...  So Supremo's out and we're still with still 6 players to go with mostly the strongest clubs chosen.  Feeling good with City atm.  Smiley

Well, can't say I am feeling optimistic about Real Madrid defending the title but you never know. If they sign few good players which can then act as a catalysts for the rest of the players.... We will see

At the moment I believe Lpool, City & Juve are clubs with biggest chance to lift the trophy but a lot can change in the coming months.

Not to be outdone by peak Mourinho smashing the water bottles a few weeks ago, we have now also reached peak Phil Jones. The last time United scored an own goal in the Champions League was in 2011 against Benfica, thanks to none other than Phil Jones. Grin

VVD red? No way...

It was an ankle-breaking tackle. A clear red. https://streamable.com/juors

Two straight reds, one for each team, in the Bayern - Ajax game though, for two frankly horrendous challenges. Plus two penalties in last 15 minutes and a massively offside own goal in the 95th, followed by 4 Ajax players trying to beat up Neuer. What a ridiculous game.

A lucky first half for Liverpool. Rui stopped playing and appealed to the ref instead of trying to tackle or pressure Salah, and Ospina should really have done better. Salah was great as always, but it should never have been a goal. And Liverpool are very lucky not to be down to 10 men after van Dijk's tackle on Mertens. Studs up and very close to a broken ankle. Should have been a straight red.

Edit: Allison might be the best keeper in the world right now. After a phenomenal stoppage time save against Burnley last week to save the game for Liverpool, he makes another phenomenal stoppage time save to save the game against Napoli and ensure Liverpool qualify. What a keeper.

Game was incredible atmosphere-wise. Liverpool were EXTREMELY lucky that Mertens was next to anonymous, Ancelloti made 3 subs in 10 mins of 2nd half I believe, and that really took the game to the Reds but bloody hell Allison and Salah were true heroes. Scored the goal we needed, and kept the clean sheet we needed. Cometh the hour, cometh the men, indeed.

What I like most about Becker is that he was never unfazed by that blunder he made earlier in the season, and his confidence never dipped. Still played bravely, a little cheeky at times but cool as ice. VVD as usual makes 1 second 3 seconds... and has he been training his volleys or what? Shoots better than Hendo!

Rui got turned embarassingly, and Koulibaly just gave up too, and then the keeper inexplicably tries to predict Salah's cutback, so yeah that goal should never have been scored but don't take away Salah's strength.

VVD red? No way... Kuolibaly's studs on Salah was actually a lot more careless, and it took a linesman and some moments to think before the ref brandished the yellow!

Slava Ukraini!
I think this round can be crucial in our pool. This is last round in group stage, what means that this is last time when 16 matches per week will be played and it's last chance to collect big number of points. In other round there will be only 8 matches per week - it means less points available. So, it's very important to collect big number of points somehow this week and remain close to the top.
About Tottenham. Their mission is very difficult because Barca rarely loose at Camp Nou. But they already guaranteed 1st place in group and probably some young players will be in their squad tonight - it's chance for Tottenham.
About Liverpool - they are terrible at away games in UCL, but I believe that they will win at home tonight. I'm sure that atmosphere and support from fans will be amazing at Anfield tonight.

All mine are in. I'm higher ranked in this pool too, but I think because we've only had 5 games in, so naturally points are tighter and we're all bunched up against each other. Someone remind me, did we also have a bonus prize set aside for people with highest weekly scores like in EPL?

Liverpool to win big tonight, all due respect to Napoli, but I'd like them to not have the distraction of CL so they can pip Ronaldo and Juve to the Serie A.

I got a weird ass bet on Brugge to win too. I bet on Monaco last time out but they played horribly and I wonder if Athleti could be looking a bit tired. Dortmund too looked leggy in their last domestic game. Probably a few upsets tonight esp with teams already qualified.

Hey guys, do not forget to put in your predictions for the last week of Group Stage football. I have sort of given up on Premier League pool,,, too far behind and I realize I do not know the teams well there to make good scores,,, but this one I still have hope. It is much closer and a big scoreboost can push us up high in the position.

My prediction for surprise upset is Red Star Belgrade win or draw against PSG, and Monaco Win at home. City also already qualified for top, so does United, so maybe even they could lose.

Finally a good week for me late goals surprises didn't help me to get away from bottom half. Predicting PSG 2-1 made a big difference for me.

Lawl.  Mou looked like a little kid losing his temper.  Cheesy

Anyway, glad Mou got Man United at the final 16 tho.  The CL is way better with them around for the KO stages.  Now I hope Liverpool gets in and the Spurs too.  Wink

And Jose celebrating like they'd just scored the winning goal in the last minute of the Champions League final. He was beating the shit out of the water bottles with some WWE moves lol: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj9bCdpsk9A

Too funny! I didn't watch any games last night because I had a really tiring day so couldn't stay up. Watching matches after midnight is a killer I forget how many times football makes me so slow at work.

Quite good points from this round, wasn't expecting 20, although it is only a 2.5 point catch up with Trofo who is still top. Not sure who is mdayliner but 6 points from 6 correct outcomes, not even 1 is close, must feel like shit hehe.

6 players picked PSG to win, I was the idiot to go 1-1 for Tottenham but I thought Inter Milan surely can score 1. Interesting to see how everyone made their picks Smiley

If the Atl Madrid game finishes 2-0 then I'll have three points from that. Last minute of injury time now.

Will be watching the PSG v Liverpool game in 15 mins. Should be a good one and probably pretty close. Could go any way, but I've gone with a 2-2 draw. I think PSG might win it with the home advantage though.

Nice, I climbed up 2 positions on the leaderboard, but it looks like tokeweed still managed to get his picks on point. Just feel cheated to predict a Lyon draw but it became 2-2 in the last 10 minutes. I guess I should be thankful it didn't stay at 2-1.

And stupid United only scored 1 goal, last minute too. Tough to predict, only oleo and hahay got 2 exact scores (thank you Ajax for giving me mine) but I am happy to be catching up so far!

Picked the wrong upsets. Not a single one of us guessed CSKA or Hoffenheim would lose. I had to be an idiot and select Young Boys 1-0. Really ought not to be blinded by my betting.

Only 1 game that matters tonight. I know my boy LFCBitcoin's got his tickets for Anfield vs Napoli, so hopefully we'll wrap up qualification tonight so we can enjoy that game thoroughly.

P.S. Liverpool at over 3/1 tonight (3.36 at my bookie), 13/5 max normal rate at fiat bookies. When was the last time bookies gave those odds? MANSIONbets are offering 70/1 for new players, or 50/1 PSG max 10 quid. I can't open an account but any of you UK guys, please take the 70/1!

I initially had United at a 3-0 win, but as I mentioned in a previous post, after their utterly dismal display against Crystal Palace in the League at the weekend, I downgraded them. It was a 50/50 toss up between 1-0 and 2-0, and unfortunately I picked the wrong one or I would have had 3 exact scores. Still, I should be happy with my change since it moved me from a 1 point "result" to a 1.5 point "close". I also moved up 2 positions and closed down 3.5 points on Trofo in first place. Let's see what today brings.

Only you and yatty98 got any points from the Lyon game, so yeah, 1.5 points is better than none.

Edit: Also, I think we have maybe hit peak Mourinho.

Well, you guys are doing well in both our pools - EPL and Champions League. And I'm still more or less fighting it out with the others in the bottom half. Of course still too early to call any shots but I daresay this seems to prove that we're consistently performing close to our abilities. I'm trying to remember if we were all also similarly positioned during the World Cup pool. I guess we'll learn one or two things about each other and ourselves.

Friendly reminder to get your picks in ahead of tomorrow's games.

Some big name injuries affecting a few teams over the coming games. Looks like Barcelona will be missing Suarez, Cillessen and Arthur, although Coutinho will be fit again.
Barca currently have lot of problems with injuries. You mentioned only few players, Rafinha suffered ACL injury and season ended for him. Also Rakitic and Roberto will not play. It's chance for players like Dembele and Malcom to show themselves. The main problem in RB position where only Semedo can play now. We will see strange squad of Barca, but I think they can beat PSV easily without these players.
Liverpool now is in 1st place in their group, but it's very close fight in this group and every point matters right now.
I'm going to follow Roma - Real match tonight. In first round Real won easily, but now it will be see interesting to watch how Real players will react after big loss to Eibar.
And I had terrible recent weeks in EPL predictor, I hope to perform a bit better in UCL pool now Cheesy

Put my picks in today, for the first time predicting the same results as I am with actual betting on parlays, so that's backing a few of the tight favourites along with the heavyweights... Real, Ajax, CSKA, Juventus.

Fully expecting both Manchester clubs to win but outright odds not attractive so put in cheeky bets on Lyon and Young Boys. I recall the first leg where the Swiss gave a good account of themselves... And with Mou's boys usually folding after getting thrown under buses, which are then used to park in front of goal... So who knows?

Will watch that game to hopefully get my 12/1 bet=p

Manchester City are obviously still down De Bruyne, Otamendi and Mendy, but it looks like Gundogan and Bernado Silva are also injured now. Mane is in doubt for Liverpool due to an illness.

I'm sure this will come back to bite me, but I'm changing my Man United prediction following them struggling to hold on to a point versus Palace at home this weekend.
