Meh.
Such a tough night for predictions. I guess it wasn't impossible to predict Athletico win, but not 2-0. And 90% of the predictors picked City to win, but how many guessed 3-2? I didn't watch the games but it looks like City had a really tough time, to give away 2 penalties and then get Otamendi sent off. But a huge team like them, they can probably lose 2 or 3 players and still play someone who can fit into any first 11 of any team.

I slip back to 6th place. Not many games left to catch up to #1!

City didn't have a tough time but they got 2 bullshit penalties against them.. If anything Schalke got extremely lucky while offering nothing besides the two pens.

I mean, City scored 2 goals within 5 minutes with 10 on the pitch after Otamendis red card. Strange game, weird ref but it is what it is. I expect the return to end 5-0 or better.

EFF me I forgot to put in my picks, I swore I did haha. Not that I'd have predicted draws anyway and I'll be damned if anyone predicted 0-0 for both games last night.

Mane was a bit wasteful with chances, Firminho shouldn't have been so generous, and Ginnie should have gotten out of the way or taken Salah's shot, or Matip should have not tried to be VVD... so many ifs, in the end very frustrating. On the plus side, away goal in Munich?

And about the SPAL VAR? That was just a shameful moment, for VAR and for the refereeing... yes, justice was done, but to have that kind of effect?

I hate VAR but if we can't avoid it, then we should do like tennis. Give the team up to 3 calls to make...

A little bit off topic but I believe it should be interesting to most of you.

There was very interesting use of VAR in Italy this weekend. It happened during SPAL - Fiorentina game when the score was 1:1. There was questionable situation/penalty appeal for Fiorentina, referee wasn't certain and let the play continue. The ball was in game for quite some time and SPAL scored a goal. Referee went to check previous situation and decided to award penalty to Fiorentina which immediately made SPAL goal void. After that SPAL players were mentally hit and lost the game 4:1. Thoughts?
Haven't seen this game, now watched highlights on Youtube. Very interesting situation. It was right decision to award penalty, but this case shows some cons of VAR. There was a foul, but referees weren't able to make VAR review while ball was still in the game. I haven't read rules about use of VAR, but I think that referees should be allowed to stop the game even if ball is still in the game when VAR review is needed. Now it looks a bit unfair situation for SPAL, but everything was done right by referees I think.

^  No, the dumb bet is me being dumb enough to think Solksjaer could do a a Di Matteo and win the CL.  Lol.  I have United to win the CL at 31.  .02 BTC wins .62.  Not happening tho...  Meh.

@tokeweed It's a small bet, so don't worry. Looks like you can make another small bet for even bigger rewards if you believe United can score 2 goals at least in Paris. Liverpool tried very hard and without Pogba I don't see how this can happen.

See the top scorers in this week (4 games). Everybody winning yellow cap for 2 perfect scores. Very strange to see! I'm back to 5th, but dropped to 6th in EPL pool. Crazy.

Meh...  Two away goals for PSG, and two yellows for Pogba (equals red, can't play in the second leg).  I guess that dumb bet I made on Man United winning the whole thing was just that.  Dumb.  Lol.

It's a reality check for Solksjaer and the club.  I think Woodward would def be going after Poch this summer.

Oh and gg by the Spurs.  I'd be def glad to see them progress.

I watched only second half yesterday and I must say PSG played very good game. They managed to neutralize all dangerous players in Man Utd side and play to their own strengths. Maybe they have finally grown enough to progress far in the CL. We'll see.

Looking forward to Spurs-Dortmund tonight. Should be interesting.

You know, my predictions were actually made before I knew about Neymar and Cavani injuries,,, and definitely before Manchester United hit their top form. In fact they are most in form team in Europe, before the losing to PSG with 31 points from last 33 points in all games. In fact after this loss now it is PSG I believe who share the form of 1 loss and 1 draw in last 12 games.

I got perfect scores, so it pays sometimes after all not to change predictions it was as if PSG beat United on the old forms.

Holy crap guys! Got the reminder email from Superbru. Totally forgot about my picks, I just put them all in now (you can do it for all 4 weeks of Last 16).

We still have the sidebet to watch out for... plus my own personal 9/1 Liverpool to win CL Wink

Still undecided about which match to watch tomorrow night, but PSG look shaky with only 1 of its triumvirate fit to play at Old Trafford. Odds aren't pretty for anyone so I'll wait til game night to place a parlay.

We don't have a "highest weekly" bonus for this CL pot, do we?

Yep, looking eagerly for some CL action. A lot has changed during the pause. If PSG and Man Utd played 2 months ago, PSG would have passed without breaking a sweat. Now I think Man Utd has very good chance of progressing to next round.

Real Madrid is also looking much better so I feel better about my pick in our side bet.

Yup, I totally agree.  Solksjaer could become RDM 2.0.  Lol.  I don't mind it.  It'll actually be good for the CL and make this season more special imho.

...  And I made a small futures bet on Man United to win the CL at 31.  Lol.  Grin

Thanks for the reminder. I did forget actually, even though I was almost 100% sure I already made my picks a long time ago. Maybe I am having deja vu memory from another round.

Whoever made early bet on Manchester United when it was something like 5.5 if I remember must be enjoying the bad news coming from PSG. I think United should win tonight, but I don't agree Roma are favorites against Porto, maybe it's because they play at home? I am predicting 1 upset though.

I expect many goals in both games, so maybe over 2.5 in each game is better pick @1.7 and @1.9.

^  It's all rumors and unconfirmed until it's on the big sports news sites.  They usually avoid unconfirmed bs.

I'm checking some right now...

Nope, I don't see it there.  It's all bs until it's confirmed by both buying and selling clubs, the players involved and maybe also their agents too.

My master plan for Real has started. 1/3 finished. Real just bought Hazard for 100 millions something (pound probably). Managed to get good deal becase it was his last year of contract.

Now they need one goal getter  and rsising the form of players already in the club.
Where you did got news that Real bought him? I only can see rumours that he will go to Real after this season. For me it looks strange that Real acting so passively in this transfer window.

Prolly waiting until summer.

In the local reputable (Croatian) press. After I saw your post I also went to look and I believe they misunderstood following article
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/01/14/chelsea-put-100-million-price-tag-eden-hazard-decides-join-real/ as done deal.

But something is definitely happening between Hazard and real. here is another article https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11668/11608303/eden-hazard-waiting-for-real-madrid-transfer-from-chelsea.

I believe it is only matter of time before we see Hazard in Real.

^  Between those three, I still think Juve has the best chance of winning it.  Ronaldo's a big factor imho.  And Juve might have bought him just for the purpose of winning the CL trophy in mind...

Well...  That and kit sales.  Cheesy
