understand when people callinng Neymar or Griezmann as overrated players, but Messi? C'mon. Player who scores 40-50 or even more goals each season, makes 30+ assists. I think we can make endless discussion who is GOAT, Messi or CR7, but calling Messi overrated is absolute nonsense in my opinion. And I think that's difficult to compare them because they are so different. And I don't think that we need compare them, maybe better just watch and enjoy seing how they are playing.
